160GB PS3 Will Not Be Released In Australia

Cnet reports (http://www.cnet.com.au/games/ps3/0,239035763,339291485,00.htm) that the 160GB PS3 will not be released in Australia.

Although the latest hardware revision to the PS3 will be made available in North America and Europe, Australians hoping to pick up the console will be bitterly disappointed.

Why just overcharge Australians when you can overcharge them for inferior bundles?

Considering that the 80gb bundle doesn't officially go on sale here until next Thursday, this announcement doesn't surprise me at all. It doesn't make it right...but yeah, not surprising. In the meantime, I'll go buy a 320gb notebook drive and make up my own damn SKU! :P

By now, Aussies should be used this kind of shit (hell, you should see the abuse we cop from Nintendo!). The whole Rock Band debacle though...now that one is the real kick to the balls. :(

It's so much cheaper to import, it's crazy. You could get a 160GB console with game shipped in via air mail for much less that the 40GB that is available here.

Same situation with Nintendo.

Microsoft sorta makes an effort. MS published games are cheaper than other publishers, and the 360 is the cheapest console. It's all still overpriced, but if you wait for specials you can get a good deal.

Is there something other than the hard drive that is different about this particular version of the console? I mean, if you really need a bigger drive then just swap the one that is in there for a larger one.
