There's a month left till the holiday shopping season begins, so publishers and developers really ramp up the title output. This week is just the beginning. There are quite a few good games coming out this week, Fire Emblem, Stubbs the Zombie, F.E.A.R., Age of Empires 3, Quake 4, and Shadow of the Colossus. There are just too many choices to make this week. I'm curious to see how Blitz: The League turns out as well.
On the movie/dvd front we have Batman: Begins hitting DVD as well as The Big Lebowski. In the theater we have a bunch of movies and Doom. From the "reviews" that have leaked out so far, Doom has been touted as the worst video game to movie movie, ever. So much potential wasted.

What's up with The Big Lebowski? I hear that has gained a huge cult following. I remember seeing it in the theater years back, and not thinking much of it. Haven't seen it since.

Well it is a pretty damn funny movie. The Coen Brothers are the badest Jewish guys on the block who have made some great films. Not to mention the only decent thing to ever come out of Tara Reid's mouth, "I'll suck your dick for a grand." It is just a damn good movie in general. I'd take Fargo over it anyday tho.

Tara Reid was in that? Hell, I never even noticed.
The biggest thing I remember is "Shut the F@#$ up Donnie!" =)

FEAR and Fire Emblem for me this week. Still, that is a hell of a lot of games. This time of year is always such a pain in my wallet. Ah well, the price of a weak will, I guess.

I'm curious to see how Blitz: The League turns out as well.
Despite being a football fan, I've never been much into playing sports games. Well, while watching football on Sunday, I saw a commercial for this game. It actually looks fun to play since there's more to it than just playing your favorite team.
Here's to hoping Midway can take on EA in the football game market.

I don't know if it's deserving of a "cult" following. I really enjoyed it though, I try to watch it once every year or so.

If this shit is any good, Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi, I'll buy a Ps2...
Other than that Batman Begins Deluxe Edition, only to have them double dip when Batman 2 comes out whenever.
And Doom. If only cause I'm curious to see if someone can beat Uwe Boll at video game movies. Aside from the guy who did Super Mario Bros.

I have been anxiously awaiting Fire Emblem for the Gamecube. But everytime I see that title, I read it as "Fire Emblem: Pools of Radiance". Man, that probably dates me.
I'm also excited about Age of Empires III, but I may wait for a price drop on that one.

Oh God it sucks to be poor. I really want Shining Force Neo, Shadow of Collosus, and quite a few others. However, I'm saving for the 360/HDTV so there will be no new purchases for me.

Uh, don't forget, Uwe Boll doesn't have to make a good movie to still make a profit, since he is working subsidized. That is why they keep going back to him.
X3:Reunion
Fire Emblem
F.E.A.R.
Quake 4(I know it is most likely crap, but it has the quake name on it, can't help myself)
Shadow of the Colossus
Shattered Union(Any buzz on this? Turn-based strategy on a hex map is one of my favorite game types, hopefully it doesn't suck)
Sniper Elite(I made fun of the game awhile back, but I'm always bummed out in any FPS when I run out of bullets for the sniper rifle, so I might enjoy this anyways.
Shining Force NEO
Well, might have to just go to the store with a suitcase.

Cant wait to get my hands on f.e.ar.! I bought a new (bigger) monitor to enjoy it in decent output , my old one was crap -_-
Since i dont give a shit about reviews i will check quake 4 out for myself , probably borrow it from a friend or somethin, and is it just me or am i not seeing any reviews for the pc version of stubbs....which was released MUCH earlier ...goddamn xbox fanboys!
What's up with The Big Lebowski? I hear that has gained a huge cult following. I remember seeing it in the theater years back, and not thinking much of it. Haven't seen it since.
Its really funny , and back when i saw it , twas a very different movie , a breath of fresh air from the TYPICAL comedies that were being spewed from axe-sat.night live actors.

Shadow. Of. The. Colossus.
Played the demo last week. While the framerate was a bit wacky, the sense of scale and the art direction was really satisfying. I LOVED ico and from what i've played so far of sotc, I have to go pick that game up.
I watched a bit of the gameplay about stubbs on g4 while i was channel surfing yesterday. I didn't know it used the halo engine. Looked pretty interesting...if the reviews are good I may pick that up too.
Anyone heard anything about xmen legends on the psp? Going on a cross country plane trip next weekend..would be nice to have a good psp game to bring along :)
btw, not a new release but WTH....ninja gaiden black is kicking my ass (just had to say that)...but i'm actually having fun getting my ass handed to me which is strange... best looking game on the xbox. period. (i'm not resorting to ninja dog just yet heheh )
I was lucky to get my hands on F.E.A.R. a bit early and took the day off.

