Microsoft has just announced their preorder promotion for Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Buts, and it's one I hope more publishers follow suit with. If you preorder the game (http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FBanjo-Kazooie-Nuts-Bolts-Xbox-360%2Fdp%2FB0019MLWL4%3Fie%3DUTF8%26s%3Dvideogames %26qid%3D1219164411%26sr%3D8-1&tag=evavbap-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=9325) right now for $39.99 - you'll receive a code to download the original game via Xbox Live. Not only will you get the original for free, you'll get it 2 weeks before everyone else can purchase it!

We saw something similar with Fable 2. I'd love to see stuff like this for Bionic Commando and other classics that are getting re imagined versions.

Great deal! I played the original but i'd love to play the first one all over again. Besides, for free...I love free. I do agree with the hope other publishers follow this...pre-order and get a free game(s)...

That is awesome. I'll preorder today when I pick up Too Human.

I paid $60 just for the first Banjo when it came out. Now I'm paying $40 in 2008 dollars for it and a sequel. Progress!

I was happy to see Steam doing this lately and now I'm excited that Microsoft is also doing this. Very good deal. This IS what I want for preorder bonuses!

Just like Texas Speed, I'll be preordering Banjo when I pick up Too Human. Seriously, this is a great deal. I can use my saved MS points to buy Banjo Tooie. :)

I certainly like the idea of games as a preorder bonus, but it is kind of sad to think an N64 game might be what really sells its Xbox 360 sequel. Mind you, that's not a knock against the system, but rather a comment on the tepid reception the game has received.

Wait, Nuts and Bolts is only $40? I wasnt going to touch it at $60, but $40 is tempting... plus the bonus... wow. Thats a good deal.

Is this offer taking place only at Amazon or what?

having never played the original (no 64, so sad) i don't mind paying $40 for the xbla version, making nuts/bolts the bonus game incentive

I don't think so. I followed the link in the press release (http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/splash/b/bknutsandbolts/) and the preorder button takes you to a list of retailers. This might be the list of participating stores or it might not.

WTF is "Nebraska Furniture Mart" doing on the list, though? That's like saying I'm going to Domino's to check out a book or two...

On the Xbox splash page, it lists all the normal retailers for preorder, though it doesn't specifically state if they will or will not have the incentive. And yes, Nuts and Bolts and Viva Pinata 2 are both $40.

Edit: GrenadeMagnet beat me to it...

NFM has an electronics section as well. It's not just furniture, dammit!

That said, I agree that it's tough to tell which retailers are participating in this deal.

Amazon updated their page to include this:

Pre-order Bonus
Order your copy of Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts and receive a code to download the original Banjo-Kazooie game from Xbox Live. Codes will be emailed within 5 business days after the game releases. Offer good while supplies last. Limit one code per household. Promotion valid only when sold and shipped by Amazon.com.

So you won't get it before hand but you can always keep the game shrink wrapped and unopened then return the game to them for a full refund after you get the code emailed to you.

They've actually got a pretty great electronics department that sells videogames, DVDs, and CDs. It blows away places like Target or Walmart.

Edit: beaten by the other Nebraska resident. Should have read the thread...

Yeah, you need something or the best selection, you go to NFM.

I was about to preorder this from Amazon (love prime!), but I don't want the N64 game AFTER I get the new one. I want to play it before, and get ready for it.

AFAICT, you probably won't be able to get the N64 version before the new one - according to Gamerscore blog here (http://gamerscoreblog.com/team/archive/2008/08/19/560588.aspx), the XBLA game launches two weeks after Nuts & Bolts - so getting it two weeks early just means getting it at the same time as Nuts & Bolts.

Reading comprehension for the loss!!

Thanks. I just figured it would come out before hand to garner hype.

Yeah, it really should. And that's the only spot I've seen that mentioned when it would be released, instead of just letting you know you could get it two weeks early.

I hope Microsoft do this (reduced price and free BK1) in NZ since this was on my list to buy. If they don't then I wont bother with it and they'll lose a sale.

C'mon MS, do the right thing.
