1UP (http://www.1up.com/) has posted an article and an official patch (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3145139) from Rockstar Games on how to unlock custom music tracks in the new GTA: Liberty City Stories.

They've released a "Rockstar Custom Tracks" program enabling players to rip tracks off of commercial music CDs, covert them into a format the game can recognize, and import them into GTA: Liberty City Stories.

The problem? You can't rip anything from CD-Rs (even if you own all the music on them) or music downloaded from iTunes and other music services. That doesn't mean support for legitimately purchased online music won't be added in the future, but they won't work now, and it's doubtful random MP3s off LimeWire will suddenly become fair game.I'll have to get this!

Well, too bad I don't buy CD's anymore. Screw you Rockstar.

They never learn! And this time they can not blame it on hackers.

How's the radio station music on the game?

I have never bought a CD in my life, so I guess this does nothing for me :P
^^ That doesn't mean I pirate all my music, if I hear one song I like I'll download it, but thats like one song every few weeks.

Awesome. Can't wait to grab this when I get home. Just another reason why this game ruulz. Personally, I love the radio stations in this one. It all smacks of GTA 3, which I prefer. The original songs in GTA 3 were hilarious, and only helped to reinforce the serious lampooning they were giving American culture. This one is a return to that, and I say hurrah. I haven't really spent a lot of prolonged time in the cars so far, mostly out doing missions and such, but what I have heard so far is great. I can honestly say that I like this GTA better than San Andreas and Vice City. And it looks freakin' fabulous on that screen. If only the analog nub was a bit higher on the PSP body. I get cramps after a while :)

I'm glad that a game company is policing my music collection to determine which music sources I have that are acceptable to them.

I've got my opened package of GTA:LCS sitting at home waiting for me to throw out all of my emulators, text reading programs, 3rd party puzzle games, Doom and self-written programs. Plus, it looks like I won't be able to rip Virtua Tennis from my UMD copy to a memory stick because the load times annoy me. Also, I lose out on my cool street-cred for owning an original 1.5 PSP.

I've always wanted a walkman function so you could listen to music while you're not in a vehicle.

hey is this game worth getting do you all think? I'm debating heading over to the store and picking one up...I've kept my psp till now, waiting for a good game. Most of my friends have already pawned off their psp's for DS's and ipods.

If you like GTA, then yes. If not, then probably not.

Definitely worth it to me, but I have enjoyed all GTAs thus far. If it was an old school 2D version I still would have picked it up.

It's a fantastic game, but only if you like the series as it is essentially more of the same.

thanks for the input guys...I just bought the game, and you're right, it's basically the same exact thing as the ps2 ones, with a new story. And since I never really played through any of the ps2 ones, this is pretty cool. It will also be nice when we can customize the radio station.

BTW, what really won me over, was finding out that Michael Madsen was the voice of the main guy. After that, nothing could stop me from buying it, even after the guy from the game store said the game sucked.

btw everyone, I found a workaround to get your mp3's in the game. and by found i mean saw on a forum.

Just make an audio cd image with your songs, mount the cd with daemon tools, and viola...works with the rockstar converter program.

If I'm not allowed to talk about this kind of stuff on these forums please let me know, I'll delete my post.

Even easier than the above post, just burn a cd using itunes, you have to name the tracks in the program but it works like a champ.

Those who have played GTA:LCS, any thoughts on load times? I find most UMD games load on the slow side. Hope this isn't the case with GTA.

Those replacement knobs for the PSP are awesome. I was having hand cramps with the standard knob and now it's much better.

No more hand cramps!

Ok, now that just sounds bad.
