Due to... you guessed it, difficulty of development. From Joystiq (http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/29/red-alert-3-skipping-ps3-due-to-exotic-and-tough-development/):
"We actually announced a PS3 version early on but that was when we were still doing a lot of technical exploration of the architecture," explained Ajami. "PS3 is a very powerful system but as you guys know it's very exotic and tough to develop for and our engine really at the time wasn't designed for PS3." Couch commanders need not give up all hope, though, as Ajami notes EA "might go back and do something with the PS3 later on."
While it's completely fair to point out hat many other developers have made games work just fine on the PS3, the fact of the matter is the PS3 has lost a number of games due to it's "difficult" nature. Of course, it's also fair to point out that they need to figure it out at some point, as I'm sure the PS3 will be around for a while.

Surprise, surprise. I hope the same doesn't happen to Tiberium, which I don't even remotely care about, but I like having franchises present on my dear PS3.

Poor Sony are having a rough few weeks.

You and your "I already knew this cause I pay attention" attitude. I won't stand for it! :p
At least we know why now.
I'd also like to add they probably didn't see the point in spending the time and money to make that engine work for the PS3 as this is a genre that usually doesn't so well on consoles.

Sony got away with "difficult" when their user base was huge. Now they're lagging behind and "difficult" to program for more closely relates to "difficult" to turn a profit on for third parties.
I'd like to get a PS3 since I've yet to get a Blu-ray player. I'll probably wait for GT5 evan though MGS4 does look quite good.

I've always loved that one. It's got nothing to do with developers and development teams being lazy, and everything to do with budgets and resource loading. Accountants and Project Managers are the real villains in the console wars.

lies. we all know that devloopers are lazy assholes who wont port r 2 lazy to use teh full power of ps3 and the 4d blu-rayz. they hate making ps3 games, even though they would sell lots and be on the most awesome platform evar.

No, its likely an issue of project planning. CnC is a PC-first franchise. Chances are likely it was already into production for PC before the call to port it to consoles came. This situation doesn't generally work out well for PS3. If developers plan at the start, its significantly easier than trying to retrofit the development process after the fact.

It seriously makes sense to use the same ideas that work on a pc...makes developement that much easier.....doing it sony's way just makes little sense.

Looked more like 7:55 PM to me. Must be a different time zone.

Didn't EA just say that the PS3 is their biggest earner? im confused how they would cancel a title for it.

Because the OP didn't get what the fuck he was quoting in that thread. It was EA predicting that next year the PS3 will be giving them moneyhats.
EA canceled the last few RTS games for PS3... they really should have had a team kept cranking on making their RTS engine work on PS3 instead of what seems to be multiple starts and stops.

What are the sales numbers on these console RTS' thus far? I haven't heard anything about them, so I think "poor" is a good guess.

It is an RTS. If RTS games are your thang, and you do not have a PC, you planned things poorly.

You know the Truth.
If it's one thing that needs to stay sacred for the PC is the RTS genre. It just works out better. I don't think even the couch argument can defeat that.

Thing is, RTS games can be played just fine on a PS3 since you can use a mouse and keyboard on a PS3.

My only problem with that is that the keyboard on the lap is just uncomfortable to type on, and the mouse keeps falling off the arm of the couch.

So have all the cliche excuses been used yet? "Lazy developers", "I wasn't going to buy this game anyway", "RTS works better on PC anyway"... am I missing any?

I used this at the Phantom booth when it was there at E3 a few years ago. It's surprising comfortable and I hate using a keyboard and mouse for games.

Logistics problems that can be overcome with about 5 minutes of thought and some modest amount of money.

I won't be losing any sleep over not being able to play RA3 on a console. As somebody said earlier, if you're into RTS games and don't have a PC, you're doing it wrong.
