According to the folks at Aeropause (http://www.aeropause.com/2008/08/force-unleashed-demo-hits-august-21st/) who happened to catch the latest edition of GametrailersTV - the Star Wars: Force Unleashed demo should be hitting both Xbox Live and PlayStation Network this coming Thursday, August 21st.

The Force Unleashed is a brand new Lucas Arts Star Wars title set between Episode III and IV and features some pretty incredible physics and force powers all playing together in glorious dark side glory.

My only sadness for the game is is that I believe it dooms the Jedi Knight series, and with it the great only play and dueling mechanic...

I don't have a lot of high expectations for this game, so hopefully a demo can come around and wow me.

I not only hope this game will be good I want it to be good.

I have pretty high hopes for this game as well. I mean, the force powers look cool - but at first glance, all I could think of was "Isn't this basically like a Grav Gun... without the gun?"

Fucking sweet. Can't wait to try this out. It will make or break my decision of whether it's a day one purchase or not.

It'll suck, I'm calling it right now. I wish they picked up the Jedi Knight series again.

Since Raven's been pretty busy with other games for the past several years, I'd figured Jedi Knight was dead anyway.

Personally, I think Force Unleashed has the potential to be awesome, if they get the controls right. I am getting a little tired of this time frame around the movies, though. How about an action game in the KotOR period? You could play Darth Revan before he lost his memory, perhaps with some HK-47 assassination missions on the side. I'd buy that in a heartbeat.

Personally, I hope this is great, and everything I've seen so far looks pretty awesome. . . not sure where these two negative posts are coming from. Why do you guys think it will suck?

I loved Jedi Knight and I replay Jedi Academy at least once/year. . . Kyle Katarn was never that interesting to me (who wants to play a bearded middle-aged man besides other bearded middle-aged men?), but I loved getting to make my own Jedi.

Force Unleashed is looking like force powers will be more important than good dueling skills, and also like the focus will be on fighting non-Force users who are generally push-overs to a Jedi even in large numbers. . . but that's still fun. I like playing Dynasty Warriors so having an amazing superhero type character does not bug me at all.

Playing the apprentice in SC4, I kept thinking how odd it was that he looked so much like that guy from the first season of Dexter (http://lh3.ggpht.com/pedrobmaciel/R-rUhL6UQoI/AAAAAAAABe8/ctLQ4SNZzk8/s400/vlcsnap-217952.jpg). One day I actually bothered to look it up and yeah, Sam Witwer (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1022429/) provides the voice and likeness of the apprentice. Using a (relatively) unknown actor to actually "play" a role in a videogame isn't exactly (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merle_Dandridge) unheard of (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jamil_Mullen), but its an interesting development nonetheless. Certainly one way to avoid characters all looking the same.

Really hope this game turns out well.

They must be pretty confident to release a demo 3 weeks in advance of the games release IMO. I think its gonna be great. Crosses fingers...

Awesome. After the trailers earlier today - which proved the game's visuals even more - I've been looking forward to seeing how well the game actually plays. I'll be sure to pick this up...

I'm pretty excited for this one, so fingers crossed it doesn't suck. Soul Calibur 4 has me pretty warmed up to the character of the apprentice, so it'll be interesting to see how his own actual game plays. Even if it's just a sandbox game for force abilities I reckon I'll have some fun with it.

All gameplay movies that I have seen seem to indicate a giant "meh" to me. Let's hope I am wrong.

Am I the only one who would rather see a game centered around Han Solo, where you do a lot of gun slinging and space combat? Because I have a feeling this new Star Wars game will be completely devoid of that.

I thought the gameplay trailers looked fantastic, and the trailer was awesome. I can't wait to play the demo. Unless the game is absolute crap, I'll be buying this for sure.

I'm looking forward to the demo. I don't really have any qualms about it, other then I'm expecting a short game here. So I may wait on it.

My only concern is that the game'll won't have enough moves to keep things fresh the whole way through, but that trailer was really slick.

Mine is that the game is going to be sickeningly short.

I think this is a good sign of things to come from this game. After seeing the last trailer I was blown away by the production value. It was like watching a real Star Wars movie trailer and I got all excited inside. It appears allot more darker and dramatic then the other star wars( Finally!! George take notes!!). Also someone commented on the length of the game. It probably will be short, but the ride will be great. Kind of like Max Pain, or Metal Gear. You can beat them in 10 hours but man what a ride!!

This demo is a guaranteed download for me. I finally watched the original three Star Wars movies, so this is interesting to me... :D

I'm building some excitement. This is one of the first X-box titles that doesn't seem to have a "clunky" quality to it. Does anyone else see that?

Have high hopes for the game. Interesting thing i noticed demo released on the same day on both 360 and PS3. Haven't seen that in a while.

Does it have to be an either/or situation? I'm looking forward to playing as Vader's apprentice while using all kinds of awesome Jedi powers, but I think I'd like a game that lets you play as Solo. . . as long as they focused on the narrative and space battles that are all about evading the enemy and running blockades as a smuggler.

I guess what I'm getting at is that I'd like to play a Star Wars game that was closer to the experiences of the characters of the original trilogy. Force Unleashed obviously looks awesome, but it's so far from anything we've seen in the movies that it's almost an entirely new experience vs a familiar one.

I'm still picking this game up though!

Ha, could be! I wouldn't mind a hot 5-hour game. Just rent it, play it twice, etc.

At least it has the potential to be good. Not many SW games can claim that nowadays.

So is the demo coming to Xbox live world wide or USA only?

Now this is the kind of game where a demo will tip me to one side of the fence or the other. Definitely going to play this. I *hope* it's going to be amazing, but I fear it's going to suck. Suck leads to hatred, and hatred leads to the not buying side...

(And, going off the news out of Lucas Arts, there will probably be no sequel, even if it's a smashing success. No sequel from the same team, anyway)
