Full press release:

Welcome to LittleBigPlanet – a world of infinite possibilities, where imagination becomes reality and the powers of creation are firmly in your hands. Coming to PlayStation®3 on 24th October 2008.

LittleBigPlanet is a new, ground-breaking PlayStation®3 (PS3™) game, combining an amazing platform adventure with a huge social community. There are places to explore, creative resources to collect and puzzles to solve – all requiring a combination of brains and teamwork.

But that’s only the beginning. The fun really starts when you begin to build your own LittleBigPlanet. Using an advanced physics system which takes full advantage of the PS3’s power, players have the ability to design, shape and build both objects and entire locations for others to view and play, bringing together for the first time the three biggest elements in gaming - play, create, share. Even the game’s central character Sackboy is customisable.

When your world is ready, you can invite anyone within the LittleBigPlanet community on the PlayStation®Network to come and explore your creations, or go and explore everybody else’s - it’s a brilliant way to meet some new sack-buddies!

LittleBigPlanet, already garnering plaudits as one of the most hotly anticipated titles in video game history - is one of the year’s biggest releases. This October LittleBigPlanet is going to change the world of gaming forever
Can somebody PLEASE gift me a PS3? PLEASE!

Yep, although SCEA has not put out a PR yet. This PR is from SCEE, no way of knowing that though because they don't talk about the country.

Four days before my birthday. I have a feeling this would have made a great birthday present if I didn't already know I was going to buy it at launch. :p

Don't forget about the other big title coming out: Spider-Man: Web of Shadows!

Take Fallout 3 out of the equation, that comes out the 28th. Unless you want to amend your "week" into "two weeks".

So, just get your ass to Norway and pick it up :p

Eh, I'm likely to rent a lot of them....especially Dead Space, as I only see it being a possible one time play through. With Fable 2, there's an online co-op component. FarCry 2 has a map maker and multiplayer. Fallout 3 could see multiple plays and lengthy first run to begin with. And LBP...well, shit...it's got replay written all over with.

AgtFox

I was just writing down all the games (considered at or near AAA titles) coming within less than month:

10/14
Dead Space
Saints Row 2
SOCOM: Confrontation

10/21
Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia
Fable 2
FarCry 2
LittleBigPlanet
Midnight Club: Los Angeles
Spider-Man: Web of Shadows

10/26
Guitar Hero: World Tour

10/28
Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3
Fallout 3
Motorstorm: Pacific Rift

11/4
James Bond: Quantum of Solace
Resistance 2

11/7
Gears of War 2

Which to rent and which to buy?

Gorvi
09-16-2008, 11:48 AM
Add to that list Sacred 2. I know I've been waiting for a good co-op Diablo clone for a while, and that alone is makeing me buy that. I think that's November 11th. Valkyria Chronicles is mid November too. Oh, and the Star Ocean remake for the PSP is the 21st too.

From LBP's release to the middle of November I'm buying 5 games, that's more than I've bought all year up to this point.

Re-read, I said in the time of a month. Left 4 Dead comes out November 20th. Last time I checked the time between October 14th and November 20th was not less than 31 days ;)

I did forget World at War though, think that is the 11th...although I'm not interested since it is Treyarch versus Infinity Ward.

I'm more excited by this year's releases, there's a good 7-8 games that I'd normally want to buy quite a bit that I just won't have the time/money for. The only game from last Fall that I never got around to was The Orange Box. I still need to get a copy of that for the 360.

Your list, out of curiosity? I'm probably going to get Fallout 3 and the wife wants LEGO Batman, but I'm set after that.

I guess a big part of it for me is that last year Nintendo had a handful of excellent titles, and this year they don't. There's about the same amount of stuff on the 360, but on average the quality looks a step down.

Not that I can play it, but Resistance just holds no interest for me. I expect Gears to be better in almost every facet, even though I'm not anticipating it very much, either.

I'll sell you a broken PS3 80gb. You just have to pay Sony to fix it, which runs about $150. Or talk them into fixing it for free. I'll even toss in a couple games. :)

BTW, totally serious.

Eh, I don't know what it is about Resistance that really grabbed me. Not playing many FPSs, it's odd the games I really latch on to in the genre. Last gen it was Red Faction and Doom 3, so far this gen it's Resistance and Bioshock. I only play FPSs single player, and sometimes co-op,so multiplayer never really draws me to a game. Like I said earlier, I still really need to get The Orange Box, I enjoyed the first Half Life quite a bit.

You really do. It's such an improved game from the first in every aspect - and it's the only FPS I've played through more than three times (I've played through HL2 about 5 times).

Actually apparently you can fix it for far cheaper, if you know how to do it. Parts for the lens/whatnot are $50. Hell, I may look into doing it myself if it's easy enough. No idea.

Yeah, it's been bugging me. Hell, I can remember when I was one of the few people truly excited about Portal, then it came out and blew up (and after that I wanted to kill the next person who thought they were clever w/the whole "the cake is a lie" line). LittleBigPlanet is the title that will sell me a PS3. Not this October unfortunately, but in the first half of next year I will have my hands on this game. I can't wait! Hopefully I can hook up with some EvAvers for some level-creating mayhem.

As far as big titles go this fall, I'm looking forward to this, Fable 2, and....a couple others that I can't recall at the moment. I doubt I'll buy any of them at release though, since I'm still catching up on older titles that I missed. I will buy Kingdom for Keflings when that goes up on XBLA though!

There's an error in the title. It should read (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calendar_date#mm.2Fdd.2Fyy_or_mm.2Fdd.2Fyyyy_.28mo nth.2C_day.2C_year.29) "10/21 NA - 24/10 EUR"

Guessing that wasn't fit since he's a scot.
