Wow. Kids these days actually accept ratings? What a bunch of weak-willers. :p I remember getting into R rated movies when I was 15. Hell, sneaking in via increasingly complicated and difficult plans was pretty much the point; it was more fun than the movie itself.

sucks to see Doom have a big drop, i guess studios should learn that video game movies need scripts that are above average

Yeah but I don't like giving my money to a movie that doesnt deserve it, like Doom. Just so I can see a movie I want. I had to pay to see the grudge to see sin city.

Saw 2 was ok, and I liked it better than the first one, actually. But that was mostly because my expectations for Saw were so high after all the hype around it (I had been hearing great buzz since the Toronto film festival screenings and everyone was saying it was the second coming of Seven). I was let down, ultimately. But this time I kept my expectations reasonable and enjoyed myself quite a bit. I can't believe it pulled down 30 mil though. It only cost 4 to make. Jeez. Someone is laughing all the way to the bank.

I saw the movie "Waiting" this week, with the guy who starred in National Lampoons: Van Wilder. Very, very funny movie, if you go with a bunch of guys.
It would have been a lot better if the theater was more packed, but I still laughed my ass off. Not 100% funny the whole way through, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Sure. But like someone said above, it's all about your expectations. And your attitude. Like I find the Final Destination movies and Event Horizon to be laugh riots, while I've found other people though they were actually scary somehow. Different tastes and different perspectives. I'm planning on watching Saw II this weekend, and I expect I'll enjoy it, regardless of how "good" it actually is.

Are you one of those people that can't enjoy a movie with plot holes. That comes up with situation that don't actually occur in the movie. As if it where real? Like what if the guy farted and gave himself away?

Saw, feel asleep during most of it. But it's like come on, have you ever seen people playing dead, they are always breathing to damn much. Not to mention the damn coughing from his cancer. Yet he can lay for about 10 damn hours solid.
Saw 2 was way better. But it gave itself away kind early. As soon as he flipped out it was damn near like wait a minute ass hole pay attention.
But the movies have like the worst fucking detectives ever. CSI would had Jigsaw in jail trying to figure out how that shit happened.

Yeah Zanzibar I hear that movie is fantastic, like the best of the year.
I checked my theaters earlier and it is playing, but not too close. Might have to make the trip this week. Now all I need is a date...

Oh believe me, that is for sure. David Fincher really needs to get back to making good flicks. Panic Room? Not so much. Not so bad, but not so good. Honestly, I think he was just trying to finish out his mult-picture deal with Fox by taking whatever came his way. Now that he is out from under that, I am looking forward to Zodiac. I am hopeful that he can bring back some of that Seven/Fight Club cool. Even still, he is definitely the master of camera movement, and I bow down before his gift of angles.

I went to SAW 2 this weekend, very good and fun movie. Sat next to a guy from Saudi Arabia and he was hiding his face most of the time and throwing his bag of popcorn up.
Also went to Weatherman... Oh crap it was a slow and mostly pointless movie.
But, I feel movies are like music... Art to one is shit on canvas to another.

Saw Weatherman this weekend too. Verbinski is just a great director. It wasn't a great movie by any means, but I think it set out to tell a very despondent, kind of hopeless story and did it quite well. It ends decently, and actually plays with the audience's expectations. Will it have a "movie" ending or a "real" ending? I thought the way they went was cool. It was really a character/family study more than anything else, and moved accordingly. I think the main problem is that the film is being marketed as a straight comedy, and it is most certainly not one of those. It has darkly comedic moments, but it is way too depressing to be considered a comedy in the year of Wedding Crashers and The 40-year-old Virign. Ultimately though, it worked for me. Not to mention the fact that it has a scene with Michael Caine and Nic Cage discussing the particulars of the camel toe. Hilarious!

I saw SAW 2 yesterday and it was entertaining enough. Certainly not an awesome movie, but it moved along well enough and I enjoyed it. Expect your typical stereotype characters and some cheezy dialog, but it was worth the matinee for me.

GOOD NIGHT AND GOOD LUCK is good stuff, though KISS KISS, BANG BANG is the best movie I've seen this year.
Of course, I also found WEATHERMAN oddly compelling. Decent basis, even if the storytelling was a bit off in places.
(it's so far outside 'hollywood' lines I'm amazed it got made)

Good Night and Good Luck was pretty good. I'd not put it ahead of A History of Violence for best movie of the year so far, though.
GN&GL does get you thinking about that particular bit of history and wanting to know more, which is more than I can say for most movies, though.
I'll probably see Doom one of these late afternoons this week, just for the umm, hell of it. :-)

Saw was a good movie, in spite of Cary Elves trying to fuck it up with awfully bad acting.
This weekend I went to see 'Prime'. Kinda had to see a chick flick since I dragged the wife to see 'Doom' last weekend. I liked Prime a lot. It had a few awkward moments but it was very funny and the actors did great.
Next weekend is all about Jarhead. Whoraaah!

Good Night and Good Luck was really good. It will probably be nominated for some academy awards given the type of movie it is and how well it was done. Anyway, it's worth seeing and I strongly suggest it.
As for puns: I don't think anyone shouls See Saw.

Lead actor yelling at death and calling "it" a "fuck" is one of the funniest horror movie moments I will ever see.

Serenity just came out here, finally, straight to the budget ($2) theatre. I thought briefly about seeing it, just because of all the hype here, but I really have no interest in that genre of films.

what genre is that? his stuff isn't about whatever genre it happens to fall in, it is about likeable characters who actually develop over time(his tv stuff, though it still applies to the movie).

I loved the first Saw. It wasn't the best movie ever but it had a lot of neat ideas. I'll wait to see the second one when it comes out on video.

The reason I just can't believe people liked SAW was well, it was just bad.
Sure, I can get through major, gaping plotholes, horrible acting, and the worst twist to ever be in a movie, but the whole movie was based on the "wow man that's f'd up" premise. The best movies don't blatantly tell you what's CRAZY AND EDGY and throw it at your face.
SAW: Like Se7en, but bad.
