EA has released the long promised Battlefield 2 patch bringing your retail gamre to v1.03 which adds the BF 1942 Wake Island 2007 map remake, new server browser features, a nickname prefix feature, a BFHQ compare function, improved mod support, HUD & map enhancements, and the usual gameplay tweaks, crash & bug fixes. Also included are the dedicated server files.

hmmm how will the nickname prefix stuff work for those of us who have already added a prefix?

Wake Island? Oh, god yes. Best BF1942 map ever.

I hope they fixed the damn server browser. 50% of the time I can't find a server accurately reporting its own stats. 25% of the time I can't find any servers at all. The other 25% of the time, the game works flawlessly, and I'm hooked for hours.

It's been weeks (months?) since I've played this, but looking forward to checking out Wake tonight.

I'm going to like Special Ops even more now that I'll get points for destroying stuff.

Is anyone else still having problems with the in-game server browser? My All-Seeing-Eye doesn't seem to work anymore either.

Apparently the stats system has been totally borked/improved (depending on how you look at it).

People are getting a shitload of kit unlocks and ranks all of a sudden.

How about speeding up how long it takes to JOIN a server or change maps.. I really hate WAITING.

IMPROVED!! 3000 points I can strive for. 10,000 made me sad.

I got knocked up three ranks today. I only have one more weapon unlock. I also got three ribbons and three veteran badges. Crazy.

Yea the ranking is bullshit.....and now also only one person can be in a chopper to capture a flag. I know why they did the chooper thing but hell now the choppers are about useless. Leave it to EA to fuck up a game that was the most fun I have had online in a long time. OHHH well 360 will be here soon anyways. Hell the start of the day I had one gun unlocked and now I have all of them unlocked except for one.

They did it for all vehicles. My teammates and I were doing APC assaults in the same was as choppers were doing it, but on the ground.

The cool part is, it's going to look hella cool when a chopper comes in on a flag, and the passengers all dismount to take it.

Yes, the chopper is completely useless because only one person can cap the flag with it.

It can't be used for destroying tanks and apcs, or moving a lot of infantry anywhere. Why did EA even add choppers in the first place?

does anybody has problems with stats and new patch?
today i played and was promoted twice in a game :)
but what a surprice, lately in BFHQ it was my old stat.. and i could not unlock weapens.. I told to myself its ok, i'll wait .. a couple of hours same shit. My stats were not updated, i played again and i was promoted again ... but now still no progress in BFHQ screen?
wtf is that, EA are kidding with us or what???! :mad:

Can anybody confirm that the rank requirements have been lowered? I looked through all the patch notes here (ftp://largedownloads.ea.com/pub/patches/patch_103_changelog.txt) and couldn't find any mention of it.

Nevermind...
Many criteria for ranks and awards have changed. If you are immediately
eligible for a new promotion, unlock, badge, award, or ribbon, it will
be awarded the next time you receive points on a ranked server.
