We've already reported (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6024) that the first game in the Naruto PS2 series was coming overseas. Apparently this has caused such excitement that the rest of the Naruto games for GC and the GBA are being brought over to the US. (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3144754)

Recently, when the Playstation 2 game, Naruto: Narutamite Hero was announced for a US release, quite a few people were happy. Some were ecstatic that they were getting any of the Japanese made Naruto games, yet others cried "The GC series is better! Bring those over as well!" Well...those people should be pleased now, as Japanese publisher Tomy, responding to the demand from fans, is releasing the GC and GBA games in America together with D3 Publisher of America.
Well... I'm excited at least.

So, um, what is Naruto again? I know I've heard the name thrown around but no clue what it is.

Its a manga about a group of kids who are ninjas. Its fairly funny, though the later portions of it have a DBZ feel where a single fight lasts for months of releases.

I've played all the games, but the RPG for the GBA is the one I'm most interested in, because it won't have horrible english dubs for character speech. And it's a portable RPG, which always floats my boat.

The show was interesting for about 60-70 episodes, but waiting 30 episodes for one fight? No thanks.

Oh come on, the fights are not that long, wel except for the big fight at the end of series 1. Most of the fights are intersting because they are not purely about power, the winner normally wins by outsmarting his opponet.

I am also quite ready for Jump All Stars to come out in the US. Just so I can find kids play it as DBZ characters and proceed to tear them apart using Ban-Kai Ichigo.

Man, just import the Japanese games and avoid the horrible, horrible dubbing. Seriously, I liked the show well enough (before it started to suck), but the cartoon network dubs are fucking painful.

I do not like this series. Sorry, I don't. Maybe if I was 14 again, and I was watching this rather than DBZ. So I have to say I am not excited at all. But hey, it's got an audience, so I can't say it's crap. :P

I already bought a gamecube just for Zelda, so that shows where my fanboy loyalties lie.

I will probably check out the Naruto games through my friend who is a big fan, but I'm not spending any of my own money until I've at least played them.

So, um, what is Naruto again? I know I've heard the name thrown around but no clue what it is.

I had always seen avatars of Naruto on other forums and heard people quote the anime, but I didn't know what all the fuss was about either. Last weekend I caught some episodes on Adult Swim and I was surprised at how interesting it was. I actually enjoyed it and the characters were likeable.

It's about 100x better without the horribile, ear-stabbingly bad dubbing. Comparing it to DBZ isn't fair--its much much better. There's actually a plot and compelling characters. I thought I had outgrown anime until a coworker turned me onto Naruto. I'm up around episode 90 and its been very enjoyable.

Is the GC version a fighting game as well? I'll have to pick this up.

Well, I've played through both PS2 games already, in Japanese. The problem lies in trying to play the GBA game. Knowing no Japanese makes playing the RPG difficult.

Wow, i'm intrigued Kelegacy, said it was good, without a sexual referance.....it must be AWESOME! I'll check it out.

My cube was bought for RE4, Zelda was a perk though! Well so was Metroid Prime, and the RE remake.

No long anime series is worth watching. Some are lucky enough to stay good into their second season, but pretty much none can sustain it longer than that.

But on the other hand, thousands of people turn 14 every day.

I caught the tail end of a show last night on Cartoon Network, it had a huge thing attached or coming out of a girl's head; it was like a green blob with an eye in the center and had many legs like a spider. Did anyone catch that show and what the name of it was? It had excellent, fluid animation. I thought it was a movie at first, but it seems there are other episodes.

Kelegacy, that sounds like FLCL. Look it up, it's really good.

And the Naruto news makes me happy. I gave up on the anime because of the filler episodes they've been showing, but I keep up with the manga. It's really enjoyable and I for one don't mind long battles if they are interesting.

And kudos to D3 Publisher -- this should get things rolling for them.

That's exactly it! Never heard of it, but thanks to Cartoon Network and yourself, I now can watch and enjoy something new. Damn, if not for Cartoon Network, I'd never get to see some truly excellent Japanese animation. They should dedicate an entire station to Adult-Swim or Toonami themed shows.

Thanks!

Go watch Prince of Tennis. 152 episodes of greatness.

DBZ is largely crap, but I'd give it up until about episode 175 before it really jumped the shark.

Comparisons to DBZ are true in a very general sense but Naruto deffinitely has a lot more going for it, and can and does appeal to much older audiences. The "crap fest" people are talking about in the anime are the stupid filler arcs that get stuck in there so the anime doesn't catch up with the manga. The "true" story arcs are all pretty decent with some pretty cool plot twists and only half the amount of stupid naruto moments. Fights do get spun out over a long time, but NEW stuff happens during each of those episodes, they don't sit in the one place screaming and powering up. What the hell is wrong with one awesomely long fight scene full of well choreographed and (generally) well animated fighting?

Back on topic, I wonder how many of the gamecube games they'll release to start with. I would imagine only Taisen 1 for now, as anything further than that contains characters which won't appear for quite a while in the english version.that means they have another two to catch up with, and a third after this december.

The Gekitou Ninja Taisen series makes for some really smooth (if simplified) 3D fighter action, but the other games aren't much to get excited about (unless you love watching your characters win fights through non-interactive cutscene attacks).

Also known as most confusing anime known to man, well aside from Neon Genesis Evangelion.

I bought a gamecube specifically for Naruto: GNT3. I had a friend with a GC and Naruto: GNT2, but she moved to Sandy Eggo, and I could only do without for so long. I'm happy that others will come to realize how excellent those fighters are.

Actually I hafta say that the ninja taisen series is a pretty average fighter series.
As a fan of the show it's a lot of fun for a while seeing all the characters animated so well, especially their super specials which are just awesome, (I love Sharingan activated Kakashi's Raikiri Rendan, maybe just cos I love Kakashi so much) but it's a pretty shallow fighter that always turns into a button masher when I play it with friends. Very pretty to look at though, and worth buying if you're a fan, but by itself a very average series.

You haven't seen or read the recent manga or anime of it currently have you?
The cursed Sasuke and Naruto fight alone screamed of DBZ with each character powering up more and more. As for the Gamecube Naruto games, i have Naruto 2 import for Gamecube and i heard the other two sequels are the same and i can give a review now and say YOU ARE NOT MISSING MUCH.

Honestly if you want a good 3D 4 player fighting game stick with Power Stone 2. Naruto is just one of those series you'll hate because of overkill. One Piece would be enjoyed if not for the terrible dubbing and shit for balls editing (a pop gun to replace a guy shooting a guy in the head at point blank range?! ARGH). Anime wise you can do much better and I dont remember when ninjas were so flashy and have to rely on bigass showy moves to kill someone.

But if you do want to watch it, watch it without the annoying voices and take with the meh expectation as opposed to "The Greatest Anime EVER" according to so many anime fans.

Mmm, well I've never liked DBZ, and enjoy Samurai Champloo (And Samurai Deeper Kyo, if you can find it), and I've finally got caught up on the subbed Naruto series and been enjoying it. So... give it a shot, you might like it.

The fight games are kinda fun, but the three of them are exactly the same, apart from the character roster. But no other evolution, otherwise. Unless there are some very cool different modes in that damned japanese menu.

Okay. I'll give it a run.
Now, tell me more about this Samurai Deeper Kyo. I've never heard of it, but if it's related to Champloo, I really want to have heard of it.
