With the Gizmondo set to go on sale this Saturday, CNN's Game Over column (http://money.cnn.com/2005/10/19/commentary/game_over/column_gaming/) takes a look at the new handheld gaming system, declaring it (in essence) one of the weakest launches in the industry's history - even taking the N-gage into account.

The system is sub-par. The games are barely worthy of mention. And the extra features just won't appeal to the gaming audience the company is targeting. Somewhere at Nokia, someone's feeling pretty good about the N-gage's launch all of a sudden.

OUCH! I have to say, though, that this seems like a particularly useless handheld. I would rather pull out my wanger on a bus and play with that than pull out a Gizmondo!

40+ seconds to turn on a handheld. To turn off press the power button twice then scroll down a list of options and hit turn off.

Yeah, that eclipses the craziness of the NGage.

No I'm thinking Ill just move the preorder money to the phantom. If I dont do it quick I doubt Ill be able to get one on launch day.

Thanks Chris for pointing out the obvious. Engadget, Joystiq, EvAv, and FRN have repeatedly said that the friggen thing was going to fail, and it isn't going to fail because of the packaging.

on their website it says that they have a "gizmondo store" somewhere. i wonder how long it'll take before they shut it down.
