From the rllmuk forums comes a post by Tsietisin that he has rigged together a working "Revolution"-style controller and tested it in Half-Life.

Tsietisin: "I thought to myself that I could come up with something very similar using components that I already have at home, so thought I would give it a go."

Process and results, theres a movie link in there as well.

See more here (http://www.rllmukforum.com/index.php?showtopic=104969&st=0)

Tsietisin: "As I say, needs practice from me and I do think that regular gamers will take some time to get used to it, but once they get it down right, it will be the best controller out there."

Who is this Tsietisin and why are we quoting him?

This is super cool and very inventive; however, from what I understand, the Revolution controller will recognize many additional types of motion that the setup Tsietisin has configured.

Yea, I doubt this is anything that will compare to the Revolution in motion quality, but it's a neat idea to get a rough estimate.

If this is something that's afordable, sounds like someone could make a quick buck selling motion controllers before the Revolution...

The revolution controller should be more accurate since it relies on a pair of sensors placed near the tv (in addition to a gyro?), the mouse Tsietisin uses relies on gyros. Everything I've read about the revolution controller suggests it's very intuitive and takes very little "getting used to".

I hate to tell you this, but you misspelled "Evilavatar". Common mistake though, don't beat yourself up too much over it. :)

The Revolution controllers has several gyros to measure various types of rotaion including yaw, pitch and roll. The sensors near your TV are used to determine the distance from and position in relationship to the screen.

It really is a revolutionary 3D device.

This is stupid. There's no way someone could possibly know the final controller will function.

Not to mention the game is not designed for such an interface.

Don't pay attention to Zeal. He's cranky and mean all the time.

Just look here for examples: http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/search.php?searchid=120793

It looks like the ONLY thing he agrees with is when someone else trash-talks the Revolution controller.
