In a post (http://adsense.blogspot.com/2008/10/get-in-game-with-adsense-for-games.html) by Ryan Hayward on Google's Inside AdSense blog he reveals the details of their in-game ad program for web-based games. Do you develop or publish web-based games? If so, you're contributing to a growing trend - according to comScore, over 25% of Internet users play online games every week, which is over 200 million users worldwide. As a beta user of AdSense for Games, you can display video ads, image ads, or text ads within your online games to earn revenue. You'll be able to show these ads in placements you define, such as interstitial frames before a game, after a level change, or when a game is over. Members of our AdWords team will sell your in-game ad placements directly to top brand advertisers, and you'll also see contextually targeted text and image ads based on content and demographic information. In addition, you'll be able to control the ads you see on your pages using our filtering options.

I can't wait for the day when I close my eyes at night, and Google is delivering ads to my eyelids! That will be amazing!

/sarcasm.

LEELA: Didn't you have ads in the twentieth century?
FRY: Well, sure, but not in our dreams. Only on TV and radio... and in magazines... and movies, and at ballgames, and on buses, and milk cartons, and T-shirts, and bananas, and written in the sky. But not in dreams, no sirree!

If these are free games then I really can't complain. It's the ones that I PAY for that I do not want any real world advertising put in. Oh, and Please do not give the speech about how it adds to the realism of a game or will lead to lower prices(that is just B.S. ad companies use but it never happens), I play games to get AWAY from the real world, not to have it shoved in my face. Also, advertising money WILL influence game designs, instead of creating great original games they will only focus on realistic cities/world so they can put real ads in the game. Unless the game is free, keep the ads out.

I can't wait to pick up the phone and have to wait through a 30 second ad before dial tone.

Oh yeah. Great idea. Placed after the game is over.

Somthing like: "You are Dead. Brought to you by Coke light."

As if a "game over" screen isn't bad enough without ads
