Fans of Morrowind will be pleased to hear that Jeremy Soule is also going to be the composer behind the Oblivion's soundtrack. He was nominated twice for Outstanding Achievement in Original Music Composition by the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences for his work with Morrowind. Check out the details here (http://rpg.boomtown.net/en_uk/articles/art.view.php?id=9598).

Good to hear, but not surprising.
I'm a big fan of Jeremy Soule, ever since playing Total Annihilation. He's done the music in so many games, only a few of which I have played, but I always like it.

The music was the only great thing about Morrowind, so this is good news.

Nice reference Giga! I completely forgot that Soule composed the score for Total Annihilation!
Talk about fantastic gaming music....wow. This definitely isn't surprising news, but I still can't wait till hear what he's come up with this time.

This is good news. I bought the collector's edition of the Elder Scrolls, and it came with a CD with the score on it. Awesome. I sometimes still play it in the stereo, it's like listening to Bach.
I may have to get the collector's again for Oblivion.

This guy is perfect for Morrowind music. He just knows how to set that legendary feel to the game. Let us hope the drums don't wake the standing town folks at night, whom I often bump into in the dark.

Um...to each their own I guess.
This is great news, they are really pulling out all the stops for this game between the voice talent, grabbing Emil from the Thief team to redo the stealth gameplay, and now making sure they have the best composer in the game business. Oblivion is going to rock!

Soule is one of the top composers, but he isn't the single best one. Nope. Sorry. It ain't so.

All right, perhaps he's not the single best, but definitely one of my favorites. I'll chime in with my verdict: Yay!

He is great. I also liked the Diablo music though. Did Uelman do anything else for Blizzard? Or other games for that matter?

Obviously. I mean, you guys just bought the game to sit at the main menu and listen to the music play, right? Like I did?
Right?

Morrowind and Total Annihilation Halo 2 and the original Rainbow 6 had such good music. I have all the music from each game and listen to it all the time

Hahaha, ah haha, ha, hmmm... Yeah, funny. Reeeaaallly, funny.
But if you're serious, no. Cause the same music plays in game.
Really, are you serious?

Do you think he's serious, Sazime?

If you do believe me, then I have a business proposition for you. It involves a certain deposed african warlord, and it will make you a very rich man.

I agree - Diablo 1 and 2 music is absolutely fantastic.
As for Soule, I like his stuff too. Absolutely fantastic, except, I thought his work for Morrowind was...lacking, and often quite boring.
Hope his music creation in Oblivion is a huge improvement over the last.

I do agree that his work for Morrowind wasn't his most memorable. The theme was pretty good, the rest... eh. Although I have the same experience with Guild Wars (correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that's Mr. Soule too) - strong theme, and then standard atmospheric music that isn't displeasing, but not something I found particularly striking/exciting. His work on Knights of the Old Republic, though - I really enjoyed a good deal of the tracks.

Great news, I still have the Icewind Dale soundtrack on my mp3 player, which I think is some of his best work.
