Joystiq (http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/08/99-nights-2-coming-to-the-xbox-360/) has word that a follow up to the Dynasty Warriors style action game Ninety-Nine Nights, has been announced.

No, seriously! We're not sure who exactly was demanding it (we'd like to have a nice, long chat with them, by the way) but a follow-up to actioner 99 Nights -- 99 Nights 2 -- is coming to the 360.

When is it coming? How will it be different from its predecessor? Why is it not called 100 Nights? We're hoping to hear more soon.

I can't help but echo Joystiq by wondering who wanted this... but in case YOU did, hooray!

I enjoyed the game quite a bit...of course, I got it stupidly cheap at FYE or something. It's a fun diversion and I'm not disappointed at the thought of a sequel; maybe it'll prove to be more of a success?

I wonder how the first one managed to sell enough copies to justify a sequel... then again, Dynasty Warriors manages to do just that every 3 months with a new game.

The first had the potential to be a good game, maybe the second one will be.

I had some fun with the original. While perhaps a bit of a "flat" game, it certainly wasn't bad - and the only thing worthy of outright mockery is probably the voice acting.

Hopefully the sequel can up the ante a bit.

It was no great shakes, but certainly not as bad as most paint it out to be.

It was alright actually, I picked it up for a stupidly cheap amount (£5 I think) and got a few hours of fun out of it. I'd probably only pick up the second on the same terms though.

I enjoyed it, but then I like the Dynasty Warrior games. I buy one every couple of years, sort of like I do with Sports Games. I'm interested in seeing if they just copy the Dynasty Warriors formula of just doing a Sports game style 'update' or if they make significant changes to the game. I'm hoping for the later, but we'll see.

Heh. They'll probably do a complete 180 and make the sequel a Pokemon clone.

I borrowed a copy of the original game from a friend and enjoyed it quite a bit, though I'm glad I didn't make a full price purchase when it first was released. It's a "good" game - there's nothing great about it.

Hopefully the fun concepts of the first game can be built upon and the overall experience improved. If they give it the "Dynasty Warriors" treatment (i.e. only make marginal changes for their "new" game), I'll pass on it entirely.

Considering the shortcomings of the first installment, a sequel could offer a solid game. I thought the first game was fun, but there is a lot of room for improvement.

I enjoyed the first one. The large-scale battles in some of the more open levels definitely had a more epic feel to them. Could have done with fewer of the trailblazing missions, though.

I would have liked any sort of missions other than "kill everything". It would have been fairly cool to have put a more tactical twist on the action ala Kingdom Under Fire. Defending against a raid of those flying lizard bastards or trolls would be better than plowing into hoards of enemies time and time again.
