It's happy hour here at Evil Avatar with a story that will warm even the coldest of hearts this dreary Sunday evening.

A Little Big Planet beta player has used the games extensive level creation tools to propose to his long-time girlfriend.

“I’ve been wanting to do something creative to ask her to marry me, and what a better way then Little Big Planet! I know the last part of the level may not be that exciting, but I have a fiancee now!”

On behalf of /gamer and the gaming community, we wish you two the best of luck. And yes, we’re hopeless romantics…

Now make sure your wedding cake is just as cool…

On a side note, if you would like to play his game, you can find the level in the LittleBigPlanet Beta. Just look for the level called ‘Love and Marriage,’ under the user name DimmuJed.

Original article over at /gamer (http://www.slashgamer.com/2008/10/12/votd-gamer-proposes-to-his-girlfriend-using-the-lbp-editor/).

She said yes! How would you use a videogame to proposition somebody?

Click the headline to see the proposal.

I have to get yet ANOTHER PS3 lol , I can't believe how much I want this game now. Anyone know where I can get a decent priced BC PS3? :)

Oh, I get it. "Little Big Romance" because the name of the game is LittleBigPlanet. It ties in, because it's "Little Big" and then "romance," covers both bases. That's so clever and interesting - I can't believe people aren't doing LittleBig[Everything] on every LittleBigPlanet related story - that would be so awesome.

What a F'n loser. I hope she laughed, spit in his face, and then smashed his ps3.

How old is this guy 16?

My GF would kick me out if I did that. Immediately!

Better yet I hope she said yes. Then they have to explain how they got engaged to everyone for the rest of their lives. That would be torture.

Imagine if you had a daughter get engaged by a video game? I would take her little dork fiance behind the house and shit all over him.

You make a better headline David Halberstam.

It's mature, well thought-out posts such as this that make me glad I'm still a member of this community.

His fiancee is obviously a gamer and this is a proposal that not only appealed to that aspect of her life, but it required time and effort on his part. Turns out, girls love it when you spend time and energy on something for them, even moreso when its something like a marriage proposal.

When you're a little older, you'll understand. kthxbai ;)

How would you use a videogame to proposition somebody? Are you sure that proposition is the correct term here? It sounds like you're standing on the street corner, flashing your Wii at people.

And I thought it was cute. Cheesy, but cute... and trust me, the way everyone else proposes is at best cheesy. The only person to have that awesome romantic thought with nary a whiff of fromage is YOU.

Now if he'd proposed via text message while he was burping nacho cheese in her face, then I'd have a problem with it, but this took some effort and the ladies always like a guy who actually puts in some effort...

You make a better headline David Halberstam.

"Man Proposes With LittleBigPlanet."

Short, quick and to the point. I don't know who taught you that every headline has to have some sort of ZINGY PUN/YUKYUK PUNCHLINE :p:p:p:p but they should be set ablaze on a day of celebration - preferably a birthday or an anniversary.

I swear, sometimes these things are worse than the terrible pun headlines/tag quotes you hear on local news channels. Besides, if your heart was really into it you'd have said "LittleBigRomance" without spaces for maximum pun effect - you knew it was clown shoes when you wrote it. ;)

Wow... I love it when people spend more time picking apart the headline of an article than actually discussing the content of same. Sure, it's a cheesy pun, but that has been the stock and trade of this site (and many others) for ages. Why not just do away with the snarky comments after the news story too? I mean, it's not like that's a huge part of the style of EvAv.

Sigh

He does... you just aren't used to the way he talks and thinks. Maybe you should lighten up yourself and if you can't then I suggest finding a drug dealer and looking into marijuana.

Seriously, chill out.

Will say this though, the level sucks, no build up it's like you just show up to the boss right away. :P

LOL, grats to him. ;p

I think the fact that she said yes, should point to the thought this guy put into this idea; ladies do love the creative attempt. Additionally, to the peanut gallery, take a chill pill... and then do grow up.

Spoken like the sad and lonely man you are.

That video was awesome. Incredibly clever, and I'm guessing when he gets to the proposal section, that was his girlfriend gasping in surprise? If so, that guy received the best head of his life. His ancestors probably stopped suddenly, and said, "What the fuck was that?"

I think that was a great way to propose , who the heck would have expected that as a delivery methoed for a proposal? I mean people use shit like planes with banners flying overhead , they never design a game level to propose with. His girlfriend was probably stunned and proud of him all in the same moment...like Aversion said, he had the best sex ever that night.

Whatever your thoughts on it, it worked for him, so you gotta give him credit,

Personally, I like it, as its a very unique and personal way of going about it.

A very clever way to propose to someone. And honestly, it will probably give a much better story than "we went to a fancy restaurant and there was a ring in my champagne."

Was that a video of her actually playing though? Because if so, I think its funny that she continued to play out the rest of the level instead of just running over to her now fiance.

Do you really love it when people do that? I'm curious.

I fail to see how sarcastically winking at someone means I didn't mean exactly what I wrote. Let me clear this up for you, sugarplum - I meant it. Clear? ;)

Anyway - to touch on the story itself I give the guy props. It sucks that he's about to shackle his life to this individual vagoo forever and ever (probably after years and years of nagging on her part) BUT at least he did something different. At least he didn't do something that was cheesy, expected, uncreative and stupid. ( Like a LittleBigPlanet headline pun for instance :B )

This story reminds me of the guy that proposed with that homebrew Bejeweled he made for his chick's DS. Hell, for all we know this chick thinks LBP is the bee's knees 'n gave him bonus points for proposing with something she likes. Someone brought that up earlier but whatever ;p This stuff is pro.

Wow, there are seriously some negative people in this thread.

Give the guy credit for proposing using a method and medium that his fiancee likes. Whether or not the cynics like it, his soon-to-be wife obviously did, adn that's all that matters.

I'm happy for them. :D

The idea is ok, but the execution was a bit flawed. I would have much rather seen the proposal at the END of the level... like have the sackboy/girl run through a zoomed in version of the proposal, then when it got to the end, zoom out to show the whole thing. I mean srsly, why would someone continue playing the level if they already had the payoff? And also srsly, why would a girl who just got proposed to continue playing a video game? Seems to me this guy needs to go to level design class.*

* said completely in jest.

Gah. My sarcasmometer must have been off, Ksy. A thousand apologies for taking you far too seriously :)

And I have absolutely no problem with the whole thing. Remember, I'm the guy who named his first born child after the protagonist in Thief... If my wife had been more into games when I proposed (and something like this was available), I'd have no problem doing something similar.
