CDProjekt's update to its critically-lauded (http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/pc/witcher?q=the%20witcher) RPG has hit stores, fixing the major issues of the original and adding two new adventures:
Some of the most noticeable changes include greatly reduced loading times, re-done English script (5000 lines modified) and completely new German voice overs, improved game stability, greater NPC variety, an easier-to-use inventory with a separate alchemy sack and more than 200 new gesture animations that make dialogue scenes much more natural and dynamic.
As previously promised, if you've already purchased the game, you can download all of this new content for free (http://www.thewitcher.com/community/en/www/installation_of_twee_in_four_easy_steps.html), starting today. However, the new box contains a bunch of goodies like swanky manuals, cloth map, and extra CDs.
If you haven't been that impressed with the past few years of RPGs, this game will make you love them again.

I believe you can get the imported version from here (http://www.gogamer.com/The-Witcher-Enhanced-Edition--IMPORT--Front-Page_stcVVproductId50886692VVcatId444710VVviewprod .htm)
Actually, this one (http://www.gogamer.com/The-Witcher--I--Uncensored-Edition-PC-Games_stcVVproductId23661470VVcatId444758VVviewpro d.htm) is cheaper. Not sure of all the differences and restrictions though so you might want to do some checking around.

For the Canadians who have the original version of The Witcher, you'll need to request a CD-key from Atari.
The 1.4 "Enhanced Edition" content patch requires you to register your game before it installs, and to register the game you need a CD-key. Regrettably. the Canadian bilingual manuals weren't printed with any CD-keys (even though the game installs without the need for one).

The reason the second one is cheaper is because it doesn't have all the improvements/extra stuff that comes with the enhanced edition. I bought the witcher enhanced on steam(I like steam) to support the developers, but I am "acquiring" the European uncensored version because I do not like playing games that have been edited because some people are prudes. Please support the developers on this great game and buy it so they will release more great games.

I pre-purchased off of Steam. I have been waiting ALL week to play it. I am free all weekend!
My hard drive just died on me. I have ordered a new one, but it won't be here until next week.
MAXTOR SUCKS DONKEY ANUS.
Not really sure what my point is, other than I have it and can't play it.

I got the Witcher as a pack-in with a GTX 260 and I've been holding out for this patch. :D

I only recently started playing it, but i've been having a blast. Looking forward to the shiny newness. The download server has been getting hammered all day though - slow as hell, and it's been getting disconnected a fair bit. Use a download manager if you grab it.

The game does feature subtitles.

Best luck is going to be to lurk the official forums until someone releases the patch. The uncensor patch for the original game came out pretty quickly when the game first came out, so I doubt it'll be long before a new one is out.
The game is great - with the new stuff it is even closer to perfection.
A big "thank you" to the developers from me, for the best game these last few years.
I can't see it on steam, maybe it's not available in Britain on steam? It's on impulse so I'll try that, I like stardock so that's cool anyway.
What I really don't need is another avenue to buy games digitally though, I spend enough already on steam :P
Suck balls, you can't buy it on impulse either in britain.

I'm definitely picking this up before the end of the year. I haven't played a good RPG since Gothic 2, and I'm itching for a fix. ;)

Thus far it looks nicer, runs a LOT smoother, and loads a MUCH faster.
While the character models definitely look nicer, i'm getting some kind of weird aliasing on them during dialog scenes that's a little distracting.

I get the same thing. It's like I'm looking through a screen door at them.

Force AF to whatever you want in your video cards control panel and set the games AF to 1 to get rid of the pixels.

It's a real shame that I finished the game shortly after it came out, cause I'd love to see how much better the game is. With how linear the it is, though, I'm not sure I want to play it again simply to see improvements they made. Best 80 hours I ever spent in a game, that's for sure.

I don't even remember if I registered my game or not. I used a CD-Key, of course but whether I registered is a mystery. Perhaps they are the same thing in this case. Some software has this as two separate steps. The next time I'm in Windows I'll get the patch. Not sure when that will be. I avoid Windows like the plague.

Man, I really want to try this but haven't had any luck yet. It just been crashing on me at various points of the install all day. Once I finally got it to install cleanly, it crashes when I try to load it. Apparently there's some sort of issue with EAX that can be resolved by backing off the audio hardware acceleration slider a notch, but that hasn't worked for me. Now I'm starting over from scratch one last time, hopefully this will do it. But, geez... not having a lot of fun so far.
I kind of wish I didn't buy this early from Atari's digital distribution deal. With steam it would have been much easier to re-download everything. Granted, it'd probably still crash on me, though.

I've been having the same problem with this copy as I did the original.. I start the game, and then it crashes before even the atari screen loads up.. I get the vista "the witcher has stopped working" and I can't get beyond that.. I have the latest drivers and such..
