Another weekend, another few days closer to major releases, and if the rumor is true, Gothic 2 Gold edition. This weekend I am playing Fable: The Lost Chapters. I remembered reading some good posts on it and decided to try it. A few aspects are cool, and a few aspects are very annoying (the controls). I may also play some CoH. What are you playing this weekend? What are you waiting for that comes out in the next few months?

Well I just played through the King Kong PC demo, twice actually. Really impressed, it was a ton of fun. I think this game may be mine come November.

I've been playing through Windwaker... Seems like it's a lot more fun than when I first bought it.

Picked up Advent Rising for the PC. Figured it wouldn't have the problems that were complained about in the Xbox version. Unfortunately, there's way to many controls to map in the Numpad area, and I find using WASD uncomfortable. I should have picked up the half Z-board thing before they were discontinued. :/

I'm really enjoying Black & White 2. I know the reviews haven't been off the charts, but my experience with it so far(only on the third land) has been gravy. The interface is frankly brilliant, the creature is actually somewhat helpful this time around, the cities are fun and varied and interesting to build, and the visuals are stunning.

I mean, my creature can even poo this time around, so that's another plus.

Day of Defeat: Source, and Battlefield 2 for me.

Been a DoD player for a LONG time now (since Beta 1.1 back on WON).
I kind of fell out of it once 1.3 was released on Steam... but DoD:S seems to be pulling me back in. I've been having a great time playing it, despite a few flaws/bugs here and there.

And as for Battlefield 2... well, I hadn't played in about 2 months because the numerous bugs simply frustrated me to no end.
With the new patch they fixed some of those bugs. At any rate it has made the game a lot more tolerable, and dare I say... fun?
So I'm playing BF2 until all the flaws/glitches get to me again. Hopefully they'll have yet another patch out before that happens... but since it took them 2 months to make a patch that didn't actually fix a lot of the bugs... I won't hold my breath.

Just finished up Fahrenheit on the PC. Really enjoyed the game. Want more.

Something I didn't like about the game was the fact that the characters are always wearing the same clothes all the time. In the ending I got, its all sunny and stuff, yet she' still standing there wearing the heavy ass leather jacket and jumper. Just didnt feel right.

I've just registered up for RFOnline beta. About to give it a whirl...

For no good reason I re-installed Civilization III and had a blast flinging ICBMs around the globe. There's something strangely satisfying about having 12 or so other nations all declare war on you at the same time.

Hopefully Civ 4 is even better.

I am currently playing through Fay Cry Instincts on the XBox and enjoying it. Far Cry is one of my favorite PC games, so I thought I would give it a shot. The Xbox version certainly is not a port as I am finding the levels are laid out differently and the story progression is slightly altered. I have never really liked FPSs on the console as I am a mouse and keyboard kind of person. I am forcing myself to learn and get used to using the game pad. Only way to get good at it is to stick with it I figure. In the past I have usually put the controller aside out of frustration…lol.

On the PC side of gaming, I am in the process of wrapping up Winter Assault playing the Chaos faction. It is a great expansion pack that really enhances and complements the original game.

I'll be playing 'get the guest room in order' because my best man is coming to town (from Scotland). I thought about saying fuck it and gaming all weekend, but my wife shamed me when I mentioned Creamy (for it is he) sleeping on the kitchen table.

After hopefully finishing up a new story this morning (I have this new-fangled discipline where I can't game if I still have work to do) I'm going to dive into some more Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne. Digital Devil Saga 2 just came out, and I still have yet to play the first. I want to beat them all in order of release, so I have my work cut out for me.

playin Dawn of War and Half-life 2. (yes, i finally got around to playing them)

My wife bought my a gift card that I finally got around to using and I picked up Dawn of War yesterday. What a blast! I think I may have finally found something to fill the hole left by Command and Conquer.

I've been playing a bunch of BF2 and I started HL2 last night. Love the former, but I'm having some horrible stuttering problems with the latter.

Ah PC games...how I've missed thee. :D

EDIT: Ugh. A quick google search shows this isn't an isolated issue with HL2...anyone ever come up with a decent fix?

I fear that I'm going to have to turn in my hardcore gamer card. With work and family, there's not much time for anything else. I played the Hollow Moon UT2K4 mod last night, which was visually pretty cool, though the gameplay so far was merely okay. I'll probably do the Kong demo in a few minutes, which people are raving about. Then it's watching kids and going to soccer games for me for the rest of the day.

