Warhammer: Mark of Chaos is a real-time strategy game set in the renowned Warhammer world, featuring epic battles within massive landscapes, while offering an astounding level of detail, from a bird's eye view down to the insignias on a warrior's armor.
The united Empire and High Elf forces hunt the Chaos hordes from the Empire territories, still alert because danger lurks around them in the form of smaller enemy warbands that loot the settlements of the border lands. Now, four powerful armies - Empire, Chaos, Skaven and High Elves - along with other "dogs of war" including Orcs, Dwarfs, Vampires and Goblins, clash amidst breathtaking scenery in an epic battle for land and power.Check out 11 new Warhammer: Mark of Chaos screens (http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=29046) over at WorthPlaying

Looks nice, now if they'll just include a computer I can play it with in the box.

Beautiful screens. If this game follows the strategy/battlefield map mechanic that's in the Total War series, then sign me up!

Drool. I loved the table top game. It was like chess match. I picked up the current generation rule book and I definately don't like the changes. Magic is a too roll dependant. In fact, the entire current generation favors luck over strategy or smart army creation.

Looks great. Looks to play like C&C/WC. I just hope for NO UNIT CAP. The dumbest shit in an RTS is a unti cap. It ruined War3 for me. Made Warhammer:DoW too much of the same thing every time.

I played Skaven in the tabletop game back in the day and I LOVE the look of the units in those screens. I hope the game plays as well as the graphics are awesome.

Should be just as fun as Dawn of War or better if they can add all of the right features and more armies. The newer Ogre Kingdoms are hilariously dumb and brutal. Plus if they dont have computer skirmish mode it wont keep my interest very long. Playing against random people could be fun in the right environment but most of them are annoying and my friends schedules aren't always good when I get an itch to play.
Why do the new screenshots look like everyone's in a skirmish formation? I've played Armies of Exigo and the original formations could work easier for warhammer rules and adding more armies. Who knows? Maybe they are making it better.. or worse.

This will be at least one thousand time better than Dawn of War.
Why?
Because Warhammer: FRPG > Warhammer 40K.
Got to get me some Skaven lovin'
Erm ... Wheres the Undead?!!!
Its not Warhammer without Undead as well!!
40k > Fantasy!

Can't wait for this, the combination of Warhammer Fantasy with a Dawn-of-War-yet-with-a-focus-on-armies gameplay mixed with some extremely impressive looking graphics has me salivating at the mouth. All hail the powers of Chaos!

Chaos Dwarves or somethin. I dont think regular dwarves wear those kind of helmets. Dorfs are kinda cheap, they just cannon you to death until you move within a beard's length. Then again most of the rules are cheap and can be part of the fun. I'd like to buy an Ogre army but the game is almost too expensive. I change my mind about it every time I get money. I wouldn't play all the time.

I never played Warhammer but I painted a ton of little metal men. Those figures are so detailed and showing off my painted figs to friends was loads of fun.

I doubt this will even come close to Dawn Of War standards though.
Anyone else play Shadow of the Horned rat back in the day? That was pretty awesome. I'd dig a Warhammer game like that, no resources, no buildings just a persistant party you bring from battle to battle.

I played Shadow of the Horned Rat on the ps1 at a friend's house, but not enough to know anything. I played alot of the turned based pcgame with epic armies..cant remember the name. Then a little bit of Chaos Gate or something, the one more faithful to 40k only without cpu AI! I only played it twice with a friend before he got sick of getting beat. Other than that i've played alot of SpaceHulk on the 3d0 but it wasn't a traditional war game.
I doubt this will even come close to Dawn Of War standards though.
Dawn of War is just another real time strategy clone. I dont see why any other game cant be just as good (Empire Earth?). After playing Armies of Exigo, the game that even Dawn of War took from, or was this a different game i'm thinking of with the same kind of unit reinforcement? I think mostly they need to work on computer AI (because it didn't have one!). We've had the option since Warcraft 2 and I dont understand why we should have to depend entirely on others. Its just another way to make your game flop into obscurity or never realize why Blizzard are at the top.
Even gamespy sucks! I suppose it has become more accepted after the Medal of Honor in game browser, and we're kinda getting it shoved down our throats more. I mean its old like Mplayer (quake, panzer general)? Yeah, bring your own beer, hope the damn thing works and make of it what you can.

Dear god what the hell are you talking about Dawn Of War is a clone because its in a Genre, thats rediculous theres only SO much you can do within a genre. You might as well find another hobby. Half-Life is just another doom clone technically I guess.

Well it is more or less what Blizzard have done or copied only now with the license where most of the ideas originated. What is new? Capture the flag? I said it wasn't a bad thing. Empire Earth was just as unoriginal as Dawn of War and still one of the best RTS game experiences i've had along with Red Alert, Warcraft 2 and Starcraft. Top 4 easily. Warcraft was cool but it lacked AI and there is only so much fun you can have fighting your buddy after summoning a red demon to attack a gold mine and 40 catapults.
Edit: DoW is in there for my top 5. Homeworld could have been if it weren't for the ignorant AI warping their entire fleet like a on/off switch until you left your base (apart from the desktop crashes). I dont take playing against others that seriously anymore, not since Starcraft. I was good, and the memories too, but limited my skills to one race. I can have alot of fun playing against computers where I can build everything against everything at different odds.

Painting could and probably should be part of the fun of collecting a Warhammer army. I never was good at it though I tried to make them look somewhat unique. Now that i've seen godly painted minatures on the net, they're an inspiration for me to try again. Just depends on how practical it is to buy them because I hate having stuff I never use, and I doubt i'll want to be a full time painter.

Hehe, those 3 fully armored dwarves crack me up.
From what I've seen, WH > WH40k. I love and prefer scifi, but WK series has that bloodshot gritty feel that I think fantasy setting oughta have - violent and raw. Scifi diminishes that true hand to hand mano-a-mano feel.
Graphics are good, in some darker shots they even look painted.
