Dragon Quest VIII Release Date now November 15th

The game was originally supposed to come out November 22, but according to Square-Enix (http://www.square-enix.com/na/news/2005/10242005/) it now has an official release date of November 15 (one week earlier). Dragon Quest VIII is the newest game in the enormously popular Japanese RPG series. As a bonus, the game will also ship with a demo of Final Fantasy XII.

Early reviews of this have been excellent. Electronic Gaming Monthly gave the game scores of 9.0/8.0/9.0 in their latest issue, with all other available reviews on Gamerankings.com (http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/583527.asp?q=dragon%20quest) also being firmly in the 90% range.

This game looks good and I've been looking for an RPG to play this Christmas since Oblivion got pushed so far back, so I'll probably pick it up.

This is always a good thing. Games slipping out early are blessings, especially when it's Dragon Warrior (Quest, or whatever). Too bad I wont be able to play this puppy until probably next year, when my current crop of games have been beaten. Goddamnit, release the new consoles so I can catch up on old stuff already!

Just pre-ordered my copy. I'm one of the few people that actually really liked Dragon Quest 7, so this was a must-buy for me. I just hope my PS2 lives long enough to let me beat it. The darn thing is getting old...

I'm so getting this. . . despite my hating the artist's work a whole whole lot. There is even a "Psyche Up" feature that turns every character into a Super Saiyen. *sigh* Btw, this is purely a subjective opinion. Feel free to love DBZ artwork if you do. . . I just hate the character deformity a whole lot. To me they all look like they have Down's Syndrome. . . like a group of mongoloid bodybuilders with spikey haircuts. I imagine them using steroids in preparation for the special Olympics. I never watched the show "Life Goes On" even though I was young enough to watch stupid things when it was on, but I really hope there was a steroids episode where Corky resisted peer pressure in the special Olympics. . . that would be awesome.

Can't wait for "The Movies" on the 8th. Hopefully it will be so good that I don't even get to DQ VIII for a while.

Well, you know how these things go, it takes sooo long to translate games into english from... uhh, english that it may take 1/2 a year.

I totally dug DQ7. I just never had the time to finish it. Still have my saved game somewhere around 1/4th (THIRTY FREAKING HOURS) through. I still hope to finish it one day!

Well, see, that's the thing -- playing the demo will maybe give an idea as to what the hell is going on with it. But, yes, I do really want to play it.

They are probably having to add more of the serie's trademarked homoeroticism. All of the most well received Final Fantasy games had heaping loads of it.

Notice that FF X-2 and FF IX do not have anything near the cult followings of VII, VIII and to a lesser degree X (Tidus never had a male love interest like Cloud and Squall, but he was a good Uke anyway).
