IGN (http://www.ign.com) has their review (http://xbox.ign.com/articles/659/659062p3.html) up of The Warriors from Rockstar Games. Apparantly the combat system in The Warriors is very deep and rewarding.
Users who want to make the most of the system can also chain light and heavy attacks together for a series of different combos, and further chain those into finishing throws. Special attacks can be used for canned cinematic strikes that include pounding people with elbows, knees, and other appendages, and when you throw in rage attacks (powered assaults used via a special meter), counter moves, team strikes, projectile throws, the ability to use various kinds of weaponry (no guns), and different moves for every Warriors, and you'll have plenty of reasons to throw down with the opposition.
I still have no interest in this game. Does anyone?

I still have no interest in this game. Does anyone?
I certainly don't. My money is going to be spent on the Batman Begins deluxe edition!

If it was in the $20 bin, I would.
Thinking of $20 bin, I ordered Worms 4: Mayhem for $19.99 from Gamestop! (No shipping, no tax.)

I still have no interest in this game. Does anyone?
Not me. I remember seeing this in a Game Informer as the next big thing from Rockstar and I was just like, "What the hell is that?"

I'm an old fart (forty-freakin-four), and I thought the movie itself was silly and overrated (by some) back when it was released. I have no desire to play a game version of it.

I don't either, I saw the movie when I was young and impressable, but that was long enough ago where I have no interest in the game. :(

it would be cool to see this go online where you would build a virtual city so to speak. then it would tunr into mmorpg of sorts......

Um...the movie is a cult classic. It's certainly not the best movie ever made, but it is damn fun watching it. I've heard the game stays very true to the movie and I'm looking forward to it.

Not really. But if I hear some reviews saying OMGWTFBBQ! I'll pay attention to it.

We have a yearly showing of the Warriors at our office. So we're definitely looking forward to it. I'm just waiting for a Hawk the Slayer game...

Didn't like the movie and will bet even money that I won't even try the game.

I dunno, I think it sounds kinda fun.
Plus it's got co-op. Any game with co-op gets a look over from me.
I might have to wait on it a while, releases being what they are, but I definitley want to get it at some point.

I remember that the Warriors film was the first i ever saw on video.
Actually the site gave this game a decent score. I may get this because i love beat em ups with 2 player co-op :)

Um...the movie is a cult classic.
So that automatically makes it A) a good film, and B) a good gaming property? Harold and Maude is a cult classic too, but I don't see any geriatric sex simulators hittin' the market...
If anything, I'd imagine the Warriors game is better than the movie. It's just not a property I have any interest in.

hahahaha, you are my hero. I think the thing that gets me is that Rockstar is acting like I should love the idea that they're doing this. I couldn't care less.

Although I know little to nothing about the movie, the review makes it sound intriguing on its own - an open world game with a good fighting model, good AI, and full storyline coop that allows joining in at any time. Although I'm not crazy about it, as a big fan of both fighting games and coop, I'm interested to see what other reviewers say now.

I enjoyed the movie, but as soon as I found out it wasn't on PC my interest in it faded. I've thrown so much money at this rig that I almost feel guilty playing games on anything else :(
The movie is good, goofy fun, and the game looks to be, too. It's about time someone made a good brawler again.

Btw, this is the same IGN reviewer that gave GTA:SA a 9.9. Proceed with caution.
Here's ideas for some other gaming properties Rockstar could buy up and tell everyone they should buy because they're making it:
- It's Pat! http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110169/
- Some Like it Hot http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0053291/
- Touch of Evil http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0052311/
- Earth vs The Flying Saucers http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0049169/
...and many more old film IPs ready to be ransacked for fun and profit! And because Rockstar has so many fans, everyone will buy it!

It's a co-op beat-em-up.
If the game plays well, they coulda based it on Tootsie for all I care.

Jesus Christ, some judgemental assholes in here.
Maybe Rockstar made the game because they, you know, liked the book and movie? And not to impress you personally? I don't care if you don't want to play it, I'm not that excited either and I liked the film, but don't shit on it out of some twisted spite. At least not without playing the goddamn game. Play it, hate it, and then make the shocking deduction that Rockstar likes money.

The movie was retarded and I bet the game will be just as retarded.

Buckfutter's words are a bit harsh but I have to agree with him. It costs me very little to add this to my Gamefly queue and try it out, and I enjoy a good coop beat-em-up. Could be that I'm less cynical because I'd never even heard of the movie before this game came out.

No interest at all. Too many other great games to be playing right now.
If this had come out in June, it probably would have had a chance.
Forget about the movie. How good of a movie do you need to have a beat-em-up based on it? I'm sure whatever plot there is will do just fine.
As for me I'm quite looking forward to this game since reading the review. It's been a damn long time since I've played a good beat-em-up which this appears to me. I think a grittier bloodier version of streets of rage with a lot of depth sounds damn appealing. The multiplayer mode seals the deal.

I take it back, this game looks good. The events happen before the plot of the movie (I think the movie chase happens near the end). I am buying this game for sure now that I know it's co-op. And The Warriors is a great film, a little hokey by today's standards, but its a nice little snapshot of the "gang-craze" of the mid to late 70s (this wasn't a phenomenon restricted to New York).

It's funny how Rockstar is now bad. It's the classic popular culture attitude. So many people jump on the bandwagon over a company/musician/actor/movie/etc so hard and long and then suddenly there's negative flack about the same company/musician/movie/etc once it's oversaturated...usually from the same people.

Wow, I've never seen so many people go out of their way JUST to say they are not interested in buying something.
I just picked it up ... I didn't like the movie that much, but like a good fighter. So far it hasn't disappointed me.
Come on folks ... before you put something down, at least try it. If not interested, why take the time to say so? It's not like someone would log on and be like, "Oh my God, Whompa 666 isn't interested in the game! I certainly won't buy it now."

For the record, I've enjoyed nearly every single one of Rockstar/DMA Design's games. Except perhaps Manhunt, but I didn't try it anyway. And now The Warriors, because frankly I think it looks crap and not something I'd be interested in.
If I would say that iPods aren't particularly good MP3 players, would you again brand me with the "lol youre a sulky pop culture hater" label? Or if I said that PlayStations aren't built to last?
Wow, I've never seen so many people go out of their way JUST to say they are not interested in buying something.
Mmm, I wouldn't say that hitting the reply button for an article on a news site I regularly read is "going out of my way". :)

how can people say this movie was a classic? I mean it's hokey, but other than that it has no redeeming qualities. They are called the warriors but they spend the entire night running away from fights? How could this game possibly play? It would have to be a cowardice simulator.

I'd play it, as being a fan (the recent 'director's cut' has bits of Lucas-style revisionist crap), but I got all kinds of bills to get through, and more expensive tech to lust over. It'll probably be a rental or a bargan bin hit for me.

There are so few good "beat'em ups" out there. Certainly not many in this generation of video games.
I was a fan of Final Fight and Double Dragon. Haven't read the reviews yet to find out, but I'll probably purchas if they have 2 player co-op, but will only rent if it is only single player.

I agree, why the hell all the negative feedback for The Warriors? I mean if you dont want to get it fine, but you dont have to go on about how stupid it is because it is because you think it looks stupid to you.
Hell i was excited for this game from the get go so ill get it. I can't imagine it being as bad as say Urban Reign, Beatdown, and Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks.
is the game coming out on PC any time soon you recon?

I just picked this up last night and I'm having a great time with it. Very visceral combat and they nailed the look and feel of New York in the late 70's to a T. If you're at all curious you should at least give this a rental. Also, it has 2 player co-op throughout the entire game which I dig.
