View Full Version : Your Oblivion Will Have to Wait

2 weeks - Oblivion will be in retail stores on Dec. 5th, ~2 weeks past the Xbox360 launch date of Nov. 22nd.
That'll give them the time to incorporate the launch-day patch into the retail build.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
*sighs*
Two weeks?! TWO WEEKS?! Oh well, hope it's even better now! Maybe they'll work on some of those archaic animations. :)

I work at Gamestop and I'm sad to say that this delayed release date appeared in our computers several days ago. As disapointing as it is, a slight delay's hardly surprising. As long as I get my Oblivion before xmas ill bet set.

Good, cause this game looks boring as hell :)

Can we at least get some form of link? Even the Gamestop page that shows the release date is better than nothing. ;)

This game better not be rushed. The fact that they've quickly delayed the game 2 weeks for some last minute polishing seems to be a sign of relief for some people, but I don't see that as a particullarly good sign.

Here's (http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=200123) the release date posted at Gamestop.com. Looks like they updated it since yesterday, when the Nov. date was still posted.

Well, I was really looking for some confirmation other than the date given at Gamestop.com ;)

EB still has the PC version as shipping on 11/21/2005. I wonder if both versions are pushed back.

Okay but who cares about the console, what's the PC release date? I want this game! Now!
Edit: Nevermind, you beat me to it. Cool. :)

Also notice the $59.99 pricetag. Funny how prices are going up even though Mark Rein (Epic Games) and others have noted that developement costs would not flunctuate a lot if developers would just license more technologies instead of wasting tens of millions to develope their own. But I guess either companies are too stupid to realize this or are just using the next generation as an excuse to increase prices. Either way, I think this sucks.

I don't see exactly how the delay was a quick action. Everything I heard always guaranteed that Oblivion would be released within the launch window. I think Microsoft just glossed over this "delay" because, for many people, Oblivion made fans want the system on launch.
Now I have no idea what I'll be picking up on launch day. Those EA games look sloppy, GUN looks more like a curren gen game, Kameo/Quake 4/Perfect Dark Zero have yet to impress.
Maybe Msoft can use some of the extra time to beef up Oblivion's collector edition. :D

My...God. I just realized that though Oblivion is going to be simply awesome, do you know what it means for Bethesda now that it's finally releasing?
It means that they start putting their attention full time into developing...Fallout 3!

I am just glad to see that PC version is going to be $10 cheaper than the Xbox360. $49.99 (PC) and $59.99 (360)

I admit I couldn't stand Morrowind myself. It was like a MMO without anyone else playing it. After the first few hours of gametime and the wow factor of the graphics wore off really I got kind of tired stealing from people only to sell them back their own stuff.

Not sure what you're up to, but the game is currently in pre-production at Bethesda.

What is it for PC then? Different dates on EB and GS. Damnitt! I don't want this delayed! At least not for the PC. You XBox people can just wait. :P

You can't do that, can you? Every time I've tried the vendor says "That's mine!" and takes it, gives me no money and calls the guards.

That's funny, when I was playing World of Warcraft, I kept thinking "This is just like a cooler Morrowind, only with all these irritating people running around ruining the game." Now playing either of these games just with a few friends like Diablo 2, that would be awesome.

I have to agree with you. I enjoy my time in WoW, but honestly I could live without the other players. What made Morrowind so fascinating to me was that the entire game was engineered for solo play. Where I can spend a couple hours looking for a group to do anything noteworthy in WoW, I load up Morrowind and just go. It would be great to play over a lan with my friends, lets hope we see something like that in the future.

I'm thankful, because this means the game will get some of the polish it needed (if the recently released videos are anything to judge by).

I don't really care because I'll have intensive class work to focus on until the 15th of December. I just hope they don't push it back until after December 15th because my break is only so long and I will need a gargantuan amount of time to play Oblivion.
I like the word gargantuan but I hardly ever get a chance to use it in a sentence.

Its Bethesda, so obviously there's gonna be bugs(understatement). They did do a good job of patching up Morrowind, so I'm not worried.

I have. Is it used in it? Does that make it somehow a less cool word?
Huh? There have been reports of a delay from at least one random internet site every day for the past two months. Show me some proof, or something actually from someone who would know, and I'll believe it. Just because its posted on evil avatar with no link or source, doesnt mean its true gentlemen.

That is fine, it will give me time to finish Kameo and/or PDZ. Actually, I'd rather a game slip then come out all crappy like. So good on them! :)

My fault, what I meant was please don't tease that once Oblivion is done all Bethesda will do is focus on Fallout 3.

Eh, the PC (read: superiour) version will be $50, I can promise you that. If not I won't be buying it. ;)

Ok, are you wanting a bunch of fan boys to climb on your back and beat you with sticks and pitchforks?
I'm not a fanboy, but I might do it just because beating the other people under met in the back of the head is fun... plus I can scream loud words and say things like, "I love lamp" and no one will notice or really care.
