Once again it's Monday, and for those of us workin' people, we're back in the office for another 5 days looking forward to next weekend. So, what did you play this past weekend? I'm guessing Soul Calibur was the big game for a lot of people out there, being the big release from last week.

I didn't get to play much myself, though I was able to finally finish the main story for Disgaea 2, just in time for Disgaea 3 in a few weeks. I got in a little FFXI too, but not much at all. Just enough time to get killed by a Dark Esquire (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Dark_Esquire) as I watched the Dark Rider (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Dark_Rider) pass (I hadn't seen him before and wasn't aware that the Esquire's aggro). So close to 71 BST now......

I didn't get to play many games due to decorating my new house, but I did start FFVII Crisis Core on PSP which I am loving :)

Dark Messiah, and a grip of it. My slump is finally over, or at least this game had me playing for hours on end this weekend.

I have played through it multiple times, and enjoyed it quite a bit before, but this time I am having a much better time with the character build I went with. No magic except telekinisis and heal, and only telekinisis because you need it before heal. All combat skills, and no bow except the rope bow. Plus I discovered that the character is much more mobile that I had originally noticed. So now I am doing some three musketeers/Jackie Chan/swashbuckling/acrobatic/stunt type shit that is awesome.

Tried the Tales of Vesperia demo (which really needs some kind of tutorial for the battle system), and got Geometry Wars 2 and played that a bit last night.

Not game-related, but watched the first 9 episodes of Gurren Lagaan ($20 at Best Buy for the first two discs, and the second set comes out tomorrow (http://www.rightstuf.com/cgi-bin/catalogmgr/RU6dyxLPBIE0UsORGL/browse/item/80418/4/0/0)!)

Didn't get a chance to play CivRev (360) or Titan Quest, which means I played nada this past weekend. :( However, finally saw The Dark Knight, and watched The Ruins and Spider on BR and DVD, respectively.

I haven't touched a game in 8 days, which includes 4 vacation days in Lancaster, PA, where I had access to a DS and a PSP.

You know what...I don't even miss it just yet.

I played a lot of different games this past weekend. I played some Soul Calibur III on my PS2 and then Soul Calidbur IV on my x360 to see how they compare. I find the gameplay in IV is better, but I enjoyed the Chronicals of the Sword in III a bit more than the tower in IV.

I also played some FFIV on my DS. I went from the start of the game up to getting Rydia in the party. Good times on that, and the auto combat mode makes grinding easier.

I started a new game of Star Ocean 3. I know most people don't like it, but I find it damn fun. This is only my second time through the game, but I'm getting more out of it, probably since I know the characters a bit better.

I also fired up a game of Jedi Academy and played through not quite 2/3rds of it. It makes me really want The Force Unleashed to come out quicker.

Finally, I picked up a copy of Spectral Force 3 for the x360 and played a bit of that. I'm not completely sure on my thoughts about it. Right now it feels fairly solid, but I want to see how things go.

Pretty much Unreal Tournament 3 and Soul Calibur 4, both on 360.

Although the copy of Marvel: Ultimate Alliance I ordered came in today, so that will eat a bit of time for me this week.

Soul Calibur on nullDC. Sorry, but it's better than SC4. Just more fun to play, imo. It's amazing how well that game has aged in almost 10 years.

Phew, just got back so just missed the thread posting. Thanks for stepping in Gorvi!

Didn't play jack shit for the last 11 days. But I'm making up for that tonight:P

Shame my SC4 hasn't come in the mail yet but I read Mass Effect revelation over the holiday and it got me back in the vibe of doing everything again.

I didn't get to finish Ninja Gaiden II because I'm waiting for the patch to come out to fix the last patch that causes the game to lock up during a cinema while playing chapter 10.

I did however get some game time in on Assassin's Creed.

Finally finished the SP game of Hellgate: London. Had a heck of a time with one of the mini-bosses: Flying demon and me specializing in swords with crap ranged weapons. Finally figured out a decent grappler to bring it into range for the coup de grāce!

Between the lousy British accents and keeping the volume down for sleeping denizens, I totally missed what happened in the final cutscene. Meh... I saved the world and I've heard that story a million times.

Now I go through the limbo period of trying to pick out the next game.

Well, the only two things that went as planned are that I did get my elec/elec blaster to lvl 30 on CoH, and got the extra costume slot and auras (also the Watchman/Watchwoman accolade badge from the Rikti invasion); and my GF came up and watched Transformers and The Rocky Horror Picture Show on Saturday. She loves friggin Rocky Horror, she asks to watch it all the time.

Outside of that, I didn't get any new Transformers: Animated figures, as it seems my Wal-mart has just given up on toy sales. I say this because last Sunday, the aisle where Transformers and other action figures are kept was half empty, and only had a smattering of Animated figures. This week, the part that was empty was still empty, along with most of the other half of the aisle. No Transformers: Animated figures besides Leader Class Megatron, and I just don't really feel like shelling out $40 for a character I don't particularly like. Make a Leader Class Starscream and we'll talk.

I ended up trying to learn to play Dwarf Fortress again, and I did make some progress. I made two attempts, and while the first was pretty well fucked, the second was okay until I realized I had no mechanic to make mechanisms for my floodgate, and thus my irrigation plan was screwed. I think there should probably be a way to get people to train in other skills, but I couldn't figure out how to do it, and making the task a priority job didn't do jack. I'm gonna give it another go today.

I also started reading Boatmurdered (http://fromearth.net/LetsPlay/Boatmurdered/), and recommend it to... everyone.

I didn't get to play much of anything other then Disturbed on Rock Band. Thus my gaming mission this weekend was complete it's so much fun. Also finished the Solidus battle on metal gear solid 2.

