spoutblog has posted a short Q&A with Watchmen director Zack Snyder (http://blog.spout.com/2008/10/02/zack-snyder-wants-to-conquer-hollywood-video-games/), talking about the recent revelation that he will be working with Electronic Arts to develop three new video games. (Story (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65618))

spout: So the Electronic Arts deal, is that for original games?

Snyder: Yeah, it’s orignal stuf that I’m going to develop for them. So basically, I have three titles that I will hopefully make with them.

spout: Do you have anything in mind?

Snyder: Yeah, I’ve got some things… for me, I really want to kind of blow it out to where I can do a video game, and start to develop a movie along the same lines. That way we don’t have like a short-lead game, but like a real game that has a real movie with it. One that really goes all the way.

Interesting concept, not just a cash in? Crazy.

This would be great if it worked sold a lot and showed other devs and studios that if you make it great they will come.

Guess well see. I'm doubtful though, heard it all before to many times.

Come on Peter Jackson.

My one concern is that it suggests a belief that games are just tools for movies.

"We won't just have a game" as if that's not good enough. Probably just the way things are worded.

I predict there will be 12 more stories regarding this game. These stories will go relatively unnoticed. The game will come out in the shadow of the movie. It will score 6's and 7's. It will sell around 250,000 to 500,000 copies, and will fade into obscurity within a few months.

The end.
