Yes! A fix for the sound bug that plagued me (and many other people) in the demo.

Umm this isn't for the demo is it? It says it's the first patch for the full game.
But the game... isn't released... yet?

It should be known that in the PC gaming world that companies like to release patches for games that have gone gold but not released so that, while it is being pressed, packaged and shipped, they don't have to spend another month having the game being in the development cycle where no money is made.

An updated demo should be getting released soon as well, probably incoprorating these fixes, but yes, this patch is for the retail game due in a few days.

I suspect this patch also breaks any pirated versions of the game out there. A pretty clever trick.

Nah, not really. At least not if the person in question is resourceful enough to work around it.

You would have to be a really bord pirate to bother with dling AoE3.

how would it break the pirated versions? those are leaked retail usually.

Ah, but pirate versions always require cracked .exe files to bypass the disc check in the original retail/patched version.

But cracked .exe files for popular games usually surface days after the patches are released - and besides, it's often not too hard to unwrap the .exe files if you know what you're doing.

Burn the lazy developers that release patches before their games are even out! Burn them, BURN THEM ALL!

Would you rather have to wait another month to play? If so, then that is cool, I guess. I don't mind cause it allows me to play sooner.

Its not that bad...infact it pretty good, just hasn't lived up to my expectations. Well at least the demo didn't.

the pirate version was out over a week ago; but the game IS out now. At least 2 local best buys had it as early as Friday, even though the ad states it won't be out till Thursday. At my local one, I got both Age and also Fear. I think they are all trying to beat Quake 4.

Theres virtually no hype around that anymore. F.E.A.R. is by far the most anticipated PC shooter this year i think.

Though i will be buying both, i'm gonna need another intense game to feed my need when i'm through with F.E.A.R. and Quake 4 will probibally fill that void (well if i'm not playing F.E.A.R. multiplayer).

FYI - AoE III and F.E.A.R. $42.88 in todays Target ad.

FEAR is good, but it's missing something, and I can't tell what. But it's just...off somehow. I mean, I like it, but...I dunno. Can't put my finger on it.

Age is what I expected, and I"m enjoying it. Couple real screw you missions, but for the most part, age fans will like it.
