Mod HQ have scored an interview (http://modhq.notepadhax.com/index.php?subaction=showfull&id=1130213250&ucat=3&archive=&start_from=&) with Valve's Erik Johnson, covering a wide range of information. With DOD:S and HL2 Xbox out of the door they've been able to get back to the old chesnuts, as well as move in a few new directions. Highlights:
Two CS Source map ports: de_nuke and cs_militia
The two new CS Source player models (http://www.steampowered.com/Steam/Marketing/August5.2005/?l=english) have been picked up again
'HDR versions' of CS Source maps are coming 'very soon' (only a few months then)
A 'mix' of new maps and one port will be out for DOD Source by new year
Steam is to be used to collect play statistics (e.g. most popular classes in DOD) in a similar vein to SiN Episodes
HL2: Aftermath includes one new enemy type

Nothing like a bit of good old content!
I wish ever single game/movie came out on Steam.

So far, since its first release. Steam progressively got better and better and better. I like that I don't need any cd's handy to play these games and if I choose to I can back them up on a DVD :)
All I want now is any sort of TF2 news, anything! (i know, im hopeless) *sniff*

I really want Caen for DoD: Source.
And CS:S has needed more player models for ages. They need to hurry that stuff up.
As for militia and nuke finally making it to steam.. there have been reasonable player made versions of those for ages now. Especially militia. Hopefully valve has some good changes in store for those.

I'm excited for Steam 3 with a working Friends list. Then again, it may already be too late. I'd probably still be playing Half-Life 2 online if that stupid feature had worked in the first place.

How can you people like something as invasive and annoying as steam?
Because I look at a game I want, I click 'buy', and then when the game is actually in stores, I click 'play'.
If only all games were this simple...

Because its not really invasive or annoying, I mean I have it set so itdosent tell me about new games, dosent start with windows, and just logs me in whenever i launch it. Its not always running and easy to turn off, and the multitude of patches is just great. Espcially since if it wernt for steam news, I wouldent notice half of them. It just does its thing, and it does it really well, most of the time without me even noticeing.

It seems like Valve are becoming the new masters of using old IP. Kind of like EA, only with Steam.

Invasive? I've hear Steam called many a thing, but that's a first for me. I'm not sure how your copy of Steam differs from mine, but mine certainly isn't invasive. If I want it on, I turn it on. If I want it off I turn it off. If I want to delete it, I know where to find everything Steam related. Pretty cut and dry, and open, unlike many forms of copy protection being used by games nowadays.

Epics. You need to spend your weekend with 39 people you don't know, getting told what to do by somebody called "L322ETSZ0R!". Once you've done that for about a month, you get your epic name.
Good luck!

I think it's funny That DeadlyDonkey told Draft that, when Draft is the one with a purple name and not him.
I certainly hope that Valve means at least three or four new maps for DoD:S... But I'm sure it's something like one or two.

Because I have to. It really sucks when you play for quite a few hours one night, and wake up the next morning with a sore cornhole.

After reading many interviews with Gabe N and Doug L pimping the fact that Valve would be working with mod developers to have their work released over Steam, I'm still waiting to see it actually done.
Please Valve, come through on a promise for once. Thanks.

"A few months" does not feel like "very soon" to me.

Well, no offense, but with the story already convoluted, i really don't need much more thrown into the mix just yet. I'll settle for some plotline advancement starting from a familiar location... ya know, like a story.

VALVE's really promoting steam with all kinds of goodies: ragdoll kungfu, alien infested, they hunger LS, sin epis, and aftermath epis.
Sweet :D
The store doesn't load up on my Steam, neither does the update news or something. I'm guessing some incompatibility between my IE or .NET install and steam or something... but its annoying as hell. I do like steam though, just wish it would work on my system.

That's my idea of a joke. ;)
The Source/Steam platform allows you to have a direct relationship with your players/customersI think that's aimed at Source licensees. Like you say they did mention they were working on something for modders, but that was what, two weeks ago?
