Delve deeper into the film experience through alternative viewpoints designed to immerse the player into the action and truly "feel" the tension of the adventure. Unprecedented Alternating Gameplay Battle for survival on Skull Island in first-person as Jack Driscoll AND experience the staggering power of King Kong in third-person taking on massive beasts. By integrating Weta assets directly into the game engine, and taking a true cinematic approach, from both a visual and audio perspective, players are thrust directly onto the Skull Island where the dark jungles, over-sized environment and lurking danger become reality.
Ubisoft has released a singleplayer demo allowing you to try out two missions, Chased by TRex (playable as Jack Driscoll against a T-Rex) and Kong vs TRex (where you play as King Kong, having to defeat three T-Rexes to save Ann).

sweet, I have this game pre-ordered for the 360 based on early previews, now I can see if I should switch to a far-away order of gears of war.

I just tried it... this game is F-ing INTENSE.
Absolutely no Heads-up Display, very cool.

This is really an amazing game. Great atmosphere, graphics, controls. I think Ancel made another gem.

Totally awesome. Finally a game that gets real cinematic presentation. The Kong combat could use a bit more variety, and I can tell the control for him is better suited for consoles. The whole mouse wheel thing doesn't work well at all. The swinging around and beating up little dinosaurs was a lot more fun than hitting two t-rexes with the same two punches, and failing every grab because the other would come from behind.

You really have to stop linking to worth playing for downloads. Their links are broken ALL THE TIME. Try 3d Gamers, it is much more reliable.

WTF is Ubisoft protection fucking bullshit about? Fucking shit, we don't need this bullshit? We've only got a god damned 2 level demo! not an entire god damned game, I hope its easy to remove, knowing some of the shit these guy pull it might stick around.
BE WARNED theres BULLSHIT COPY PROTECTION DRIVERS INSTALLED EVEN FOR A FUCKING DEMO!
seems like starfuck protection.
The demo isn't even worth it, only about 30 mins of gameplay, oh and it sucks.
But Xbox360oids will love it.

I've thought about suggesting the same thing, but considering that RainOfTerror's title is "Worthplaying Webmaster" I think he's got his own opinions. :)

Umm... is anyone else having a problem installing the demo?
I try to open the demo's install exe and nothing happens.
*Double Clicks*...
*Nothing*.
? Never came across this problem before.
Guess I'll try downloading it again from somewhere else.
EDIT: Doh, nevermind. Just looked closer and my file is only 35mb. I was AFK, and apparently the download quit part of the way through (what a surprise, I was getting it from Worthplaying).
Downloading again via Torrent (Thanks FileRush!!).

Sorry about that. Just played through it myself. Really nice. Quite exhilerating, actually. The Jack section had me as scared as anything since Thief or System Shock 2. That's high praise, if anyone doesn't realize.

Yeah, same thing happened to me. I'll wait til Fileshack has this.
By the way, is there really copy protection/spyware bullshit in this demo? If so, I would like to know, as I definitely will not be downloading it if that is the case.

I had mixed reactions. I ran the game at high settings, and it still didnt impress me that much graphically. The human models didnt have individual fingers or anything. The debris from the rex's smashing disapeared when it hit the ground. It was ok, but I think I'll cancel my xbox 360 version pre-order and switch to something else.

After LoTR, Peter Jackson is going to have to screw something up pretty bad before I'm not getting excited about it.

Well, first off it has Peter Jackson as has been pointed out. But perhaps more importantly, wasn't King Kong created before Godzilla?

Bah, there is something messed up in the mouse controlls in this demo. When I play jack he just looks up at the sky like I have a broken mouse, but king kong seems to work just fine.

See, the thing is, King Kong is really TALL. Where else would Jack be looking?? Just kidding, of course. I'll have to check out the demo and see if I have the same problem.

Peter needs to get the rights for and make a epic trilogy from the Chronicles of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever books. Though I'm sure he will avoid another trilogy for quite some time.

I think that New Line and who ever the other company it is that owns the rights to The Hobbit needs to get over it and let him go make another great film in that universe. It's not like big movie companies havn't successfully worked together in the past to create box office and critical success for both companies.
It would be the icing on the cake to make the whole Ring story (from official Tolkein written cannon) complete. I don't include The Silmarion because, if memory serves, he didn't publish or finish it prior to his death.
But all this is off topic so I should probably say I am looking forward to giving the demo a try when I get home. Sounds like it is pretty good for those not having issues.

I'm almost certain that I've read Jackson himself saying he will be doing a Hobbit movie after King Kong. So rejoice!

Can anyone verify that this will install Starforce? Starforce = No Sale for me.

I didn't notice that it installed anything but the demo; I even read the Licence agreement and there was nothing mentioned.
The game looks promising, but for a game that is going to be running on the X360, it doesn't really look next gen. Even with the anti-aliasing cranked up, it reminded me a bit of Tomb Raider. It seemed to be missing a certain sharpness. The camera work, when playing as Kong, could use some work; when I went in to finish off a T-rex, the camera would sometimes go inside the model. Some of the debris falls right through the ground and what doesn't disappears, along with any of those flying things you kill.
Seems like it could be a good game, but it needs some work.

You probably already have starforce shit on your pc already, did you get the "Ubisoft Protection Software" whenever you clicked on the shortcut to launch the demo? Did you reboot after install? If not you've already got the shit on your PC. If you want to check it out go to Device Manager and then go up to View and then Show hidden devices under Non-Plug and Play Drivers, you should see some shit refering to starfuck.

Thought the demo was pretty decent.
I didn't reboot after the install...wonder if the Star Force crap is on my PC.
Oh..and on the movie...when I first heard about it I wasn't interested. Then when I saw the preview and realized it was following the Original King Kong storyline and even being set in the same Era...I couldn't wait. My dad and I used to watch the original every year!

Before playing this demo i HAD zero interest in it, now i can't wait to watch it. All i expected was nice graphics but wow, like said before, that was REALLY intense. I didn't mind the simple controls because the atmosphere kicked some serious ass, and it was nice to see a 250mb demo for 10mins of gameplay instead of 750mb :P

Stupid motherfucking StarForce copy protection. Dirty whoring asshat makers of StarForce.
The King Kong demo was pretty awesome, but I am very unhappy that StarForce is installed with it - it's a demo, for the sake of fuck!
As for removing the above-mentioned piece of intrusive pish, I did a system restore and that got rid of it. I tried various unistallers and none worked, but doing a system restore killed the motherfucking piece of anal leakage.

Peter Jackson himself now holds the rights to The Hobbit, as far as I understand. He will be doing it eventually - sometime after King Kong and the sequel.
He better get on it soon, because the great Ian McKellen is only getting older. A Hobbit movie without Gandalf the Gay just isn't worth making.