Still trying to find some time to complete Resistance and gearing up for another play though of MGS4 at some point. Still waiting for Bionic Commando: Rearmed mostly

Finally went and saw Dark Knight which was a great movie albeit a tad too long for my tastes.

As for games had a few good TF2 rounds with the evav crew and threw my controller across the wall in frustration over Soul Caliber 4, which then went right back to the rental store never to be played by me again.

Oh and Bioshock, can't forget Bioshock.

Just got my gaming rig set up a couple days ago, so I spent the weekend trying to get caught up. Played a few games of Sins of a Solar Empire which is great, I loved it. Also tried out the Crysis demo and man does that game ever look nice. I'll consider picking up the full game, but right now I'm having fun just blowing shit up in the demo. Cloaking with the shotgun is just way too much fun.

Played a few hours of TF2 with the EvAv crew, I was surprised at how much fun that is. I also get a reasonable (160ish) ping on the server which was a pleasant surprise.

Spent quite a few hours trying out Lord of the Rings Online and wow is it ever a great looking game. I honestly had no idea an MMO could have such a fantastic atmosphere to it. The environments are gorgeous and it's done a great job of drawing me in.

Also, it's a long weekend here, so I'm off to game some more.

The high point of my weekend was finally finishing up Final Fantasy Tactics on the PSP late Friday night. Woo!

I kind of ping-ponged from game to game for the rest of the weekend. I made a bit more progress in MGAC!D and Patapon and spent almost all day yesterday playing Etrian Odyssey (I'm going to finish the first one before I start the second). I made it to the 4th stratum last evening.

And since I obviously still had the bug in my system, I fired up FFTA2 briefly last night but I was tired and went to bed after a mission.

I'm heading home from the in-laws in a few minutes and that means I can finally get around to downloading and playing some Eden and also sinking more time into GeoWars2 and Siren: Blood Curse. I don't go back to work until Thursday... yay!

I just played my yearly round of golf with the in-laws and scored an amazing 66 on a 9 hole course. Yes, I suck that badly.

And that's it!

Thus far, I'm in the middle of my greatest success... I have made it to the next spring, and everyone is starving to death because none of the dumb fuckers completed half of the jobs I laid out for them.

EDIT: And now my lumberjack is going crazy, and killing everyone with an ax.. including the fisherman who just showed up.

Demos played: Madden '09, Too Human and Facebreaker...Madden suprisingly was the one I enjoyed the most. I haven't played a Madden in forever so it was surprising I liked it.

Acutal Games: Some GH II trying to 5* all songs (on easy...I still suck at this game), Bioshock on Hard which is just as creepy as the first time I played through. Played through Resistance, which is a good FPS...just i'm not a huge FPS fan...WWII type settings turn me off especially...Motorstorm was a delight...no Etrian Odyssey though :(

I beat Uncharted, have almost beat it again on Hard. Great game, not as exciting the second time through though.

I also fired up Kane and Lynch (PS3) this morning after borrowing it from my girlfriend's nephew. It's okay.

But the best part is I installed Ultima VII (best game EVER) and got it working with the original Roland MT-32 sounds in Exult. It makes me a bit sad that games from back then could be so much more advanced than we have today, in terms of atmosphere, gameplay, depth, and interaction.

Finally finished R6LV-2 on the 360. The lonewolf stuff is a bear!!
Some progress in Resistance on the PS3
Some progress in GoW on the PSP.
Bought and played a little Pixel Junk Eden on the PS3. Interesting game...now I just learn to play it.
Played the Madden demo on the 360....I haven't decided if I'm going to try it since they're trying to make it more accessible for newbies.

I started out on Overlord, but that got boring after a few hours. Not a bad game, it just failed to hook me in. Then I went on to Fallout, which still rocks.

My whole direction changed when UPS came with my new video card (GTX 260 - look at newegg, they're relatively cheap now), which I did not expect until Monday. It came with a copy of the Witcher, I got that installed/patched and then moved on to Crysis. The GTX 260 runs Crysis much better than the 8800GT it came packed in with. It did not make that aliens any smarter though. ;)

Plowed through more than half of Just Cause and Trauma Center 2, and played a bunch of Geometry Wars 2--Sequence Mode is still wailing in my face, but I'm getting better. Tried a little Pixeljunk Monsters, kind of regret spending the $5 on it.

I was torn last weekend between picking up Trauma Center 2, a sequel to a game I like, but a sequel that's mostly more of the same, and World Ends With You, which seems from what I can gather to be pretty awesomely different. TC2 being $10 cheaper made my decision for me, but while I'm enjoying TC2, I think I may have made the wrong decision.

Also tried a bunch of demos on the 360 and the PS3...out of the dozen or so I tried, PJ Eden and N+ were the ones I'd consider buying.

And Purple Santa, I'm glad you enjoyed Motorstorm and weren't that interested in the game I never actually recommended!

Since it's technically still the weekend up here (and I don't go back to work until Thursday), I tried a bit of PixelJunk: Eden when I got home. It's delightful. Too bad I have to wait until 10pm to actually play the game proper. Stupid Canadian Idol...

After a great bit session of "No Soul Calibur 4 for you" (up yours, Australia Post) I actually ended up putting a lot of time back into Rogue Trooper on the 360 and Puzzle Quest.

So you enjoyed Motorstorm? Awesome.

Yes, thanks for the talk up of the game. A very odd reason I liked it so much...if you "fell" off a track unlike in all other racers that I have played...instead of falling into a pit and losing time, there is a alternative track below....which I found exhilarating...other aspects is the controls are awesome...not something I feel in all racing games...
