Vivendi has released a new patch for Monolith's recently released FPS F.E.A.R. This update brings your retail game to v1.02 and not only fixes some minor localization issues, but also pre-patch the game in preparation for the release of the F.E.A.R. SDK/ Mod tools, and more importantly, adds a new Multiplayer Map (Asylum).
Grab the F.E.A.R. v1.02 patch (http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=29528) (115mb) over at WorthPlaying

Ack, I'm probably one of the many that already finished this (relatively short) game.

Yup. I already finished it too... the day after it came out.
The multiplayer was nothing epsecial IMO, and upon checking Gamespy I saw there was a total of 8 servers with people actually playing... and that was today.\
Oh well, good that they are supporting it with patches.

Awesome news, I look forward to all the weird shit my friends will make in the form of mods.
My one buddy wants to make a desk mod, where the only environment model is an office desk, and all the guns just fire desks at each other.
Exactly.

I just finished it this past weekend. I had a great time playing it. IMO, FEAR does two things really well;
1) Makes the combat fun with good AI
2) It does an amazing job of blowing things up

The combat in F.E.A.R. is really damn impressive though. I love the whole "slightly exaggerated" physics system that lets you blow people clear across the room with a shotgun. Sure, they took a page out of Max Payne's book, but I felt that F.E.A.R.'s system took it to the next level.

The physics is pretty poor. You can't even knock the barrels over.

F.E.A.R. definitely could have used more crates too.
I mean, when I walk through office complexes, I see crates EVERYWHERE. I felt that the lack of crates detracted from the experience.
Oh, and the crates should have some sort of ammunition inside them too.
HUGE crates. One piece of ammo. Hope they fix this in 1.3.

It seems you can knock over most things actually... which barrels are moveable is up to level designers. I know alot of maps where barrels end up in front of staircases and things but others where theyre practically permanent cover from fire. Anyways Im excited to see a new map already. Hope this is the first of many. Maybe next will be a new CTF map?

While I do agree it was fun, I don't think its fun enough to play through again. Did they have to make that one girl look like she was EXACTLY from the Ring? I mean they couldn't think of anything else? Come on!

Mmmmmmmmmm... now I just want this to get here faster. Ordered it Friday with that bitchin' GoGamer deal, but it'll probably be another day or two before it's here. Probably for the better anyways. It's not like I have time. :p

You do often have to click a lot of clicks to get files from Worthplaying, but I have noticed that they often have these patch files several hours earlier than the other pages.

Loved the game. Too bad the copy protection made me have to use a no-cd crack to be able to play the game :( And after patching it to 1.01 and 1.02 it made no diffrence! When will theese people learn???

...except when you decide to never ever utilize that site because of the clickfest, like I've decided. I'd rather pay fileplanet up front than get the run around for 'free' from worthplaying.
I just finished FEAR this evening. Has a fairly good ending. All in all, a pretty good game, imho.
I snuck up behind a security guard near the end, aimed my shotty at his waist and blew him in half, lol. His legs were still twitching, a nice halloween treat.

I loved every second of this game. I just wish that the framerate wasn't so inconsistant.

I also enjoyed this game alot. The enemy AI was refreshingly unpredictable and challenging, without being frustrating.
This is probably the best FPS experience I've had since Half Life 2.
Although I'm playing Quake 4 and COD 2 right now (yeah I'm an FPS whore).. Quake 4 doesn't impress me much so far (i'm starting to think it was a waste of my money) but COD 2 is great.

The only problem I've found is the sound gets mucked up after playing the new DM level "Asylum". Your gun shots and some enemies footsteps get lost. The workaround seems to be quiting and restarting.