After fighting random bidders on ebay for a copy of Grim Fandango, I decided to check the Lucasarts website. HA! Fifteen bucks. Much better than the $40-$50 range on ebay. So I'm waiting for that to arrive.

In the meantime... I'll be cursing Team Ninja for making the Ninja Gaiden Black missions so damn hard. And I'll be working my way towards the mirage that is level 60 in WoW.

I'll spend the majority of the weekend working on a prospectus for my thesis. I am not defending until spring and this is my first semester of thesis work, but for some reason I have to turn in a bibliography and proposal by next week.

I will reward myself with some more Ninja Gaiden play. Up to Chapter 14 now. Really loving it, but living in perpetual fear that it is about to turn on me and become viscious and relentless at any moment.

I played a bit of Doom 3 last night after drinking a lot of Bourbon. I found that it is a lot more fun this way and I was amazed by the atmosphere the game creates (such things have a much easier time amazing/convincing you when your inebriated). Perhaps I have found the way to actually play and really enjoy Doom 3.

Probably DoW: Winter Assault, Max Payne 2, and Secret Weapons Over Normandy for me, with a touch of Ninja Gaiden Blackin Mission Mode and the Kong demo. I only ever played Doom 3 late at night, no lights, with headphones, good and drunk. I really enjoyed the experience.

I finally picked up Dawn of War and spent the week playing through the campaign. I've just started on Winter Assault. It's totally awesome. I haven't messed with WH40K since back when I used to field an Epic Marine/Guard army. Also, I'm working on my next Flashpoint mod when I get time and motivation.

Well I'll surely continue to be a WoW junky. Little doubt about that. But I was considering pulling out FF9 or something. Maybe even hooking up my SNES for Mario action.

Or I might prove too lazy and just do alot of reading. I got Jarhead by Anthony Swofford and Fluke by Christopher Moore.

I have problems doing anything meaninful when I'm drunk nowadays. I remember in college, after a huge party, sometimes I'd fire up GTA3 and fucking rule the city streets at high speeds. I could zip down highways and not scratch the paint on a car. The neighbors came over to complain a few times, because I'd have the cop sirens up too loud at 3 A.M.

Now, well, I can't do much. If I have a beer on an empty stomach right after work, sometimes I get a headbuzz and cant sit down and write or play coherently, because with too much alcohol comes forgetful spells, even if it's only 5 beers. In college I got drunk and played Drakan: Order of the Flame one night (again, coming home from the bars) and the next day I fired the game up and couldn't remember what the fuck happened in my game. I flew through the levels and I blacked out at how I reached where I did. With RPGs or reading books, it's even worse. I can't read drunk, or I have to reread the next day.

But sometimes blackouts are good. Especially when you pick up some sasquatch from the bars or a party and plow her good and hard, telling her how much you love her and her greasy sexhole. The next day, it's like it never happened, because of the forgetfulness of alcohol. But you still have to deal with the infernal penile itching and burning. Gonorrhea isnt cool.

God, too much, again. Mostly Indigo Prophecy and RE4, I guess.
I've been playing through Windwaker... Seems like it's a lot more fun than when I first bought it.
Doing the same, actually. And somehow my mom enjoys watching me play. I wonder, though, how well TP will do. I don't know if people enjoy that visually-focused exploration anymore.

I do. I do.

Edit: I'm also just installing Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 since I never got around to playing it. I'm craving a FPS right now, but I tried some on Xbox and I just cant do it. It's too frustrating and I feel very restricted compared to a mouse and keyboard. The feeling is like taking a shower with wool sweater on.

Played Forza and PGR2 for the first time last night, as well. Had a friend over and had a blast (except the damage models for Forza fucked us hard on the first play)

I just got Rome Total War- Barbarian Invasion and Black&White2, installing those at the moment. Been playing Dungeon sige2 not sure how much I like it yet. Good but how good? Been trying to go back and finish older gamer that I have after I have gotten wow out of my system after playing non stop since 11th of march. Games like Kotor2, Gta-Sa, God Of War and Mgs3 are all getting renewed attencion. I got a Gamecube for my birthday on friday and with it, Rouge Squadron III, Resi4 and Windwaker but no memory card :( I wont get any until monday :( So no Nintendo love until then. And I almost forgot I got Fahrenheit (A.k.a Indingo for the US people here) Tried it and loved it. But my virus scanner thinks the game is the devil. Am beginning to regret not getting it for the xbox. And not the least counting the days until the 21st of Oct, when Football Manager 2006 is released here in Europe and my soul can be sucked away for the next 12 months. :)

I've gone through all of my DS games, but only really spent any time on Aira of Sorrow to get the last few souls I need and level up for Boss Rush mode and Advance Wars, Mario Kart DD and RE4 on Cube and getting mercilessly schooled online in Phantom Dust but nothing's really talking to me.

