I don't understand how you PC gamers put up with patching. It drives me nuts just seeing that there are new patches, especially so soon after release.

I think it is awesome. It means games age like a fine wine. But seriously, they get better with time. And as far as day 1 patches? They generally mean I get to play the game a month early, and I am cool with that.

I see your logic thecrazyd, but it's still not right. Potentially there could be a bug that makes the game unplayable, or extreamly frustrating for me, which would ruin the whole experiance.
I'd prefer to wait and get a more polished product.
Releasing additional content via patches is a different thing, I love that, and there should always be more of it ;)

its highly unlikely a game would ship with a known bug that caused it to be unplayable. Unless it was a bug that affected less than 1% of the customer base.

Highly unlikely? Yes. Unheard of? No way. The biggest offender of this (that I can think of at 5:15 in the morning, at least)? Ultima IX. And that game definitely had issues that affected way, way, more than 1% of the customer base.

I would much rather have a patch than to wait another month for the game to be released due to minor bug fixing. Besides, the game runs bug free and fine on my comp before this patch.

i don't know how you console gamers put up with static game content that never gets any updates.

Many is the time that I have played a console game and found a bug that I would dearly like fixed. I am particularly reminded of on of the Need For Speed games where I kept falling through the track at a certain point.
Also, more often than not the bugs in PC games are so minor as to not affect the gameplay. Anyway, I would rather the developers produce the patch than deny there is a problem.

Most PC games get patched so quickly because there are always improvements that can be made to the game code. The developers have some time between when the game goes gold, and when the consumers get the game, and, if they can about their product, they spend that time hammering out any bugs they may have found.
Patches used to be a pain when everyone used dial up, but with broadband so abundant, a 15MB or so patch totals to 5 minutes of your time. If you're super crafty, you could even download the patch while installing the game.

I downloaded the patch this morning before the FedEx truck was even "out for delivery". SuperCrafty.

Having started working for a big software company, I have a little more patience for the abundance of patches for games. People are working constantly to fix all the problems in a huge software project, but there just isn't time to do everything. Slipstreams are a way to keep polishing the product after time has run out.

I only got to play for 20 minutes today before work. Awesome game and I can't wait to get home and start playing again. I saw the little note in the box about geting the latest patch. I don't mind at all - games these days are near impossible to make perfect. Anyone complaining should try writing a few million lines of bug free code themselves.
If they can do that, then bitch till the cows come home...

It's not just last minute obvious bugs being fixed (or not: vampire), its also probably the first time the game has been run on various hardware/driver combinations, there's always optimizations that can be made... forever really, patches are a good thing, because a great game is never really "done". imo.

No you're not, you did it intentionally. In fact you reposted an image that also contained the same spoiler. If I were an admin I'd ban you forever. That's how worthless you are.

You must be new to this whole internet thing.
EDIT: I'm a bigwig here and I know several admins on this forum. So don't think I'll be going away that easily.

I didn't say get rid of you...shit happens I know that. Sure I was thinking that you need to be banned at first....but I went to work and mellowed a bit....it woulda happened at some other point anyway, if the spoiling of a video games storyline was the worst thing to happen to me ever, I think i'd be doing pretty well (sadly its not.....fucking moving). And all I said was I'm still shocked. I just wasn't expecting that. Fine...I'll find another mortal enemy. And no I'm not new to the whole internet thing I just don't linger around a whole lotta nazi forums on the net.
EDIT: The worst I usually hear on the net (regarding the jewish), is someone calling someone else a jew. Now certain racial groups, is a whole different ball game, one that I hear alot more horrible things about.

Iron, don't back off. It was an A-hole thing to do, he knew what he was doing and it gave him pleasure to know he was annoying.
Yeah, civ, I see your kind here on the net alot. Product of a broken home? Daddy left when you were young? Get a little too much attention from the parish priest? I don't think normal people wake up and decide to be such an ass-hole. You clearly have some issues to work out. I understand, you probably can't help youself but, do you really need to bring us along for your therapy sessions?
It's nice that you have a home here at EvAv. Hopefully, we'll see big improvements over time. I'm pulling for you. Hope your recover goes well.

The admins on these forums are better people than to associate with your fucking kind. If you can get banned for trying to sell gil, then I think spoiling the entire ending of a fresh horror release, one that many of us have been waiting for BECAUSE of the surprises, should be a shoo-in. I sure as hell know which one pisses me off more.
Moderators, please ban this douchebag, prove that shit like this will not be tolerated in our community.
