Hancock is still in the top 10? Is that surprising to anyone else?

I would have thought word of mouth would have killed Hancock. It's total shit. Way worse than I Am Legend.

I Am Legend was pretty decent imho.

Yea, I'm surprised by Hancock too, sadly that puts it well within sequel worthy money, which would suck since the only mildly entertaining part of the movie was the first half (thought the movie had real potential back in the day :(). Anyway, good to see TDK tearing up the charts, totally deserves it.

I want, nay, need to see Pineapple Express. Even the song in the trailers lures me.

EDIT:
I Am Legend was pretty decent imho.

Other than the ending, I agree.

Pineapple Express was pretty good. Some bits went on a little too long and i'm sure the dvd will have an uncut/uncensored version.

Batman, saw once and will buy it on Bluray.

Surprised that Space Chimps is in 10 but not Xfiles

The X-Files movie must suck.. Damn that did horrible.

Yeah, I think that would be considered an "Epic Fail" for X-Files.

Step Brothers and Pineapple are on my "to see" list. Tropic Thunder on the horizon.

Pineapple Express succeeds above expectations every time James Franco speaks. The action-y bits are a bit overdone and very B-movie, but on the whole it was worth it. If you do 'partake,' be sure to do so before seeing the film as it will help with a lot of the humor.

Not to be a dick, but I think the phrase "top grossing" should replace "best selling."

I saw Hancock alone at a matinee when I was really bored and everyone else was busy. Actually, I enjoyed myself quite a bit. Yeah, the first half of the movie is much more interesting than the last half, but the last half didn't overly offend me. It's a big expensive Hollywood movie, of course they're going to have Hancock redeemed and reformed. Whatever, I laughed plenty to justify the matinee price and it's a steal as an afternoon HBO or TNT flick.

I saw TDK again for the 3rd or 4th time this weekend. This time at the IMAX! I really wanted to see if they made mention of upcoming characters (I've heard some people say that it did). I didn't see anything referencing other characters other than saying Batman can't do it alone.

So if it is the 3rd best selling/top grossing what does it need to do to make number 1?

Have Leonardo DiCaprio make love to Kate Winslet in a car?

Have a legion of females go see it like 20 times each.

Yeah, so the long and short of it is that it can't and won't be number 1. Titanic was a complete anomoly in all of film history. People literally went to see that thing in the theaters ten times or more. I worked in a movie theater at the time actually, and it was not unheard of for a couple to come in bragging that they were seeing it for their fifteenth time, which considering the $8 ticket prices that I think were then current, would mean that just that couple had spent over $250 on ticket prices alone. So yeah, it will be a long time until something unseats Titanic on pure gross, and probably never in terms of inflation adjusted gross. Still, number three (or maybe two if it keeps going like this) ain't bad.

At the rate its going, it looks like Dark Knight will most likely end up bumping Star Wars out of the number 2 spot for top grossing.

Seconded. Seth Rogen was great, but James Franco really made this movie for me. I felt like the pacing around the end got a bit weird, but it was still overall pretty fun.

Also, it has my new favorite line in it: "What the hell is down there, a fucking rancor?!?!" Genius.

It only needs about 20mil to pass Star Wars. It should do that by Friday and then has about $140 million to go to pass Titanic. If TDK can squeeze out a few more 20 million weekends it may do it. Titanic was such a wierd movie because it didn't open big and compared to TDK, only had ~$200 million in the bank at this point in it's run. It just kept doing $20+ million weekends for like 3 months straight to take the top spot.

As for the adjusted, which I think is a little flawed, Titanic is at number 6 and TDK just entered the top 40 all time. If you're into this sort of thing boxofficemojo has all kinds of tracking and box office records.

That made me laugh out loud, but it didn't seem like anyone else in the theater heard/understood the reference.

My favorite line (that I can remember right now): "It smells like God's vagina!"

Indeed. I think I was the only one in the theater who laughed at that.

beskeillor, so it needs eight more weekends of $20+ to come out #1? Much as I'd love to see that, I just don't think it's likely. It's held on well for as many weeks as it's been out, but two months is a long time to keep putting up those numbers. The #2 spot, sure, but $140 mill is a long way to go.

Batman needs 8 more weeks at this pace to top Titanic.

Remember now that is Weekend gross. You have 4 days during the week as well. That can add anywhere from 5 million to 20 million as it runs up to the weekend. Compared to similar dollar blockbusters, The Phantom Menace added $140 million to it's run from this point forward. This upcoming weekend will hint at how it's legs are holding up. If it goes over $20 million again I would think we'll have a new number one in a couple of months. If it's under 20 and falls in line with other blockbusters decline each week it'll finish in the mid $500 million range.

James Franco was really good in PE, my two favs though were definitely Danny McBride (Red) and Craig Robinson (Matheson (the black bad guy)).

My favorite quote of the movie: "You just got killed by a Daewoo Lanos mother fucker!"

I think its pretty sad that you have people recommending you get high to see pineapple express.. I mean, I don't have to get drunk to get the acting of Robert Downey Jr. , when movies require the audiance to lower their IQ to get the joke, there is something wrong.

I didn't even realize that Hellboy 2 was out. I see its not really doing that great. Ok, but not great. :(

As for X-Files.... Well, its been so long, even if the movie was good, do enough people care anymore?
