There is currently an eBay (http://cgi.ebay.com/Xbox-360-Game-console-IN-HANDS-not-a-pre-order-NR_W0QQitemZ8227699416QQcategoryZ62054QQrdZ1QQcmdZ ViewItem#ebayphotohosting) auction going for an "in-hand" xbox 360.

I own two(2) Xbox 360's. I know your asking your self how did I manage to get these extraordinary machines in my possession lets just say I know people in japan in high positions & places. I am not selling both Xbox 360 systems ofcourse im going to keep one for my self but the other one I am selling. The system is brand new in the box . There is no reserve price , and free express shipping. unfortunately I do not have a Paypal account as of now because I am currently in the progress of changing banks. As an alternative I accept money orders , and IKOBO electronic money transfer. I do understand that this is an inconvenience to most ebay customers , so thats why I have made the express shipping free to compensate you . As soon as payment is recieved I will ship the system the following day. That means that you will have the system in your hands (2) months before the release date. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Happy bidding ! Whether this is a scam or real is up to you to decide. I personally believe its a scam, him saying he "knows people" in japan doesnt seem to hold too much water since this system is due in america first, but who knows... If it is real, guarantee its a stolen walmart display and not some sort of hookup.

It's a scam. The latest and greatest scams on eBay, buysell.com, etc... all have to do with third-party escrow services that the scammer has somehow learned to loophole. Buyer beware doesn't even begin to cover these assholes. Lately, if you drop an auction on ebay or some other high-profile sales site, you may end up recieving at your registered email account some 'hi my sons birthday is coming and i will pay you the top price of your item immediate now but i dont use paypal but i know how use bidpay 4 u alright plz sell immediate no other offers plz thx' which basically means 'ship me your stuff, and I loophole the reverse pay method on this less-than-reputable escrow service. Good times!

Yup, scam.

In the magnificently unlikely event that this is a real auction... it's stolen.

Anyway, eBay should have valid reasons to take it down, as this product is not out yet on the market.

Most of those pics are swiped from Major Nelson (http://www.flickr.com/photos/majornelson/). The closeups are on page 1 and the second-from-the-top pic is from page 4. I can't find the top pic in Major Nelson's collection but I assume the "seller" just ripped it off from another source. The fact he provides no images of the boxed system is another pretty big tipoff. Also note that iKobo isn't an escrow service, so this guy isn't even pretending to offer any sort of guarantee.

I've reported the auction to ebay as a scam... I'm sure others have as well. Hopefully no one will lose their money to it.

I love how the pictures of the unit don't even match, they have different case covers. (On top of the entire thing obviously being a scam.)

I, shockingly, have never actually bought anything off E-Bay, so am not familiar with it. I would assume there is some way to report this auction as a fraud and have it terrminated. Or perhaps one of us that are "hooked in with MS big time" might be able to e-mail a MS rep to and have them pressue E-Bay to take it down.

SWEET!!!! I'm going to bid on it now!!!!

But wait...I won't have any games on it (unless I could rob a Wal-Mart kiosk). If I hook it up to Xbox Live (assuming it would work now) I probably couldn't play any games w/other people. Live would also know that a 360 was online, which I'm sure MS wouldn't like. Assuming all of the marketplace stuff was ready, I'd have no one to swap stuff with. Plus, we still have no idea on which games are bc.

But it would look cool sitting in my living room! ;)

Yes, there are ways, but eBay makes it fairly difficult for people. You have to really look around in the "support" area (I use the term vaguely as it's hardly supportive or helpful) and find links to send various types of reports there.

Scam and a half, man he could make it so much more effective if he would have just popped by an EB and took a snap of one of the empty boxes they have there..

Preordered mine last night, oddly the EB near my house wasn't selling it as a bundle for a million dollars. Probably won't get it in the 1st shipment but I can wait a while. Still have a million XBOX 1 games to finish..

You will have to excuse WoodenTaco, he knows not what he says. MS has really solicited the Japanese developers this time around. They have a ton of support when compared to Xbox1. There are several developers in Japan making games for the Xbox 360.

By the way, I just got back from the IGN Live event...Call of Duty is awesome!! I'm glad I preordered it (along w/Kameo, Condemned and the now pushed back Elder Scrolls: Oblivion...I here we get it in Dec.).
