According to 1up (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3169669), Valve's upcoming team-based zombie thriller will use dedicated servers on Xbox Live.
Without a doubt the biggest news is that Valve will be running dedicated servers on Microsoft's Live online service. And while they didn't indicate how many exactly they'd have going, they did imply that they'd have everyone covered, as in when you played online, you'd be on a dedicated server, period. That alone should go a long way toward making the game a great online experience, but they haven't stopped there. Splitscreen play will also allow you and a friend to play together on Live from one 360, and you'll be able to slice the screen whichever way you like -- horizontally or vertically.
Thanks to Food Nipple for originally finding this story. I'm planning on getting it on PC anyway due to how well Valve supports their games on Steam, but this is a step in the right direction for Xbox Live games.

I agree, this is a PC purchase (unless your PC is total crap), judging by how the TF2 support have been. This game have me a bit confused though; there is a single player mode with a storyline ala Half-Life, right?

This explains it pretty well.

I love zombies and can't wait for this, but I always felt like they made the game too fast. It seems like you're gliding on rollerblades rather than sprinting away (which should show some fatigue). I'll still get the game day one, on PC.

If there were zombies behind me, I'd fucking BOLT.

I agree with you, everything's moving around at Unreal Tournament speeds. I'm not sure I want that in a zombie game.

Definitely getting this on PC. Much better support, faster updates, and not getting charged for additions or changes.

I support dedicated servers! Peer to peer is shit!
Although, I had read that BF:BC also uses dedicated servers, and the multiplayer there, in terms of matchmaking, partying, etc, is sometimes pretty awful. Here's hoping Valve can overcome whatever was choking BF:BC.

4 players co-op needs dedicated servers?

Yes because peer to peer networking is the only alternative.

Wow the multiplayer aspects for a 360 game are awesome. Great move by Valve... this might have me buying BOTH versions of the game now, since most my RL friends don't know a thing about PCs... but my love for shooters knows that the PC is the ultimate platform for FPS (this isn't meant to start a war, its just MY opinion)
2 player co-op over live with 2 others? Man that sounds fun as hell.

I sware I remember I video where Gabe mentions that some zombies will be slower the more decayed they are. I could just be mixing up the last preview video with all the other zombie conversations I have, though.

It wasn't just the zombies, but also the way all the players moved around. Maybe I'm just getting old but it seemed too hyperactive to me.

There was a mention of this a while ago, that they had originally wanted to keep it slower but it just didn't work. I would really like have liked a slower paced game that emphasised the survival aspect.
A couple of zombies lurching towards you doesn't seem as scary when you can just road runner away.

I absolutely get the slower-pace bit. . . but they made this so freaking frantic that I think that might be part of the fun. Watching those zombies climb up to get at you in those videos is just nuts. At a slower pace it would probably just be too damn easy to pick them off, even with you moving slower too. The faster speed makes the environments important to use properly as kiting in the middle just won't keep you safe.

They don't lurch, they sprint. :p

Devs take note (this means you too Silicon knights .. no I am not bitter not really), the quoted text just made this a day one purchase for me, i.e. a guaranteed sale, in other words profit potential for your company, call it a sale of product, or maybe you moving product to a consumer.... in case I am being too damn obtuse here, THIS IS WHAT MAKES ME WANT TO BUY A GAME.
Now anyone here about Too Human patch adding split screen back in? No, not yet? Nope they still not getting my green backs.

You're just one person. The opinion of one person won't likely swing the perceptions of the developer you are talking about. The internet is about anonymous vitriol, but there comes a point when you start taking things too far.

This the rational I use for the newer zombie movies that feature super fast undead. These are the 'freshly' undeaded and they are really hungry for brains and flesh. The shamblers we are used to from the old classics are the less fresh undead who have decayed somewhat and cannot move at the rapid speed of the fresher brethren (they are just as hungry for brains mind you!).
All this zombie talk has me day dreaming of what the World War Z movie may turn out like. I have high hopes for it!

Hmmm, I wonder if the sales are spouting anonymous vitriol also. Has anyone heard if Too Human is selling well? All I can verify are the complaints from professional reviewers are somewhat mirroring my own.