I'll write a review soon.

F.E.A.R. should arrive tomorrow, I think, since I preordered it and am having it overnighted. This is really the first new PC game I've played for awhile. I picked up Dungeon Siege II, though it was mostly for my son. After that, my top game is Oblivion, which should hopefully keep me going until NWN2.

Oh, yeah. Lots of juicy NWN2 news from last week. We finally got some screenshots (good luck finding them on the web). I put together a brief analysis (http://adamandjamie.com/da/article/screenshot/) here. The bottom line is that the new graphics engine is top-notch and should be competitive with the other games of 2006.
As an aside, I'm working on a campaign (http://adamandjamie.com/da/) for NWN2. It's all-consuming and has really put a dent in my casual gaming this last year.

Well I've liked DBZ for quite a while now. Sure it's not like the greatest or well done anime but it has a certain quality (not a shitty one like of would be so quick to retort.)
Doom. I try to be opened minded. Sure all video game movies suck. Therefore all of them ever coming out should suck. Including Halo then right? Once you here Peter Jackson has a finger in there everyone gets hardons. We to assume everything he touchs is gold, even a horrible videogame genre? The artistic styling of that shadow game does nothing for me. I'm playing through Ninja Gaiden now, and that's all I'll have for a while. FEAR and all that other stuff, looks real nice. Hate me all you won't to, but if it ain't on a Xbox at the moment, it's a waste. Probably be the same for Xbox 360 whenever I get one. My PC can't get that shit done at them moment, not at the quality I would fine cool if at all. I probably could only do the lowest setting if anything.

I'm going to hack up your post Xerxes, because there are some things I'd like to address:
The artistic styling of that shadow game does nothing for me.
And the phenomenal reviews don't intrigue you either? Can you appreciate beauty that isn't just polygon-pushing behemoths like other top-tier games? How about the gameplay and intriguingly original game concept? Only 16 enemies live in this game, and they're all bosses. But it's all a matter of taste, I suppose, so I can't fault you much on this, but I can on the next.
Hate me all you won't to, but if it ain't on a Xbox at the moment, it's a waste.
You're a waste. You apparently enjoy missing some of the greatest gaming experiences of this generation, then. Being a fanboy is one thing, but to be entirely blind to the quality of gaming on other systems and calling it a "waste" is nigh on retarded.
Doom. I try to be opened minded.
Wait a few days and see how the movie fares in the theater. Almost every movie released rakes in at least a couple million, and that means there are people out there that repeatedly watch movies like Alone in the Dark, House of the Dead, etc. These people need to be shot. Do yourself a favor and save your money. You know it's going to suck. We all do. And if it truly does rock and gets some stellar reviews, you can come back here and call me a fucking moron. But it wont and you wont. Use that 10 bucks to buy yourself a book or something, maybe Strunk and White's Elements of Style. You could learn a lot and we'd be better off because of it.
Therefore all of them ever coming out should suck. Including Halo then right?
Yes.
We to assume everything he touchs is gold, even a horrible videogame genre? No. The genre is only bad because of poor directors and producers, and also screenwriters. At least Peter Jackson is familiar with the source material and may make the movie more enjoyable. Still, I'm not a huge Jackson fan. But he did make Lord of the Rings fans happy by staying relatively close to the books. He's not directing, though, just producing. So the movie still may very well suck. Most videogame movies aren't made for quality; they are made to bring in videogamers who enjoyed the games...and with Halo fans around 10 million, that's a lot of potential money, even if the movie sucks sweaty balls.

16 bosses may be cool, and they maybe cool rock giants, but it doesn't intrigue me. Phenomenal reviews do nothing, if that was the case I would have God of War already. Well I'm gonna get that one of these days regardless, I like some greek mythology.
You're a waste. You apparently enjoy missing some of the greatest gaming experiences of this generation, then. Being a fanboy is one thing, but to be entirely blind to the quality of gaming on other systems and calling it a "waste" is nigh on retarded.
Pointless insult? Check. I'm not missing anything. I'm not really a fanboy, I'm stuck trying to buy my first new car so saving every little hundred counts. I said it in context to the pc games like F.E.A.R. That's why it followed the statement about how games like fear look nice or some shit. I have a AMD XP 1800+ for crying outloud. A good gfx and a gig of ram but it's still to lacking for me. Not to mention kb/m aren't my favs. Guess I'm retarded there too huh, damn me for not finding the comfortable.
I still haven't been able to fathom watching a Uwe Boll. Hell I was tricked into watch Resident Evil. I'll be damned if I watch somebody run down a building to. Maybe I feel a little sorry for the Rock. I mean even the Scorpian King had comedic value. That was horrible. I even started in the eyes of J-Ho as she said gobble gobble about eating her lesbian cooch. Actually I played Street Fighter 3 most of that movie. Besides, it's called movie day. By tickets to Serenity and go see a few movies. Maybe I should mention I have a free ticket to see Saw 2. Heh, if that and Doom sucks I can play it safe with another Serenity veiwing.
You will never get steller reviews however. The only thing you could hope for is a 6.0+ on IMDB. Ebert will never say he loved the FPS scene. Even still I wouldn't call you a fucking moron.
I am sure studios know there was no money there. It's kinda like Steven going to EA. Sucess won't be there.

