Well now, this is pretty neat. 1Up is reporting (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3170366) that the UK is the first in the world to have created a national video game archive.

The videogame medium is, depending on when you start counting, 46 years old. That's still relatively young compared to other popular media, but it's old enough, it seems, to start preserving the industry's rich history. To that end, the U.K.'s first official National Videogame Archive was launched earlier this week, which will house a "treasure trove" of consoles and cartridges ranging from "the humble beginnings of 1972's 'Pong', to the blockbusters of the 21st Century."

That's awesome. They did a thing recently here in Melbourne called game on (http://www.acmi.net.au/game_on.aspx) that was a tour through the history of gaming.

It was awesome to see and play on so many consoles and arcade machines, though sad to see how many were donated for the exhibit by private collectors because (apparently) no one else thought to preserve them officially.

There was something at the science museum in london that might even have been game on which was as you described. Sponsored by EA, computing students were invited along to an opening event where some fellow called Bing gave a speak that was utterly boring and clearly not writen by him, thanks EA! The event itself was good fun though, played lots of classics. :)

One more step towards culturally acceptance. I applaud the UK; Darwin on their money and healthcare for their people.

That is so great. I'm already planning a trip to the UK and this would deffinitely be something I would go to. I even think my girlfriend would be interested in it.
