Comic Day! Because you need a break from it all. Click here (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=63608) to join the discussion, and for a look at what will be in stores this week, head over to Diamond's new release lists (http://previewsworld.com/public/default.asp?t=2&m=1&c=6&s=428).
And this week, on the sublime Johnny Gigawatt & the Tiger Men from Mars (http://johnnygigawatt.com): learn exactly which dirty words caused the entire run of All-Star Batman #10 to be pulped,
Picks of the Week
Trinity #15 - A few weeks back I was wavering on this series. The pacing seemed slow and there was too much focus on a character, Tarot, whom I have no connection to. Now it's a different story. The scope and scale of the story has become suitably epic, and the early emphasis on the Trinity's differing personalities is now paying off. While it doesn't approach the complexity of 52, it doesn't really try to.
Dark Tower Treachery #1 & Stand Captain Trips #1 - A double dose of Stephen King comics? Be still my beating heart. While the first Dark Tower series, The Gunslinger Born, was good it was the second one, The Long Road Home, which really hit it out of the park. Now in addition to another Dark Tower book, we get the debut of the Stand comicization (what? it's a word). The creative team for this adaptation - Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Mike Perkins - is a little less high-profile, but I expect the same top notch results.
Secret Invasion #6 - This is here more out of inertia than any other reason. The series has progressed pretty much as expected: the main series has been good to very good, but most of the tie-ins have either stunk or had little to do with the story itself. This issue is clearly the beginning of the end, so expect at least some resolutions.
Question of the Week - It's time for the fantasy editorial league. Give us your dream book: writer, artist, character. The sky's the limit.