May end up dragging the ol DC out for Powerstone or Virtua Tennis... maybe restart Fallout...

I've just been in one of those moods where I know I wan to play something, but not sure what.

When i beat a game, I usually go through that phase. Do I want long RPG, having to commit tons of time, or a short 10-hour or less mindless shooter? What about an adventure, I sure do have some adventures around. Racer, earn some new tracks and cars on Burnout? Hmm, I have a lot of Gamecube gems I haven't played, should I crank those out. But I have a lot of games from the PS era and some great, underrated games like Wizardry for the PS2 that I could dive into, maybe I should get to those before the new stuff. Oh, shoot, I still have all those Nippon Ichi games like Disgaea and Phantom Brave I should play, but then again, they are huge time-sinks. Wait, so-and-so game just came out today, should I buy it?

That's me every so often. It's called having too many games and not knowing which to play next. I don't think I felt like that until the past couple years or so, when I decided to pick up the Gamecube AND the Xbox on top of my PS2 and PC. Sometimes I think about what to play next so much, I waste a weekend with no gaming. It's like thinking you are hungry, but maybe you arent. Sheesh.

You have hit the nail on the head. That last sentence sums up my life. Should I go grocery shopping or stay home and beat it? Should I go to work today, or stay home and beat it? Should I go to my grandmother's funeral or stay home and beat it? Should I go down to the shelter and help out the homeless like I volunteered to do today, or stay home and beat it?

The answer is always the same.

Yea that post wasn't more then moderatly disturbing. Please don't create that horrible visualization for us again. I get that feeling though, it's like I should be enjoying and taking advantage of my gaming time better now that I'm working full time. Instead it's just like "Eh, I don't feel like deciding what to play." Then suddenly it's like 10 and I need to hit the sack. -_-

Probably going to grab Winter Assault tommarow and get back into Dawn of War. Otherwise more Ninja Gaiden and NCAA Football. Maybe I should open Tales of Symphonia, though I've been itching to play Morrowind again, but now I'll probably go rent something and barely touch it. Bah, curse you for making me think about being indecisive. :p

Geese I really need to write some more though, especially should finish up my story for that Apex contest.

Yeah, I go through the same thing with food. I know there`s something in the house I want to eat, and when I find it I'll know. Then my life will be complete, I'll just stand here with the door to the fridge open for half an hour until I see what I want... or maybe something from the cupboard... Hold on... I'll check the fridge again...

It's just been one of those "shall I have a quick blast on game X, or sit down with a coffee and a snack and put some time into game Y? weekends.

Maybe I'll just go have a wank.

I gotta admit, looking back on it, Republic Commando on the PC was a crazy fun game, at least in my experience. Maybe I'll fire it up again sometime soon.

gonna finish sudeki. then i'll prolly start up doom 3 expansion for xbox, and of course some link to the past on my micro.
Oh, poor, poor ezzkmo. Sudeki? That game still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It had some gorgeous environments but was such a blazing pile of mediocrity that I still am angry about paying full price when it came out.

There's one, ONE, character that is at all interesting in that whole game. And speaking of characters, the character design was something out of a high school anime fan's binder o' illustrations..... and that's not a good thing.

It really was a game that had a lot of really neat ideas, both story, setting and gameplaywise. It was just so badly executed it bothers me to this day... TO THIS DAY!

Sigh... I'm still mad at not having any turkey (and at still being stuck at my in-laws' place, unable to play Sly 3 or Radiata). Forgive my harshness...

Yeah i just finished it, it was a great game, really didn't get the scores it deserved, i loved listening to your squad mates bicker, and when you died, Sev would be like "38 is down........*sigh*....again". Or if you blew yourself up "why dont you leave the explosives to the.....explosives...expert?". I just loved every second of that game. And the graphics are holding up really well for a game that came out like 8 months ago. I'd highly recommend checking it out, its cheap for the PC now, so what are you waiting for GO PICK IT UP! Also SWAT 4 is a testimate to why PC FPS needs to exist, you wont find a game that complex on a console. (And that is comming from a MASSIVE Halo fanboy!!!)

Ya, but you can now buy the game for $10 :p Mediocrity can be overlooked for that price.

I guess when you put it that way it's not so bad. I felt the same way Killer 7. Awesome game but if I hadn't rented it I would have been rather annoyed to have paid full price.
