1UP has posted their review (http://www.1up.com/do/reviewPage?cId=3144774&did=1) of the XBox version of Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel without a Pulse.
In a typical scenario for Stubbs, you will release a gas cloud that stuns humans, eat a few of their brains (with one of the best animations in any game, ever) to turn them into zombie allies, pull a grenade out of your gut and explode it in mid-air by hitting the button again (something that was considered for Halo but ultimately not implemented), possess an enemy with your severed hand and control him for a few seconds, and then take off your head and roll it into the largest group of humans you can finish.
Can't wait to get my hands on this game, seems like something fresh out there.

Hot damn! I've been looking for a new game all week (but not wanting to waste my money, I've just been checking review after review). Looks like I found a winner.
This is one of my most anticipated games in years, and it's obvious to see why.
1. Bungie's founder developed it.
2. Runs on the original Halo engine.
There's nothing else to say.

There is one other thing to say... it comes out the same week as Shadow of Colossus and only a few weeks before 360 hits. I'm afraid this is one that is going to slip through the cracks for me and many others.

1. You play from a unique perspective
2. Unique story
neither of those 2 you listed.

Couldn't come out at a worse time. I'm buying a copy of Disgaea from a friend this week for $30, got a gift certificate for Amazon that I'm gonna use to buy Kameo, and if I can gather up anymore money it'll probably go toward either Saint's Row or Oblivion (the other will have to wait until Christmas).

Anyway, sounds like an interesting game, but I wouldn't put "based on original Halo engine" as one of its selling points.
Wow, gay priates, ninjas, and zombies, you're blowing my mind! This game does sound great, but Shadow of Colosus is higher on my list.

Halo's engine is great.....for halo, not much else, well at least it wasn't good for much else in Gearbox's hands (I still loves BiA Gearbox don't worry)

I for one am planning on suing the shit out of this company for using my name...after I play this game of course.
Seriously though, I have been waiting to get my hands on this since it first surfaced at E3 a year or two ago. I am glad to see that the positive buzz leading up to the release looks to have come true.

Exactly. Prince of Persia and Mechassault 2 were also victims of this trend. But every year the same thing happens: a glut of quality games in the 3 months leading up to Christmas.
Now, if they had released Stubbs back in July or August, I would have been all over it. Now, it's towards the back of the GameFly queue.

They still made stuff like Marathon. But wait, Halo 2 was sooooo overrated, we'll just keep reminding people how Bungie sucks because the community hyped Halo 2 which eventually destroyed any idea that Live was a place where no cheaters were found.
The Halo 1 engine wasn't bad at that time.

Does this game have multiplayer? I would be interested in a zombie themed blood gulch. As far as the HALO bashing, I think its pretty fair to say at this point that the intense reaction from the haters has to do with their knowledge that they missed out on one of the biggest gaming phenomenons of our time still on the rise. Its like a party they werent invited to and now they are sitting on the curb bitching about those who are having a great time.

I realize that sales eventually picked up. However, when it was first released, it didn't sell well at all. It got overlooked because of all the other great games coming out at the same time. But through word of mouth, it eventually achieved some of the success it should have.

Its an opinion, for me I havn't put more hours into a game ever, the multi is supremely balanced, it has a game mode for everyone, theres always someone to play with (retarded or not), also the story is the best in a FPS if you ask me, i loved every second of HL2 but i felt nothing was really resolved, and nothing really happened, but thats what the xpack will resolve i bet . In terms of SP theres better like HL2, and RE4. But no FPS has had the complete package like Halo 2 for me. (hmmmm all the games i listed there had shitty endings, aswell as Halo 2).

From Ubi Soft. But it didn't sell nearly that many till they packaged Splinter Cell with it. Thats when it hit a million

I think that it more has to do with that a FPS that wasn't on PC, is getting the praise, respect, and sales, that only PC FPS's have got before, and it signals that unfortunatly thats one more thing that makes developers want to develop for consoles, and give the PC a assy port, also people might still be sore about the switch of Halo to xbox from pc, originally it was going to be the next big series on PC (FPS wise), and it was getting rediculous amounts of hype and then Bungie was bought and it was shifted to Xbox, that mayh have something to do with it. I could be wrong though. Am i the only one that can play on either without really hating the experiance. I mean honestly i would RATHER play FPS on PC, but thats not always the case, i don't get my testicles in a naught though i just play whatever on either platform based on things like Multi, number of people on multi. Space on hard drive, how many cds, is it on a DVD, if it has Starfuck.

Ill wait and see on this one. The pre-hype on games lately and how they havent delivered is incredible. Most reviewers gush over games before there released and then after they come out it ends up medicore. A grain of salt is the key word with any review unless your one of the lucky ones to have found a reviewer who shares the same taste as you.

