Today, FROM Software released a new trailer of [eM] -eNCHANT arM, an RPG for the Xbox 360 from the creators of Otogi that features both offline and Xbox Live gameplay.
Looks pretty tasty.

Note to bapenguin - the title of this game really screws with the 'news posting guidelines'. :)

Yea... that's a pretty annoying name. I guess reversing the normal caps makes the title more "extreme". Things that have gone "extreme" annoy me in general though, like that new loonie toons show. There goes my childhood memories :( .

Looks like somebody at From left the caps lock on.

There better be a significant reason why thos letter are capatalized or bracketed, like something to do with the story, or I am ever so slightly annoyed...

My new game: pwnd j00!! n3wb!: First Assault
It's a WW2 FPS

Japanese rpg for 360? Hmmm.... tasty.
Hope it plays as good as it looks.
Now if they will give us the option to have the original voice with subs...

Ha. Hahaha. haha... ha. oh dear, that was a good one. It's no fun to port a game unless you can mess it up somehow...

Name doesn't make sense at a conceptual level.
Name doesn't make sense at a syntactical level.
Name doesn't make sense at a grammatical level.
Therefore, name makes perfect sense at a foreign-marketing level.

Anyway, looks fairly derivative to me... androgynous characters summoning demons seems to be the equivalent in Japanese role-playing games of, say, mouselook in American first-person shooters.

Anyone else notice that the only un-capitalized letters spell EAR?

What could it mean!?

Actually, it's EEAR. It may be something, but more likely not.

Jeez, this reminds me of all those Xbox 360 ARGs.

Isn't someone going to complain this game has a guy with a heart saxaphone. I remember a lot of griping about that one thing.

eh, looked okay. Nice big environments with no life in them.

I'd like to see more of the games interaction, hopefully they will show more engaging designs/gameplay/storytelling in a future trailer.

Has just about every typical anime cliche' in it so far :P

I wonder if Xboys will suddenly stop making fun of Sony and its "gay jRPGs" when the Xbox FINALLY gets Japanese RPG love of its own.

It would be highly ironic, wouldnt' you all agree?

Nah, they'll simply move on and hammer some other genre.

Nah, they'll simply move on and hammer some other genre.I think the surgery and dog raising genres are the next target.

Really though I think people who hate JRPGs will still hate them, they'll just complain about FFXIII and long for the days where they weren't even offered on the Xbox.

Concerning EnCHanT @rm, I think it looks pretty good. Cliche sure, but most JRPGs are. It's all about the gameplay and how the story/characters develop.

I dunno, I just don't like Final Fantasy. I loved Chrono Trigger. And Tales Of Symphonia is sort of a jRPG i guess. And i'm gonna pick up fire emblem....i dunno.

Just watched the video and it looked pretty neat. I hope to hear more abouts this ones.

Of course it looked neat, it was all FMV (or appeared to be). JRPG trailers NEVER frigging show actual footage. That pisses me off, as a JRPG lover.

I don't think that would qualify as "ironic", it would strike me more as being "hypocritical".

Then again, I own all the big three current consoles and a decent pc rig, and I still don't care for Jrpgs, no matter the system of origin. I just don't find them engaging or entertaining. Your mileage may vary, obviously.

I did find Wind Waker thoroughly charming though, does that count?

There were actual gameplay screens in a Famitsu a few weeks back and they actually got me pretty interested in the title. My only criticism is that I thought some of the colours could do with being more vibrant. There doesn't seem to be much word on how the game actually plays, but you can put that down to the usual sub-par Famitsu previews.

Most genres are inbred to some extent, with their own cliches and orthodoxies... but JPRGs are the most unashamedly unoriginal, IMO. The artistic style, plot, characters and gameplay are often virtually indistinguishable from one game to the next.

The same can be said about any genre really.

Nothing amazed/impressed me too much with this video.
The FMV was on par w/much of what we have seen during the last gen. The in-game (and there was in game if you looked closely) looked average and comparable to today's higher end console work.

Now, I know I couldn't do anything that these guys have accomplished, so I'm not knocking them. But if it is your job to create and work on videogames, it seems like you would really want to make amazing titles; both visually and playably.
