A lengthy interview at gameplayer (http://www.gameplayer.com.au/gp_documents/080813-RFG.aspx?catid=Features) reveals some more details about the new Red Faction. Producer Rick White confirms that there are no aliens — but there is a third force skulking around on Mars:
"The EDF and Guerrillas are on the planet, but there are signs that they aren’t the only people there… "
Apparently, even though main character Alec Mason looks like a fireman, this is purely coincidental…

I think the single player for this bad boy is going to be a blasty.

I think the geo-mod will put Bad Company to shame

I think the guys making this game should get back to making a proper sequel to the first Red Faction game ASAP

Thaaaank you. Aliens was the thing that ruined Far Cry for me. I hated the game at that point and never got around to finishing it.

Well not exactly aliens, but the gene-modified thingies.

This jives pretty well with the original Red Faction games. I don't think there were aliens in either game, but I know there were mutants.

I think having a game with good level design and action sequences where you can tell what the hell is going on will do just fine on shaming Bad Company.

I played this at Comic Con and it was fun as hell. I first tore into the side of a building with enemies on top and knocked all the supports out which collapsed the whole structure and then I drove a bunch of trucks onto a bridge and spent a good 10 minutes knocking out the rocks around it to make it collapse. The guys waiting behind me were getting a little impatient but I brought down that fucking bridge! This is a must buy for me.

I think story designers tend to bring aliens in a bit too frivolously. Better this way, have an all-human (or, mostly human) cast in the first one and wait before popping the alien cherry on us....eww...

Now if the game were Total Recall: Guerrilla War, I could deal with a few three breasted mutants.
