XBox 360 Goes Viral

Microsoft sure loves its viral marketing. After the success of I Love Bees for Halo 2, it gave Origen360 a try. For us here in North Amercia this was a huge dissapointment after the success and fun of I Love Bees. Now, a new campaign (http://www.hex168.com/) has popped up in the form of Hex168.Com (http://www.hex168.com/). The good news is we only have to wait a little more than a day to find out what the site reveals.

Gamespot (http://www.gamespot.com/news/6135857.html) did some rumor control on the new campaign.

Most likely this is just a countdown to the official launch lineup. I guess it's a little more fun than just having a press-release.

Official launch line-up isn't coming until the first week of November, or at least that's what we were told at Digital Life.

Agreed. Lately, companies are all about generating hype. Remember the Sun/Google announcement last week? Meh.

Apple's announcements? Ok, so the video ipod...er ipod that plays video might have redeemed them.

Origen sucked.

It's not so viral if it's what everyone is doing and if they all suck. It didn't work for me.

Of course, I'm NEVER an early adopter.

Viral marketing makes me laugh its semi-clever premsise but then its all done by the frothing at the mouth fanbois who need to know more so they're always thinking about it like some kinda code, then they fantasize and jizz all over themselves and they find out that the actual announcement was something simplistic and mundane, lol.

The thing is its only novel, and when the novelty wears off which it has, then you left with a silly domain and a bunch of jibberish.
