Want to play a DS homebrew game across the internet with your friend? Well that might be possible soon thank's to Steve Stair (http://akkit.org/). He's done a lot of work going though code and hardware registers and has documented (http://www.akkit.org/info/dswifi.htm) the DS wifi system. Not only has this earned him $1406.57 from the DS Wi-Fi Bounty (http://sc.tri-bit.com/dswfb/) website, but this will open up new opportunities for homebrewed DS games.

This could make getting homebrew games working on your DS a lot more attractive...

Thanks to Slashdot. (http://www.slashdot.org)

I wonder if you could mod older games to use a homebrew WiFi...

Would this make running emulators and games on the DS any easier? You still would need an empty cartridge correct?

Yes, you would still need to buy something to get the homebrew working. I was wondering if homebrewed wifi enabled games would encourage people to take the extra step to get an empty cartridge who otherwise wouldn't have.

I remember the days where you would buy a system and then buy games for said system. You would play them, then they would collect dust.

That just doesn't give kids a rise anymore these days.

I still have all of my NES games... they've been collecting dust for years and years now (with the exception of a few which are great for parties...).

Then again, I also have some old sega games, my SNES games, my N64 games, some playstation1 games, some playstation2 games, some original gameboy games, some gamecube games... Yea, the days of games collecting dust after being played isn't over quite yet.

Carnisaur,

You hit the nail on the head! I just traded mine in for a quite reasonable sum.

Yeah, thanks to my psp trade in(among other things) I'm not spending a dime for my 360 when it comes out.

Say, does anyone know the best flash memory adapter to get for the DS? I see some that use Compact Flash but I'd prefer to grab one that uses a more modern type of flash mem.

I've been playing NES games more than anything on my psp. Homebrew on a DS would be sweet.

I just upgraded my firmware in the PSP to play some of the newer games. Part of it was debating on trading it in and part was to try out games I didn't play because I didn't want to upgrade. Picked up GTA and love it. I have also gone back and started playing a few others that are not too bad. Actually, World Series of Poker is taking up a little PSP time too. Now I am not sure I want to trade it in.
