IGN (http://www.ign.com) has a handful of new screenshots (http://media.xbox360.ign.com/media/749/749072/imgs_1.html) up of the new Sonic the Hedgehog title coming out for the XBox 360.

i dont think screenshots do any games justice anymore. shots did great back in the days of quake and the various 2d/3d games, but now with all the lighting and the rendering and the aa and af and crazy stuff that goes on, only videos do them justice.

Yeah these screenshots dont do it justice, seeing it in motion is alot more impressive than the previous Sonic games.

Well, even after seeing the video, that kind of game could have easily been done this generation and looked the same.

I don't know what it is, but I just don't like seeing Sonic in these very realistic environments fighting Voltrons or whatever.

How about going back to bright, cartoony environments and silly looking enemies?

The recent ones seem much more geared towards the fans of the recent cartoons. Over convoluted plots, intereaction with regular people, stupid "rawk" metal, angsty anti-heroes... yuck.

Whatever happened to "Save your Forrest Friends!"?

There's more character in Sonic 3 & Knuckles than a dozen Sonic Adventures.

Well, even after seeing the video, that kind of game could have easily been done this generation and looked the same.

I've heard comments like that a lot. I think for the most part this is going to be SOMEWHAT true, especially for earlier titles on the PS3/360. The real leap this generation is going to be in physics, AI and enviornment interaction. I think we are at a point with graphics that they really aren't going to get THAT much better, only incrementally.

I hate it, HATE IT, when games try to do metal......why do they even try, serioulsy its insulting. Either get licenced bands or fuck off.

Does anyone even care about Sonic any longer? I loved the Mega Drive (aka Genesis in the US) originals, but that was then... Let's move on, invent some new IPs and quit relying on past glories. The same could be said (to some extent) about Nintendo, but I'm not going there!

There's a whole new generation of kids that are into Sonic now, but a lot of them found out about him through the saturday Morning cartoons and the later anime series.

I still like Sonic, but the sonic of the 16-bit megadrive era. I just wish they'd drop all this convoluted poofery and just get him back to his roots. Run fast, break tvs, kill robots. Sonic team seem to be edging back towards this style with the new DS Sonic Rush, so maybe they have learned something after all. But then, they are also releasing Shadow the Hedgehog, which looks like poo.

Last Sonic I played was Sonic CD, which was most excellent. I wonder if my Genesis CDX still works...

The cartoons suck, and so do the crappy games they have based off of them. In particular, the supporting cast not named "Tails" or "Knuckles."

Hey, at least it looks like theres some effort going on here. Heroes was one lazy ass game.
