Canidate for Game of the Year in several SpikeTV categories, Ubisoft has announced that Peter Jackson's King Kong The Official Game of the Movie has Gone Gold.
Today Ubisoft announced that Peter Jackson’s King Kong The Official Game of the Movie, based on Universal Pictures’ 14th December release, King Kong, from three-time Academy Award winner Peter Jackson (The Lord of the Rings trilogy), has officially gone “Gold” on the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system, Xbox video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, Nintendo GameCube system and Windows PC. The title will launch in Europe on 17th November 2005.
The Game Boy Advance title King Kong The Official Game of the Movie will be released on 17th November. While the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft version of Peter Jackson’s King Kong The Official Game of the Movie is slated to go “Gold” the first week in November, it too will launch early December, 2005, alongside its console counterparts. PSP (PlayStationPortable) system and Nintendo DS versions of Peter Jackson’s King Kong The Official Game of the Movie will launch soon thereafter.
For more information on Peter Jackson’s King Kong The Official Game of the Movie, please feel free to visit the official Web site at www.kingkonggame.com/uk/. (http://www.kingkonggame.com/uk/.)You have to wonder if the Xbox 360 version of King Kong or Gun (another multiplatform release) will be at all enhanced over their "last generation" counterparts.

I really hope enough people kick up a stink and force Ubisoft to rethink the practice of including StarForce with the PC install... But that's a whole other topic of conversation.
Oh, and thanks for the news, Evil.

I played the demo briefly at an X360 kiosk and I thought it looked pretty good.

I didn't bother with it because of that starforce crap.
Totally not worth it.

I thought the XBox 360 version I played looked quite a bit better than the demo I played on PC. The difference though, could have been lower-res textures, etc on the PC demo to make it more easily downloadable.

I'm a bit skeptical about the GBA version of the game, seeing as though a DS version is coming out the same day. I can only assume that they gave the GBA version a different name for that reason.

I liked the demo, but I'm not sure how they can turn that into a whole game.
The Starforce crap is really annoying, but I installed the demo anyway since I already have Starforce from when I installed Splinter Cell:CT. I haven't noticed it being a problem for my PC, but it sounds like I'm in the minority.

I've never had a problem with it either, so that makes two of us.

I think GameSpot had betas of the PS2 and X360 versions of Gun and they said that the X360 only had sharper textures. Controlling was much worse than the PS2 but you hope they have fixed that by now.
But for hell sakes, a Dreamcast game usually has better textures than a PS2...

I also didn't download the demo because of Starforce. To me it's not so much a matter of whether or not it impacts performance (though if it does that would be another reason not to use it), but the principle of the thing. There's no point in Ubisoft including crap like that in there.
It's too bad - I wanted to try this game. Might have to find one of those 360 kiosks.
I really wish they would rethink the name of this game. Wouldn't just plain ol' "King Kong" suffice?

I agree, but I'm afraid that not downloading a demo isn't going to change anyone's minds at Ubisoft. Rather, writing the company, and telling them how annoying and counter productive their practices are, will at least get your message accross in a more clear manner.

I. Hate. Starforce.
Is it me or have more people been affected by asshole copy protection as of late? I mean consumers who actually bought the product. Fuck, downloading a torrent and getting a cracked game to work is easier than what some legitimate people have to go through. That's not right.

Starforce is so retarded as a game theft preventer. All it does is make poeple who would have legitimately bought the game avoid the purchase. The people who want to steal it will crack it and go right ahead with their piracy. Way to go, Starforce!
I wonder if Ubisoft has seen any drop in sales since they started using it.

Using a starforce cracked game is a chore, though. You have to disconnect IDE drives and all that bullshit. It was never bad, though, because only shitty games used Starforce at first (besides my Beyond Divinity game...which isn't shitty). Now Ubi has insisted on it with a few games of late. It DOES cut down on pirates...maybe...but it also cuts down on the people who would actually buy your game, when the protection will just fuck our computers up anyway.

I have had so much problems with theese new protection programs. I had to crack my copy of fear to be able to play it :( how crappy is that? I also had problems with Chaos Theory that also uses that protection. I have not re-installed the game to finish it since in reformated my hard drive because of starforce. Why are we the people that buy the games!!! made to suffer, but if I downloaded a torrent of the game I would be fine :( something strange here

Simple - these companies care about profits. They don't give a rat's ass about their customers.

Never thought I'd have to hear that said about Ubisoft, the one hufuckingmongous publisher than seemed to care.
Alas, it's true, StarForce is dog shit recycled to look like copy protection.
On the plus side, I might get this for PS2, looks pretty funkay fun!

That alone was enough to make me laugh...and to be very wary of this title. But it does show some promise.
