Deep Silver sends word that the ship date for S.T.A.L.A.K.E.R.: Clear Sky has been changed to September 15th.
Hermosa Beach, Calif. -- Sep 08, 2008 -- Deep Silver, the games label of Koch Media, a leading producer and distributor of digital entertainment products, today announced that due [to] a problem in manufacturing, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky will hit retail stores in North America on September 15, 2008. The digital download release date has not yet been determined.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky is a survival FPS game for PC based on a 'what-if' scenario of the second Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant accident. The game is created as a warning to mankind against mindless play with technologies. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky is the official prequel to the renowned S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game by the Ukraine-based GSC Game World studio. The game is set in 2011and brings forth the events to have preceded the third campaign of Strelok to the Zone center. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky introduces an alternative look onto the events of the original game and offers the player to try himself out as a mercenary s.t.a.l.k.e.r. in search of his own path in the world of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
This may well be the excuse I've been waiting for to reinstall the original... How long before someone complains about the misspelling of the title?

I keep forcing myself to play it ( I have it on steam), but I am awful at PC fps games, and this one is especially painful for me to play, may end up getting pinnacle to play it.

It's still funny, though.

Not really. Each time someone types it that way, a kitten becomes sad.

Oh, and on-topic: Sadly it does not seem like the announced collectors edition is available in my country (or anywhere, from what I can see), so I'm getting the vanilla version this time around. Too bad because I like the CE of the first one.

It's still funny, though. I find it funny as well. On a side note, I am still excited for this one even though it is getting some mixed reviews. Sounds to me like more of the same (which is a good thing, since STALAKER left me wanting more). I am also glad they added more things to shoot with your badass weapons. Mmmmmm AK74 with mad attachments.

Gentlemen. I implore you, purchase the original and mod it with Oblivion lost + Arsenal Mod...the game is leaps and bounds better. I loved it how it was to begin with...this just makes it cross that membrane between "a personal favorite" to "truly excellent"
(also patch the standard game appropriately though as well)
otherwise let all us fans look forward to a new adventure into the zone.

I was just going to say, I just got off the phonr with a friend who works at Wal-Mart and he said the have had it for at least a week now. I figured he was mistaken or it was some kind of fluke with the Wal-Mart here. I'm pretty sure I read on EvAv some where that the delay was because the retail boxes shipped with out a CD key and were recalled so I don't know how safe Wal-Marts copies are.
I'm grabbing it off steam; I hope that a few patches will make it as good as the first game was. The first games 1.000 was pretty much unplayable.

I still need to play through the first one. If only I could somehow slow down time.

Stalker love + Drunk thread = Stalakar epicness.Nope, that's actually not where it came from surprisingly enough.
Originally it came from I believe Moose_Master (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/member.php?u=9248) if I remember correctly. He made some crazy ass post about STALKER with the alternate spelling we have all grown to love. What made the thread meme-worthy was his posts tossing around insults something like "whore of a flower" or some jibberish.
I really wish that thread was still around.

Sorry, I didn't mean the 'real' drunk thread... What I actually meant to say was that someone started a thread titled "Stalakar stories" (or something similar) whilst being drunk. So I meant drunk thread literally, not as a proper noun.

It was either drunkenness or lack of sleep, I'm too old to remember.

According to Don Reba, the head moderator on GSC's forums who has contacts inside the company, the project manager was recently fired for allowing the game to be released with so many bugs.
So, basically.
Stalker: Clear Sky ~ Playable in Early 09!?

Whenever the third patch comes out, it seems. :(
I'm still gonna try it as soon as it's available... being the fanboy that I am.

Sometimes I wonder if the original + the Oblivion Lost mod will actually be better than Clear Skies. We'll see.
Usually I hate mods with a passion because all they do is make the shotgun shoot faster, trash the ambience, introduce a stamina bar, make all the plastic guns do 10x damage, or worse, make cats and dogs rain out of the sky.
But Oblivion Lost manages to improve the game while leaving it the same game. It's got to be seen to be believed!

In response to an earlier post, I too have seen the game on sale at Walmart. This past Friday, if memory serves me right. So uh, go get it! Or not, depending on if you want to test the buggy (digital) waters.
