If you want more information on Gas Powered Games upcoming RTS/RPG you might want to check out this interview (http://gamingnexus.com/Article/Demigod-Interview/Item1965.aspx)on GamingNexus. They chat with lead designer Mike Marr about the design ideas behind the game, how you control your demigods, and the level design in the game. He also touches on the copy protection in the game:

Piracy is a huge issue in the PC gaming space right now and almost all solutions to prevent it negatively impact both the customer and the developer. It hurts everyone- developers have to spend time implementing solutions like Safe Disc, when they could be focusing on making a better game and customers start having to deal with issues like needing their CD, a key and only being able to install a couple times!

Bottom-line? For this title Stardock and GPG believe that the solution to the problem is worse than the problem itself.

It's nice to see a company looking out for gamers after the Spore debacle. Does this attitude make you more or less likely to purchase the game (assuming you were interested in the first place)

It definitely buys them some good faith with me. The game still has to be good (fingers crossed.) But I don't get to buy all the games I want, so this gives this a foot in the door for me, while Spore and Mass Effect (while thoroughly wanted) go unpurchased by me as I don't want to support what I perceive as unethical business practice. Or rather, I don't want to be treated as a criminal for doing the right thing.

If the game is as good as it looks in concept then I'm sold. When ever I'm on the fence about somthing, DRM almost always tips me over into the no purchase side. I'm glad these guys care about our business too.

I preordered as soon as I played this at PAX. The incredibly smart approach to DRM just helps me feel better about my purchase.

The game sounds interesting, and Stardock's approach to their customers is very appealing (ie they do not assume we are all theives).

So yes, this approach definitely increases the chances I'll buy it. That said, the game has to be decent too (I didn't buy Spore or Mass Effect, but also haven't bought Sins of a solar empire as it doesn't interest me).