How so, what is so much better, seriously. Name one FPS that is that much better then Halo 2. And one person sighted the Halo engine as being a plus, one person. I didn't I think it'll be great because one of the Halo designers worked on it, and that its a Unique game, and uniqueness is in short supply these days.

What makes Halo 2 good? Honestly, I don't know what made Halo 2 so great. My good friends were so amped for Halo 2, and then after it hit, we had Halo night every night for a month. And we haven't had a Halo night since.
One FPS better? Half-Life (1 and/or 2, but mainly 1). Starsiege Tribes. Q3A. Pariah. Star Wars: Republic Commando. Battlefield 2. (it has alternating camera, but) Hitman: Silent Assassin and also Contracts. Timesplitters: Future Perfect. Thief - Deadly Shadows (even though it also has a third-person camera).
I enjoyed all of those games much much more than I enjoyed Halo 2.
Halo 2 is a decent shooter. But it doesn't offer anything special.

Oh wow ow wow, Pariah sucked ass, lots of ass, Thief is a god damn stealth game, same with hitman. Future Perfect, just, just no. Quake 3 i think not, its not even as good as Unreal Tournament 1, and even then its multi wasn't nearly as fun or vaired as halo 2. Half-Life 1 & 2 are a bit better single player games, but the Mulit has nothing on halo 2, and dont even mention counter-strike because thats a mod that Valve bought because they can't make a multiplayer game, seriously how long is TF2 taking. And Yeah i'll give you BF2 on mulit but the single doesn't even have half the AI halo 2 does. Thats another thing that pissed me off about Half-Life 2, the AI was worse then HL1. And its really really scripted. The combat in Halo 2's single player was way, way, way, way, way, way, more dynamic, F.E.A.R. is the only FPS with better AI as far as i can see. Republic Commando was a Halo rip off, so was Pariah. Now Republic Commando was an awesome game, but it didn't have good AI, and had assy multi. But it did have a good cast of characters. But none of them were half as cool as Sgt. Johnson ("Don't make me take off my belt"). When your trying to prove that Halo sucks don't you dare mention Halo ripoffs.
Why does every FPS thread have to turn into a HALO2 sucks debate? Who are the haters desperately trying to convince?
I dunno, but the gaming community really needs something better to argue about then Halo 2 vs X game and why Halo 2 sucks or doesn't suck, and the Nintendo Revolution controller.
Also it has something to do with Fanboys of certain games and the mention of said games that just makes them go off. Be it for or against said games.

Because it has an ass load of gametypes, weapons configs, vehicle configs. The only game that is more varied then it is Unreal Tournament 2004.

First off, Halo 2 sucks was said before I started to defend its honor I don't just walk into every thread prepared to defend it at the mention of its name, and secondly yeah i do like the modding scene, although the only mod i'm looking forward to right now on HL2 is Dystopia, and hopefully a Source version of Natural Selection. It would be neat if Halo 2 came out on PC with a good editor, and wasn't ported by Gearbox (still love BiA gearbox, but you cant work an engine). I would like to see the mods for Halo 2. But yeah the ability to make an entire new game, out of one you already own is why PC gaming is still king.

What makes Halo 2 good? Honestly, I don't know what made Halo 2 so great... One FPS better? ... Pariah.
There are more balanced games, games with better graphics, modable games, better engines and games that can beat Halo 2 in just about every quantifiable category but at the end of the day Halo 2 wins in the only catogory that matters: it's more fun to play. It may not be the best at any one particular thing but it is just good enough at everything to make it really, really fun. There is some kind of gestalten variable at play that makes Halo 2 great.
When it comes right down to it what makes a good game is very subjective. All I know is, nearly a year after it came out, I can load up Halo 2 and know I'll have a blast. Bungie must have done something right because, evidently, a lot of people feel the same way. If you don't that's cool but don't hate on the game because some people enjoy it.
And Pariah?! Did you even play that game? Every time I look up at my collection of games and see that box staring back at me I swear under my breath.

I think the whole "hate Halo/love Halo" thing is a disguised version of your usual PC vs Console bashing... To me, Duke3D was the most kick ass SP/multiplayer game. Sure, it took a friggin miracle to get a 7 or 8 person game going for more than a minute but god damn that was some fun stuff. It had elevators, jetpacks, trains, trip mines, shrink gun, etc. One reason why it may be my favorite is because it was the first online game I had played. Well, there was Doom that was always installed on every PC in the Lab at college but I'm talking multi over the internet.
Perhaps a lot of people will always love Halo the most because it was their first online game they played? I believe Live brought online to the masses which is a good thing.
But I digress, Stubbs looks very cool in that it is unique and we can all use some fresh gameplay this day and age. I may pick this one up for the PC after I tackle F.E.A.R. (2 days baby!)
