So judging from the pictures this game seems to just follow the first movie, probably a wise decision.

From what I've read it follows all three of the movies. I just wish you were correct; the Matrix should have just stopped at the first film. :\

I'll never understand this opinion. It always seemed to me the matrix movies were very consistent from beginning to end. All the movies were just a simple twilight zone plot with lots of fun action. The only problem I ever had was the way the lack of fun kung-fu type action in the third movie replaced by crappy dragonball type action. That and the endless pontificating of morpheus. Though he does that the whole way through.

Then again, every time I watch the second movie, I ALWAYS skip the prayer/dance scene. Makes the movie worlds better.

I've always been of the (probably unfounded) opinion that the people who thought the first movie was the most awesome thing ever didn't grow up watching twilight zone and things like that.

*Side-steps argument over The Matrix Trilogy plot*

Wow, this game looks incredibly unimpressive. Maybe it's just me sick of all matrix things in this world. Where's the matrix tv series?

wow that texture on morpheus' jacket is BAD. pretty low res stuff there...

The Matrix trilogy had a lot of potential. It's a shame the second and third films had to completely ruin it.

Bleh, I am unimpressed. The charters look blocky, and what's with Neo's hands in that sewerish looking tunnel shot?

The Matrix just screams for a good game, but somehow.. they have all sucked, and I really do not see this one being any better. Plus given the fact that the trilogy is a couple years past now, I think I will just pass this game entirely.

I enjoyed all three movies, I liked the first one best of course, but I thought all three were pretty good overall. The second and third suffered from a good old case of the 'sequels', which was probably due to a expanded budget and the problems they ran into during shooting. The one thing I would like to see come out of the Matrix now is more Animatrix; I enjoyed those shorts a lot and would love to see some more.

I think this is a license that people have burnt themselves on. Especially the last 2 films leaving such a sour taste in most peoples mouths. At this point they're just beating this thing to death.

First film was great too...

Enter The Matrix was ok, there was alot of bad to it though, mainly controls and graphics. The Matrix Online is perhaps the worst MMO ever conceived. This game while not graphically impressive, could be good nonetheless.

I half expected Neo to start saying "KA-MA-HA-MA-HAAAAA!!!". I agree though, I think the second and third movies were good save for a few places where they seemed to go a little overboard.

The game does look awful though....

I loved all three movies. (The first movie was Neo's breaking out. You can only do that once. The story has to move on. Reloaded did have some lame dialog, but Revolutions was deep. Very deep. If you think it's not, you missed half the plot.)

Anyway, I really look forward to this one. Shiny had much more time to work on this one than "Enter".

You know, I kind of liked that actually. Neo was a character with "no bounderies." It would make sense for him to be flying all over the place.
My gripes with the 3rd is that is just seemed slow, too little Matrix sequences, and too few tie ups to the 2nd movie.

As for the look of the game ... I don't mind it as long as they keep the screen filled and the animation fluid.

I know I'm supposed to bash this like you all are, but I think the game looks great, especially considering that this is a PS2 game. At least that's what I'll be playing.

Revolutions was deep. Very deep. If you think it's not, you missed half the plot.

Deep? Yeah, I must have missed that part. To me it seemed like they let symbolism trump storytelling and unfortunately that symbolism didn't extend much beyond the most simplistic interpretation of a yin-yang.

I agree with xanthome...I'm waiting for this one. I think it looks like a lot of fun.

It took them how many shitty games to realize most people want to just play Neo? The 2nd and 3rd movie did not have enough Neo, especially the 3rd movie.

I don't even care about victory in the end, I just want to see Neo fight endless agents. They need to release a game based on the Burly Brawl alone! Make the animations look right and they have my $60, I'll even pony up for the Xbox 360.

The original Matrix movie was a solid, self contained movie that worked. The 2nd movie introduced a bunch of interesting ideas that never quite paid off if you were really into the plot. All that babble from the Architect. Did it ever really mean anything!? And what about Neo's ability to stop the Sentinels outside in the real-world (the end of the 2nd movie)!? So many interesting ideas that never quite went anywhere.

Instead, the 2nd and 3rd movie were just mostly fluff.

Crappy dragonball z indeed... Only if it was good Dragonball Z fighting... No need for rain aside from having particle effects... ANd if neo was truly boundless why couldn't he teleport through-out the matrix.

I think Neo seemed more powerful in the fist Matrix movie, as he barely moved and kicked ass... the whole third movie was stupid. Neo was flying around and completely seemed to be losing his cool.

What I am saying, super flying and kung-fu should not have been his thing, he should have been 100 steps ahead of everyone and nigh unstopable. Neo should be killing with a roll of his eyes and flying without his jacket moving, he could be static and the world acts around him.

Mmmm, lots of low-resolution textures, no need to panic, there's enough for everyone.

I guess the gameplay could be alright... but if Enter the Matrix is anything to go by, this game will be shit. Shiny have lost it.

Wasn't this game claiming to have hundreds of Agent Smiths on-screen for the burly brawl without any hiccup? If so, I could forgive the graphics as long as the gameplay is there. Definitely a rental.

This looks like a prime example of what it looks like when a mediocre game engine is forced to perform beyond its intended capabilities. Some of the stuff looks genuinely good, but the stuff that is bad sticks out in a major way. Anyways, the Matrix franchise got enough of my money already. One movie ticket and a couple rentals was more than appropriate.

I know I shouldn't be but I'm quite looking forward to this game.

Enter the Matrix was a guilty pleasure for me too, it would have been a great game had it not been for the shitty controls and a feeling of being a bit rushed, which is odd because I always thought that Shiny were quite tight with that sort of thing, MDK anyone? I blame Atari for rushing it though, they have ruined many a game by releasing them far too early.

I don't really care for films too much but The Matrix Trilogy were pretty fun. I find The Animatrix more impressive though and I'd love to see them try the human vs robot wars before the human enslavement. From both perspectives.

www.corporatemofo.com has a great breakdown of all 3 movies' philisophical and religious connotations/symbolism

i agree that the last 2 were not very good/bit off more than they could chew, but after reading it should elevate your opinions at least a tiny bit, and see what they were trying to accomplish. (again the execution.. not so much)