Ignorance is bliss. If you believe you aren't missing anything, good for you. But if you were really saving up for that new car, I'd skip Doom and those multiple showings of Serenity. Also, don't buy too many more games. If every hundred counts, 2 games equal that.
And yeah, I'd call you retarded for not enjoying the KB/M. I'd let everything else slide, but not that.
I'll likely have a cup of F.E.A.R with a potential shot of Blitz in the future.
And yeah, I hate to admit it but I have to see Doom just to see how bad (or maybe good) it is.

I never said I wasn't missing anything. You know what I'd like to play? Alot of shit Capcom did. RE4, Onimusha 3, the whole Devil May Cry series although people hate the 2nd game, I played it and loved it. Only meaning I would probably love the 1st and 3rd more like everyone else. Been wanting to play Eternal Darkness for a while as well.
Didn't you read. FREE, Saw 2 ticket. And $6.50 once a week is hardly $100. Last game I bought was last month, GR 2: Summit Strike for $15. Rather I say in a month, $100 purchase in one month isn't in my budget.
As far as mousing and shit, like I said it's not comfortable to me. I think you are coming off retarded.

Okay. But you did say you "I'm not missing anything." That's why I said what I said. Check out your post again.
6.50 isnt bad. Movies around here are 10 bucks a pop. But still...do the world a favor and stay home and masturbate instead of seeing Doom. Better yet, play Doom.
It's too bad you aren't comfortable with a mouse and keyboard. With FPSs, they excel. Other genres are arguable though. I didn't mean to come off as an ass, I hadn't had the chambers of my meatgun cleaned and I was biting at the chomp.

"I'm not missing anything" helps me sleep at night.
I work for a university. I flash my employee tag as a student cause the only difference is the small text that says staff or student. I'll give Doom a break. To appease the gaming community. If on IMDB it doesn't get less than a 6.0 from the masses all bets are off.
Maybe a sad story to you guys. But Halo was the first FPS I ever completed. The genre always was too intense for me on PC. Oddly enough after several Xbox games I can manage only better. It's not cool to be hot and sweating in front of the computer and leave the game with a headache. Not too mention my wrist gets kinda screwed after too much WoW.

Good for you
Leave him alone kelegacy...if he dont wanna play fps games on a PC then that's his choice, atleast he's not bashing on PC games like most xbox fanboys do.
Since theres no showing for serenity in my region, i shall now ask the following (humiliating?) question : When is the DVD coming?

Yeah i dont get why rabid xbox fanboys bash PC games, seriously thats where their damn fucking FPS's came from. Seriously when i hear "PC games are for nerds and losers" on live i just fucking yell at the idiot explaining the origin of Halo, and Rainbow Six. They don't breath a word against PC gaming after i'm done with em.

H. Bogard you tried to reach through my computer and choke me for having the slightest hope of getting a F.E.A.R xbox360 port... I don't bash pc games except you know the ones most folks can agree are pretty lame.

bap, X3: Reunion's apparently been delayed for NA release. Earliest I've seen is Oct 24th, but I wouldn't swear by it.

Sigh. I've got Shadow paid off but Fire Emblem is seriously tempting me to break my no RPG until 2006 rule...
Arg...
I love the first two FE games on the GBA... I'm assuming the GCN version is more of the same only prettier and probably deeper?
I'd love to get the collector's edition of FEAR but it's a) waaaay too expensive (~$85-90 Canadian at EB) and b) my system wouldn't do it justice. The demo was rather sluggy, for want of a better word. Sigh.
I'll get it some day. Hopefully a bunch of collector's editions will end up in some bargain bin in a year or so when I get my computer upgraded. Till then, I'll live vicariously through others.
