Oh boy! I am loving this bit of news from Team Xbox (http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/17538/Valve-Confirms-Left-4-Dead-Demo/): Gabe Newell, managing director and co-founder of Valve, told VideoGamer.com at Leipzig Games Convention that they will release Xbox 360 and PC demo of Left 4 Dead.

Best part of it all? Newell confirmed that you'll be able to play single-player and co-op in the demo.

The game release November 20th, but there is no word yet on when this demo will be released. Hopefully it's before rather than after.

Co-Op Demo? Yes please! I can't wait!

Awesome. This looks right up my ally so a demo will be great!

I didn't need a demo to know I wanted this game, but it'll be great to just play this over and over with groups of people here.

I'd want the demo just to be sure they didn't somehow screw the pooch on networking in the 11th hour. But beyond that, yeah, looks like a must buy. :D

I will check the demo out, but I've been sold from the start. The PC version will be steamed on to my computer as soon as it is available.

Agreed, the demo will be nothing but a preview for me, assuming they release it before the game actually drops.

considering the game is intended for coop rather than single, it's hardly surprising the demo would be coop as well...the supririsng part is that it has a single player component.

Good to hear. The demo can help me decide whether this is a rental or a purchase.

I bet you go with "purchase".

I bet you go with "purchase".

You're probably right, but the financially sound part of me is all "do you need ANOTHER new game this fall??" Luckily the part of me that loves killing zombies and playing co-op is bigger and wiser.

I hope it's good. I've already told my son, brother and a friend I'm buying them all a copy. We live in different parts of the country and have not played together since WoW, which we all quit about two months after the last expansion. Some zombie splattering makes for a nice family outing. :D

This game will kick so much ass....360 or PC version will rock.

I hope that the PC version turns into more of a beta than just a demo :)

Sweetness. Hope it comes out before the full game. I want to play it as early as possible since they pushed the release back to the 20th. Getting the PC version on Steam as soon as it is available.

Very cool, I remember the HL demo is one of my favourite ever, so...

Why is anyone surprised that the demo will have co-op? There's nothing else to put in it!

This looks right up my ally

As a multiplayer-focused game like this, this is definitely a PC buy for me. I mean, look at the side-by-side of COD4 multiplayer, or TF2. Just wait, people will be complaining about the "host advantage" like they constantly were in GoW on 360.

If you have a PC, get it for PC. No question.

I am going to take a vacation this fall for some great gaming fun, but when should I do it? The week of or after Fallout 3? Left 4 Dead? Fable 2? I have no clue. I was looking at the first week in November, but that's also election week...and I will probably be depressed or anxious around that time.

Grrr, too many games. I hate it.

This is great news! I'll definitely download this and see whether or not I completely suck at this game. That will decide whether or not I purchase it, since shooters aren't exactly my strong suit. :p

This is about as surprising as the fact that the Schizoid demo had co-op. Still, good news that there will be a demo at all.

Hmm. Does this mean that the Steam preorder folks won't get early access like TF2, or will the demo drop after the street date?

I was planning on buying the game anyway but this is good news since I'll hopefully get to play a slice of it a little early.

Great news but something tells me that the demo won't be out until after the game has been released.

Anyone taking odds?

This game will make me buy a gold membership AND make me fix my NAT problem on my router. Zombies!!! the board game in FPS form...nice. Of course Zombies!!! is making it's way to Xbox Live also. It's good to be alive.

As a multiplayer-focused game like this, this is definitely a PC buy for me. I mean, look at the side-by-side of COD4 multiplayer, Way more people on this site played CoD4 on the console. For one, the maps were designed with console in mind, and when you allow as many players as they did on the PC version, the whole thing devolves into a clusterfuck.

My friends playing the PC version of CoD4 didn't play it very long, where the EvAv 360 CoD4 crew played for months. Mileage may vary :)

That said, I play TF2 on PC and will do the same with Left4Dead.

I didn't need a demo to know I wanted this game,
I don't need no manual to know how to ROCK!

Yes! This demo will let me know if I need to upgrade my rig to get the most out of the game.

It will also serve to get some of my friends who haven't tried it yet (or heard of it! shame on them) hooked.

I would guess that if you can run any Source game, you'll be fine. It looks like a Half-Life 2 mod (not a bad thing).

I don't need a demo to figure out whether or not I buy this, but I am excited to be able to get an early taste of this game.

Would this demo really make or break anyone on buying this? I'm on this game like white on rice, regardless of a demo. The demo is just going to give me blue balls til the release product hits.

My laptop is unable to handle this (unless I go 800x600 or turn down some of the graphical goodness), so I will most likely go console on this.

If they release their demo before release and the graphics don't bother me, I might still go PC after all.

My guess is it's for the people who may be doubting the replayability and are deciding between a rental and purchase. The first taste is free...

I think for most intelligent individuals its a no brainer. :D EDIT: I meant to buy it outright...not try the demo before purchase!

Replayability-wise, out of our three groups at PAX, the same demo level unfolded completely differently for each of us. I could see me playing the game many times over.
