Condemned Preview (XBox 360)

Condemned: Criminal Origins seems to be a big sleeper hit. A lot of people have been impressed by this game and Joystiq has a good preview (http://www.joystiq.com/entry/1234000190063225/).

Condemned: Criminal Origins is going to satisfy a lot of Xbox 360 owners. It’s got great looks (even in darkness) and an interesting investigative spin. The hand-to-hand combat is a welcome change from the usual guns-blazing FPS experience—and it really works.
Looks like it nicely covers the horror genre in the launch lineup.

This is the one game I hope doesn't disappoint. I've been following its development pretty closely and it's eeking its way to the top of my 'must-have' list on launch day (assuming it comes out then).

As for the hand-to-hand combat, if it's anything like Riddick's system I'm sold. Riddick was one of the best games on the Xbox, in my opinion, and leaps and bounds above what the movie turned out to be.

Speaking of Riddick - anyone know what Starbreeze is up to these days? Have they commited to the 360 (or any other next gen platform)?

At the night of his 21st birthday, the Francetti family Don, Uncle Paulie, sends out hitman Jackie Estacado on a job. The hit turns out to be a trap and Jackie finds that Paulie wants Jackie dead. Later the same night, Jackie is posessed by "The Darkness", an ancient demonic power that gives Jackie spectacular powers. The story revolves around Jackie and Paulie fighting over the future of the Francetti family, and of Jackie's search for light and love in a dark and violent world.

I've been waiting for this game since Game Informer's article. Hoefully it's not ass. I'm weirded out though by the search for criminals yet the guy is constantly getting jumped. What crimes is he trying to solve where the city is fully of nut balls trying to be him up.

All Condemned looks like to me is FIRST PERSON MANHUNT.

As for "Darkness", it based upon a little known comic book, so it's another license game for Starbreeze. Lets hope they ignore the source material, the same way they did with Riddick, so we just get a good game.
