Yahoo Finance (http://finance.yahoo.com/) is reporting (http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/051011/115427.html) that EA has announced The Sims 2 Holiday Edition for the PC.
Available for a limited time only and listed at the same manufacturers suggested retail price as the original version, The Sims 2 Holiday Edition contains the original game, The Sims 2, in its entirety, plus 40 new holiday-themed items that allow your Sims to celebrate their holidays in style. With this bonus content, your Sims can decorate their house, serve a festive holiday dinner, engineer a visit from Santa himself, even host a rollicking New Year's party!
Thanks to Gamegossip (http://www.gamegossip.com/) for the tip.
Uh...ok.
Update: Having read it closely, the "holiday" content will be available to buy for the folks who own the base game. Know what you're getting before you get it. (http://thesims2.ea.com/about/holidaypp_index.php)

Will they be giving out free cookies with this milk?
Does that package sound pathetic to anyone else? You get the Sims 2 (in it's entirety apparently) and some holiday themed items? That's it? Could they not get another expansion out in time?

What odds are you quoting? I'll have some of it. I mean, the astounding retail under-performance of all things Sims-related never ceases to confound me. I don't even see the 15 million expansion packs in Wal*Mart or Best Buy any longer.

Um, yeah. Is Electronic Arts a developer/publisher or a dairy farm?
In the words of my cohort Fitabits, "Moooooooooooooooooooooooooooo".

Dang fitbabits, just making all sorts of snazy text today. I think you need a bit more free time...
Oh, and the sound of a dead horse being beat with large sticks would probably be more apt. (at least I like to tell myself most people won't buy something like this. Let me stay disallusioned, I sleep better that way o.0)

I helped support Maxis/EA by buying every expansion but one for the original Sims for my girlfriend. Now, she can afford to buy her own games.
We all have our addictions and favorites genres. As long as she can keep occupied playing Sims 2 (on my computer, no less) I get the TV to play Halo 2.
Also, they had better hope to release the extra content for free online. Screw Valve for releasing a GOTY Edition for Half-Life 2 with Half-Life: Source and not giving it (via Steam) to those of us who already purchased the first retail box. Sounds like something EA would do.

Wow. This is retarded. But I wish I was the one making the games because all those morons who buy it would make me rich.
