Troika may be dead, but the patches keep coming for Bloodlines. This patch brings your copy of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines to version 1.8. Lots of dialog and quest tweaks in this version.

The game deserved better then the state it was released in, it's good to see someone's up there taking care of that.

"Too little too late."
This game was like a beating. Every minute I spent playing it, it felt like I was under a barrage of pain.

Troika had some great ideas, but released their games WAY to early. I love so many parts of ToEE but it was by far the buggest game I ever played.

Um, the game as of now with the unofficial patches is one damn good game. If any of you were turned off when it first came out as bug-ridden as it was, give it another shot. It's an awesome game.
I'll definitely be giving the 1.8 patch a try. I've already done the game as a Malk, perhaps I'll try Brujah or something this time.

Circle of Eight is doing a Keep on the Borderlands total redo mod using the ToEE game. Looks to be shaping up quite nicely. Their COE mod of the original made it somewhat more playable, though there was still some horrible bugs.

God I loved that game....playing it again now.
All I care about at this point is a nude patch.

Hey fuck you, Trokia is doing this from beyond the grave, they're doing it out of love for the game and fanbase, nothing "too little" in that.

Playing as a fighter type is fun, but I did my second character (or was it third?) as a social character and see all the shit I missed. Being a heavy fighter really just makes the game go by faster, as the fighting is almost a joke when you have maxed physical stats.

Was i the only one that thought the end of the game was really really hard? All those guys with Aug's.......*shudders*

I don't think anyone formally from Troika works on these patches. I think it's just a dedicated fan of the game, considering that the fixes don't fix engine related bugs, but rather script and quest related issues.

Well someone loves the fucking game enough to do it, whoever it is they aren't getting paid. There's no "too little" in something like this.
I beat it after the first patch and didn't notice any problems. Meh, whatever. Great game. RIP Troika.

I absolutely hated the first - Masquerade or whatever...that was the worst action RPG ever, with the entire game on tracks. BL is cheap nowadays and hopefully it is a HUGE improvement over the first - I might pick it up when it hits $10.
I loved Bloodlines despite its bugs. Some of the gameplay was awesome.

VM: Bloodlines and KOTOR 2 are both games that could have been absolutely awesome if it wasn't for a 100% shitty ending to the dev cycle. For whatever the reasons, both games were robbed of greatness.
Ain't that the story with 90% of PC games, though. It's a damn shame.

Yeah, KOTOR2's ending was so stripped down it felt almost impressionistic. And sadly the detailed character development that was there was hard to get to, since in a single playthrough it was hard to get a high enough relationship with everyone (sans cheats).
I'll grab Bloodlines when I have a PC again, as these patches seem to have brought it up to a playable level.

I need ToEE2.
NOW.
I loved Vampire although it had obvious problems.
When you are faced with all these main-stream games now-a-days you sometimes have to play through bugs and laggy framerate to experience some ground breaking gameplay. Too bad.
I also liked ToEE alot, but it was sooo unfinished. The quests seemed thrown together at the last minute. I just couldn't ignore all the bugs to play all the way through. I tried at least.

I would rank Bloodlines as one of the best games I've ever played without hesitation. I patched to the latest official patch when I started playing it back in March or so and was lucky enough to have no issues whatsoever. I was totally immersed almost immediately and it didn't let go of me until I finished it. The last sections of the game were a little disappointing in that it devolved into straight up hack'n'slash but that didn't detract from the overall experience for me.
I didn't find the game particularly difficult playing as a Tremere, especially once I got Bloodshield. Towards the end of the game I had maxed defense, heavy armour and Bloodshield which makes for a pretty resilient vampire. The only opponents who seriously got my attention where the Sabbat Warform Tzimisce (mostly because I was low on blood) and the Quei-Jin minions with the flaming crossbow bolts.
I'll definitely be giving it another run through sometime soon. Most likely as a Malkavian as that is supposed to be a pretty different social experience from the other clans.

When this patch says "All dialogues were spell checked for typos and more," was the dialogue changed from using American English to British English (spelling)?
After Half-Life 2, Bloodlines was easily the best PC game released last year, it had a level of depth and intelligence that was somehow missing from Driv3r, Lesuire Suit Larry and Catwoman.
EDIT: I didn't have too much hassle dispatching the minions in the end game, as each time I've played it I was always a bad-assed vampire by then, but the two final bosses were a major pain in the crack.
EDIT EDIT: Mephistopheles, I just noticed what you said - I REALLY recommend playing as a Malkavian, especially as a 2nd or 3rd run, the entire social side of the game is totally changed.

Not really a sequel, but this mod is looking nice (http://members.optusnet.com.au/~shiningted/). Screenies here (http://members.optusnet.com.au/~shiningted/gallery.html).

I really count this as one of the best games I ever played. For whatever reason I didn't run into any game killer bugs when I played through it. Looks like I need to buy another copy though since mine vanished.
