Friedricks confirmed that the virus, which masquerades as a mod, is something the users have to download to deliberately get around the Sony PSP security system. People will not be affected if they don't arbitrarily download unknown files. Unfortunately, those who may inadvertently install the Trojan.PSPBrick are out of luck. Symantec warns that it will delete critical system files and essentially break your PSP. "You'll have to send it back to Sony for repairs," said Friedricks.

No doubt written by Sony themselves so they can take your PSPs back and slap 2.01 on them. The cads!
Oh, and what exactly does a "mickey" actually consist of? I've always wondered....not for any illegal reasons mind.

Welk to be completely honest, around here a mickey is basically a bottle of hard liqour for 13 bucks. Basically its 400mll or less and is like scotch of vodka or something.

A Mickey Finn is a drink with a dose of sedative in it. The effects are 1) waking up in some back alley, 2) robbed down to your undies, 3) with no memory of what happened.
These days a Mickey is the slang for anyone of various types of "date rape" - GHB, liquid X, roofies.

Well here in Canada, a mickey is what we call any 375ml bottle of liquor. To actually slip someone a mickey is to lace their drink with a sedative to knock them out. The origin of the saying is described here.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mickey_Finn
Nowadays the saying isn't used so much because now we slip people "ruffies" or the date-rape drug, often GHB and some other one I can't remember the name of right now.
Also, fuck, why can't people just leave things well enough alone, now I've got to watch out for viruses bricking my PSP? Thanks a lot assholes, the person who programmed this virus is a real credit to society. Fuckers can die in a fire for all I care.

Thanks, Roofinex! (http://www.kontraband.com/show/show.asp?ID=2492&rtn=) (Possibly NSFW)
Anyway...my guess is that Sony has released this to "scare" people into stop using their PSP. Curious to find that if you brick it, Sony will repair it. I've read on some PSP 'brew sites that they will be upgraded to 2.1. Don't know if that's confirmed though. 2.1 just came out.

I did, too, until last night. Anyone else had that Winfixer2005 popup you can't get rid of, jumping into your webpages and taking you to their website, even though you click NO or Cancel? Well, I couldn't delete it, even when running Hijack This! so I had to reboot in safe mode and remove it manually with a trojan fix. What a pain in the ass. There should be a law against the placement of viruses or unwanted installs placed on your computer. Anyway, I'm clean now. Thank god.
As for Mickeys and waking up in the back alley hours later with no memory of what happened and your butthole aching and trickling blood...that's only happened once to me. Just don't leave your drink anywhere at a party...always keep it in your hand so no one can get at it. If not, that guy with the gelled hair and silk shirt that keeps winking at you from the corner might be inside you by night's end.

I think the most amusing thing is i have been running this version of xp pro for about a year and i dont run firewall or anti virus nor do i run spybot regularily. I still have yet to get a trojan or virus all thanks to smart computing.

Originally, a "Mickey" or "Mickey Finn" was a drink laced with Chlorohydrate, a relatively (for the time) fast acting sedative. Rhohypnol (or GHB) is a relative newcomer that in light doses reduces inhibitions and provides a buzz, in moderate doses causes unconsciousness, and in heavy doses death.
