Welp, here's some more good news for those anxiously awaiting the Xbox360 NXE and integration with Netflix. Shacknews is reporting (http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/55024) that with an agreement with Starz, they're increasing their catalog by 2,500 titles.

Netflix has "significantly" expanded the number of films and televisions that Xbox 360-owning subscribers will be able to stream through their console this fall.

Under an agreement with Starz Entertainment, Netflix will add roughly 2,500 movies "and other choices," along with a live feed of the Starz TV network, to its library of streaming media. This is done at no extra cost subscribers, with the first 1,000 or so additions already live.

Films covered under the deal include Spider-Man 3, Ratatouille, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, Superbad, No Country for Old Men, Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert, along with an as-yet-unaired first full episode of the movie-inspired television drama Crash.

The Xbox 360 will gain Netflix steaming support as part of the fall software update, expected in November. Until then, Netflix subscribers are limited to watching streaming media through their internet browser or specialized set-top box.

Very cool! I'm pretty excited about this feature and plan on using it since I have a Netflix account. Never saw the point of watching on my PC but having it streamed to my home theatre..now we're talking. My only other wish would be it be HD.

As far as i know the video quality is determined by your connection speed. I have my computer hooked up to my TV for a monitor and they always look great when streamed to it...

I seem to remember that when streaming was initially introduced to Netflix the amount that you could use it was dependent on how many movies your planned allowed you to have simultaneously. So, if you had the "two movies at a time" plan, you could stream two movies per month. Is that still the case? Those rules meant that I've never used the streaming feature and never bothered to look if they'd changed the policy.

All plans allow for unlimited internet streaming. I have the cheapest plan ($9.99) and have no restrictions as far as streaming.

The original limit was one hour of online viewing per dollar spent a month on your plan. So if your netflix plan cost you $18/month then you got 18 hours of viewing.

However they took off the restrictions months ago for all the "unlimited disk" plans. Here are the details from their website:

"For most plans, there's no limit on the number of movies you can watch instantly. Plans with limits on discs per month come with a fixed monthly number of hours of instant watching, while plans with unlimited discs can watch as many movies instantly as desired."

After the announcement, I got the Netflix, and for what it's worth, I like the regular membership with them as much as I like the streaming downloads, and it will only be buttercream frosting when the new "Experience" drops in.

Bye, bye, Blockbuster!

Sounds great and all but didn't you hear? Digital distribution is not the future;)

Not sure if you guys have heard of this, but Play ON (http://www.themediamall.com/playon) allows streaming of Netflix, along with Youtube and Hulu, to your PS3 or Xbox360. Just got this working yesterday for my PS3 and it works pretty well. Only downside is that after the trial runs out, you have pay $30 or so to register the software. Hopefully xbox update arrives in 30 days ;)
